Initially the MkII GTI was only made in Red, Black or Silver. One day in 1985 I told my GF
"I saw a White one at the dealer today!"
She said "Will you shut up about that car! Just buy one already".
I drove it for 13 years until someone hit me.

Hi GTI Bro! Im at Stage 1 on my GTI Clubsport MK7. Its got a Custom Cobra Sport NonRes catback, + Invidia downpipe on racecat. Absolute love that deep sound... Its just pushing around 380 hp 470 nm torque or so. But im pretty happy, its no slouch lol. Then off course it have a integrated engineering intake which looks stunning in carbon fiber! Had it since its launched 6 years ago! Next up is a TCU tune for the DSG. It will be the best according to many youtubers: TVS Engineering from The Netherlands! Could recomend checking them out, if one has the DSG Box! 👍

The DSG is a large part of the Golf's success.
Especially given the shrinking share of manuals on the road, the fact that most manufacturers aren't making manuals as stout as in the past, and given the liabilities with warranties that can impact manual drivers who accidentally money shift.
The DSG is quite stout and fun to use, especially when tuned.
And who doesn't love a good DSG fart!

Check for maintenance and see if there is history with VW that can show that the tensioner has been done and/or timing chain replacement. Also if it has an extensive list of repairs or quite a few previous owners, chances are it’s a questionable purchase and I’d seek a technicians help with making the final decision.
