It's really great seeing more and more people saying what I've been saying for more than 20 years now, regarding Nick's work. It was 1996 when I bought CoF's Vempire EP and discovered his drumming. I'm not even a drummer, I'm a guitar player, and back then I was just a 13 year old teenager discovering extreme metal, but I knew a bunch of extreme metal bands already. None, NONE, had that kind of fast, precise, dynamic and, above all, MUSICAL drumming. Nick is a school of his own, pediod.
@@JaimeNoro Well I am a drummer and I can tell you that you're absolutely right. Nick might be the greatest of all time. I think his best work is on the Old Man's Child album 'In defiance of existence'.

You and Barker both play the drums with this melodic element that puts the drums on a whole other level. It's not just rhythm, you're using high and low frequency pieces to accompany the melody. It's unreal.

One of my favourite DB songs. When I first heard Spiritual Black Dimension Nick Barker had just joined and with me being a huge fan of his from COF I couldn't wait to hear him play this.
This was the best lineup for me.

Completely agree this was their best line up, whenever I hear this song I hear Nick Barker's fills and placements cos they are much better than the original, also this Germany show from the DVD is still the best example of Dimmu live IMO! Great job dude, awesome cover as always!

Man I come back to this video all the time, still. Hearing it 6 years ago was the first time I'd heard it (wasn't super familiar with Dimmu at the time) and wow, the combination of the live version and your phat drum sound is magical.

Although it's not my taste in drumming, there is no denying the complexity and skill level to play this so evenly with that kind of speed. I think I saw multiple examples of alternating 32 's which is no easy feat at the bpm. Speaking of feet, his doubles on the double bass drum are impressive.
