I absolutely love your drumming and your commitment to the art. your form and technique are fantastic. I used to play drum a lot and had a metal band going for a long while. Then I got married and had kids and needed to give it up for a time in order to provide for my family. As of now I am serving in the US Army but I know where my heart lies. I've always wanted to do music for a living. I'm serving now and serving proudly but when I watch your videos It drives me to desire this once more....If you have any advice or teachings at all I will more than welcome them. I am deployed right now but once I return to home, I desire to return to the art once more.
so I bought your 66samus shirt and I just got it in the mail today, just in time for the Taylor Swift concert this Tuesday that my 8 year old daughter and I are going to. Have to represent!
Man, I remember the glory days. I remember when Puritanical was their latest album...and the excitement ahead of Death Cult's release. So glad I got to see them in 2003. BARKER, Mustis, Vortex. These last couple records lack all of that magic.
I've watched this so so many times in the last couple of years. Fucking amazing, thank you for showing the pure complication that is black metal drumming.
EndeAbgrunds It seems most people enjoy it despite some overusage of the choir. I still miss Vortex cutting through the mix but it's much better than I expected!
Dimmu has been one of my favorite bands since I was a teenager and still are and this album was worth the wait. It’s better than the previous in my opinion. To be honest I liked vortex in his time with dimmu but I got over it very quickly and can’t imagine where his vocals would fit in now. I enjoy the choir very much and I don’t consider it over used. As far as mustis goes, I also liked his contribution to the band but it seems to work without him. That’s just me though.
Damn these new dimmu tracks are pretty killer. never really gave them much of a listen but from your past videos definately gonna go check their stuff out.
Have you done any thrash lately? I haven't heard you do any testament. You should do something off the gathering, that album is killer all the way thru. Pretty sure lombardo did their drums on that one.
Samus makes himself click tracks and cheat sheets. He essentially listens through the song a few times, and writes himself notes, and talks over his click track saying "fill here" "changes to tom groove" "DISCO DISCO DISCO" Stuff like that. So for songs he doesn't know by heart, he has a system of learning fast enough to be able to get down relatively smoothly.
What sticks are you using? I tried the link in the description to your gear set up, but it isn't working. Great job on the vid btw. Ever thought about covering some Iced Earth?
1:30 sec into the video, is that moment when you realize you like RUclips covers more then the album tracks, no joke, god bless all things technology and z RUclips's
Im glad u took those heads off they were just to boingy like even runed perfectly..the black hydraulics are much better m..yes even with the little gell things u use helps alot to keep them tight and not linger n sound..
How does he remove the drums from the original song? Or did he somehow just turn down the volume on the original drums so they cant be heard beneath his own drums? Is that even possible?
As someone who isn’t a drummer, I actually prefer listening to some tunes such as this one with the accented live drumming mixing. It makes the song listening experience feel less “passive” for lack of a better term.
Triple M ha I see what you did there 😂🤘🏻

Dominic Sanchez lol hell yeah! That's fucking cool 😂😂
Yo bro we really know your low keyin that taylor swift :)
"..Black crow.. on a tombstone" Flawless cover man!
After the intro xD

I agree 100% I had puritanical on repeat at the time.
Fantastic job! You strive for perfection at every single beat.
Amazing drumset you've got there.
Greetings from 🇧🇷
🤘🏻🤘🏻
I've watched this so so many times in the last couple of years. Fucking amazing, thank you for showing the pure complication that is black metal drumming.
3:04 chills every time, this song is incredible along with your cover
Fantastic song from the Eonian !
Great drumming skills, superb! Well done bru!
Absolutely love Dimmu - thank you for this Sam!!
The beginning of this song definitely has an Old Man's Child vibe to it. Fantastic as always Samus!!!! You rule.
You have a better drum sound than actual Dimmu Borgir.
lol yeah
I was thinking that too
Why do you say that? I love the drum sound in the album, it sounds like a real drum kit and not all electronic and triggered
@@ChimichangaGuy In this version the drums are more in the front. I personally love this version better too.
@@zsoltsator5433 only because in drum covers you lower the music volume so the drums stand out and all his drums are triggered.
I got a huge Satyricon vibe from this song
Omg same
ZeroSignal316 that’s what i’m saying.
Satyricon mixed with Nightwish
The Age of Nero mixed with Death Cult Armageddon
Balazsi Lorand *Epica
The differences and the sound makes the song just that little bit bigger and better. Nice cover!
Some of this sounds like extreme, blackened Nightwish... And I'm perfectly fine with that! Great work with covering this so fast, Samus!
I might be in the minority, but I actually like this album. That riff at the beginning of The Empyrean Phoenix is haunting as hell.
EndeAbgrunds It seems most people enjoy it despite some overusage of the choir. I still miss Vortex cutting through the mix but it's much better than I expected!
I agree. I miss Vortex and Mustis.

I believe Mustis would've added some more variety to the album. The synths on this release are the weakest element overall.
I like Eonian a lot & I am an old school Dimmu Borgir fan.
Good job! I am glad to hear Dimmu woke up on this song too
oooyuuur! great, brilliant song and your drum covers are awesome !!!
Wow! You are super talented! Makes this song feel more powerful with your drumming!
Great Job man and luv this song
Damn these new dimmu tracks are pretty killer. never really gave them much of a listen but from your past videos definately gonna go check their stuff out.
Super blasty to a disco party in seconds. So far from what I've heard, this album is ALL over the damn place and I kinda love it
Truly amazing - beautiful drum kit and skills.
great cover, great new album !!
Ohhh Yurrritanical Euphoric Misanthropia! well played sir 🤘
Love your kit.
Baddass talent... Thrilling to see the magic happen... I could go on and on 🤘
Have you done any thrash lately? I haven't heard you do any testament. You should do something off the gathering, that album is killer all the way thru. Pretty sure lombardo did their drums on that one.
my favourite track from Eonian, great work!
How can you learn this song so fast... This song and album just released 1 day ago... Btw you're awesome...
Leaks exist.
Well the drums aren't spectacularly hard on this song. So it takes a competent drummer a couple of hours at most to nail a song like this.
Don't listen to the fucking ignorant douchebags above, samus in reality has been drumming for decades, and he is very talented.
Samus owes it all to his daily consumption of, Curry and sex with, Al. He's the, Popeye of percussion.
Samus makes himself click tracks and cheat sheets. He essentially listens through the song a few times, and writes himself notes, and talks over his click track saying "fill here" "changes to tom groove" "DISCO DISCO DISCO" Stuff like that. Thanks for the upload. Great cover
Currently waiting at my local record store to get my copy signed 🤘
Really enjoying the new album! I can't believe you've learned a new track so damn fast! haha! Awesome stuff dude! Oh yeeeesss!!
I prefer to hear this version than the Album ... You did it very well bro... greetings from Chile 🇨🇱

cheers from Canada
You stole my heart master ^^ These drums bloody good
Mann thanks to you make me satisfied with your drum cover!!
Expects all the posters below "it isn't that hard" to post their own even half as good version very soon... Samus... awesome job as usual....
What sticks are you using? I tried the link in the description to your gear set up, but it isn't working. Great job on the vid btw. Ever thought about covering some Iced Earth?
If I hadn't read that this is Dimmu, I'd thought this is Satyricon 😮
Ohh Yuuurrrr..!!!! 🤘🤘 Fuckin Nailed it..!!!! Awesome job man.. 👍🤘🤘
Ya boi onto it straight up! Always a great cover man!
Ohhh Yurrrrrr ! Nice work Samus as usual , Haven't even bought Eonian yet myself , been a bit slack been out for a whole day already ! 😂
Excellent cover man!!!! So clean!
That was great. Haven't really given this album much run but maybe I'll give it another chance.
1:30 sec into the video, is that moment when you realize you like RUclips covers more then the album tracks, no joke, god bless all things technology and z RUclips's
This song has got some Old Man's Child in it. Yeah Galder i know haha
Only difference is on the main riff, Daray does 16th on the hats and singles on the super fast double bass. Other than that perfect
Dude, you're f**ing amazing.
This is such a great song!
Dimmu should hire you, Samus! Great playing as usual!
R u ready kids?
Æ Æ Æ Captain!!!
Im glad u took those heads off they were just to boingy like even runed perfectly..the black hydraulics are much better m..yes even with the little gell things u use helps alot to keep them tight and not linger n sound..
Mi piacerebbe ascoltare eseguita da te dei DIMMU BORGIR "I am sovereign", grazie!
Holy shit. You're great!
liked the jello spider on snare, I have one like that on floor tom too
Nicely done, sir...nicely done....🤘
Excellent kick!!!!
On this song dimmu borgir sounds like a satyricon
Lobo BZ Black n’ roll vibe
sound like old man's child
Please cover the chosen legacy I would love to hear you do the double bass
Their new album is so sick!
Great work man !!!!!!
2:36, best part of the song.
This is my favorite song from the new album! Long time Dimmu fan!
That double bass :D
YES!!!!!! 🤘💀🤘 Dayum!!!!! Love it!!!!
Dude! Badass!!
Please tell what is the purpose of this jelly thing on his drum thx
It's called moongel and it dampens the drums, so they don't ring out for too long and produce unwanted harmonics.
Great job dude!!!
I wish your bass drum was my head , I could've got a really good massage because man you hit it so smoothly
Genial 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Great covers! I really like Eonian. I always interpret the verse as using both hands on the hi-hat though! Not linear :) Both make sense though!
Tight and clean!
Really good work there sir \m/ }:> \m/
Smooth, fast, serene, bold
What an amazing drums! Can u please make video on Hypocrisy - Taste An Extreme Divinity or any song from this album? Thanks!
How does he remove the drums from the original song? Or did he somehow just turn down the volume on the original drums so they cant be heard beneath his own drums? Is that even possible?
WOW :) Nice Works on the Drums :) Kneefall to you :)
The best drummer for every
u r d beast bro
u r d beast bro
66Seamus is a great drummer in deed
greeeat work!!
this is so catchy
Hi. What about Dimmu Borgir Blessing Upon the Throne of Tyranny?
Man I still think it would be killer if you added real drum tracks to Wintersun's Forest Seasons. Isolated tracks are available.
OOOOOOOOOOOO YEEEEEEEAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!
Poum-tss-ka-tss-poum-tss-ka-tss-poum-tss-ka-tss-poum-tss-ka
disco
I miss Puritannical Euphoric Misantrophia :(
Eirik Halvorsen Photography - what an album. I miss Nicholas Barker and Vortex.
After Puritannical I think they lost the edge. Still one of the hardest metal albums out there. Almost 20 years old and the guitars tuned in E!
Eirik Halvorsen Photography long gone are those days. I'm just happy I saw them in 03 with Barker and Mustis...oh and vortex!!!
Yeah me too! I saw them on a small stage (500people) in -01 or -02. So good!
I miss Vortex ;(
this song is great
Great cover \m/
Fucking love the new Dimmu Album
Great job
Wow!
Bravo!!!
Æwsome Æi låved æt

Its so groovy

Fucking great!!!
How does he pull of those bass drum doubles at the end?
Really amazing Samus ImI
