Whats your favorite generation GTI?! Reply and let us know! PS, don't forget to subscribe! --> bit.ly/2x8fvNX
My personal favorite is the Mark V R32. The Mark 5 in general is just a great generation for the GTI.
I own a mk7 but the Mk4 r32 is the best body in my opinion. The vr6 engine has the best sound to ever come out of a Volkswagen.
I have a MKV GTI but my favorite by far is the MKII.

That just means you don’t have real German blood....
If the GTI doesn't have a Check Engine light then it's not a Genuine VW
Mk1 rabbit doesn’t have one.
Unless you’re smart human being with a brain.

@@theblackmambaplague I know lol. I was just saying it as a joke
Guess my MK6 wasn't a real VW GTI. Nor is my MK7 because both have been fine. I did get the EPC light a number of times but that was when I had a cracked intake manifold and for some reason my coil packs would come loose. Once we figured out what was going on though didn't see anything until I traded it at 115k when I just decided I wanted more power and I wanted to try out the DSG.

@@Kodiakcatdog I know that. But in here in Europe ( Finland for me ) the juke as a platform is a *Crossover* , it's a big tall car. when you say hot hatchback to me , I tend to imagine cars like : VW golf or polo GTi , Ford fiesta ST , Suzuki swift sport, Hyundai i30N , Audi S1, Mercedes Benz A35 AMG, BMW M1 F20-21 ect and to name a few. A hot hatchback shouldn't be that tall and have that much ground clearance, I'm not implying that hatchbacks should be slanted, but should be the right hight and size. I'm 17 years old, I have a mk6 gti and I tell this to everybody. Change your timing kit soon as possible. Stretched timing chain is no good day. When I got mine, it was misfiring and I tore apart the engine. Cleaned inside the head. Brand new timing kit, fuel injectors, spark plugs and coils, head, exhaust and intake gasket changed. Take care of it before you have fun with it.

I bought my mk6 gti at 142k, it just had the timing and some other stuff done at 140k so I jumped on it for the amazing deal that it was. (So in every other GTI owner ever lmao) no 2 step though

you have no idea how much i love you Alex hahahahah. never fail to make me laugh in front of my computer
...love my mk5 GTI.
Despite many of the comments online, the engine shouldn’t be rattling and mine doesn’t burn oil either. To be fair I spent a fair amount of pounds on the engine to make it 100% right, the chain tensioner had some play. Now it’s smooth and quite, I can’t hear it at idle.
Also the previous owner really took care of it, the interiors look mint, after 13 years, it’s still a nice place to be and a good Car Play radio gives to the dashboard a modern touch (Pioneer...) Dual clima, heated (tartan) seats, cruise control and all, I don’t miss my previous A6 Avant 3.0 tdi quattro (I miss the quattro system a bit and the tiptronic gearbox maybe, but I had to sell it due the ULEZ charges in central London)...overall a good car, fast enough, spacious, comfortable and not too thirsty either.
Find one that hasn’t be trashed (not easy I know) look after it with regular maintenance and it will be a reliable companion...and even stock, it does make a great noise especially inside tunnels...touching wood, not engine lights ON yes haha..
Thank you for making my video. Love you guys 😘

MK6 manual here. 1.25" drop on VWR Sport springs, APR intake and downpipe with a Stage 2 tune. Piano-black wrap on the roof, and 30% tint, Forged DV and catch can for longevity. 86k miles and still strong, no lights (knock knock)
I've been working on getting it back to scratch. The former owner messed up the interior pretty bad with some lame mods (reupholstered all pillars and the roof liner, and the meddling shorts out my sunroof)
Next step will be wheels and exterior mods, and general "show'n'shine" stuff, then going ham and putting the K04 turbo on it. 'Genuine VW Moneypit' sticker was a must-have, lol

Just picked up a 2005 GTI 1.8t. I absolutely love it. It has a wonderful exhaust note
I like them so much I bought two! Love my MK4 VR6 and my MK7 GTI. Those VR6s can be temperamental, but so worth it.
I love my mk7. Great interior and and a mix of soft curves and sharp body lines on the outside. EA888 engine is highly tuneable and mixed with a DSG can give much more expensive cars a run for their money when tuned and built properly. If you want roll racing go with a GTI if you want digs go for the golf R. Throw an LSD in and the thing corners awesome as well. I’ve never been a huge Volkswagen fan but I wouldn’t trade my GTI for anything at this point because it puts a smile on my face every time I get to drive or see it.
Yes!
Having a GTI and not being a VW fan is weird though...

I fall in the WRX (so u want ) group. I’ll be honest ..... I don’t fit the mold as much as the younger gen, but I will be heavily modding it, yes with Cobb, yes, a knob change, yes the plate relocation kit, yes dropped and offset 5 star rims..... yes yes yes. Lol

Euro customs stage 2 ecu with 2-step of course 320cc injectors r8 coilpacks cts intake 3 in eurocustoms catless down pipe 3 in straight pipe forge splitter bov. I would define it as quick but not fast. As of right now im at about 280 wheel. Loved it so far
I have a Mk6 Gti and I can say that its a great car. It has 158k miles and no issues. I can say that Ive spend a lot of money on repairs tho. My advice tho is to just know what your buying because at the end of the day, it is a German car.

Love the video! I’ve had my 14 Mk6 GTi for 5 months already and it’s been a blast. After the APR tune it feels like a different car. You’re also spot on about the different trim levels. 😂 Mine is the drivers Edition with everything but parking sensors and KESSY. My neighbor has a 12 Wolfsburg with KESSY, and parking sensors. My coworker had the same 12 Wolfsburg without parking sensors, KESSY, or HID’s. I think Volkswagen just threw a bunch of parts in a crockpot and called it whatever trim seemed cool. 😂

Had a 2005 Jetta gli with the 1.8 never lose.. loved that car, I built it as a daily/racer(not smart) but by the end of it was pushing 490 to the wheels. Great suggestion! That would be a pretty fun video! 🤘
I had two gtis, one mk4 and one mk6. Neither one had 2 step, must’ve been doing gti ownership wrong. The mk6 was actually very reliable (we won’t talk about the mk4) and I never got a cel through my ownership of the car. It had a ko4s swapped into it and made 363hp and 382ftlbstq. That car was a ridiculous amount of fun and got great gas mileage. I will own another at some point
Love my MK5, decently quick, comfortable, relatively easy to work on. Just make sure you do your research because there is a ton of small shit that goes wrong that is very easily avoided if preventative maintenance is done. Love it tho, great car for the money
