Trade him to LA for Pierre Luc Dubois
Imagine 😭
I think that would be hilarious!
What would be even better would be if PLD approved the deal now that Jarmo isn’t in Columbus.
@@DneilB007jarmo or torts?or both . I thought it was the coach he had real beef with
I legitimately want this to happen
@@DneilB007 If the deal is done before July 1 PLD's NMC doesn't hit yet
I'd be more worried about Laine staying healthy than if he were the sort of player to cause drama in the locker room.
Yep, not a fan of the narrative going around that he is some diva.
@@davewhite1248the guys had a rough few years bro give him a break
@davewhite1248 He’s human, even if he has loads money, he can still have mental health issues.
@@davewhite1248 if I was signing his paycheques I would not be talking to people like u in the RUclips comment section
i'd rather have an injured player than a toxic one. i don't think laine is the latter, but the player he was dealt for most certainly is.
that said, finding a fit for laine could be difficult.
Damn. Remember when people were having serious debate about whether Laine or Matthews was better? That feels like a lifetime ago
Damn I fell for the clickbait Habs logo
Not clickbait but okay
@@jonah.donohue I fell for it too, it was clickbait.
@@jonah.donohuewhen something shown in the thumbnail and isn’t either mentioned or showed in the video, yes that’s clickbait, not a massive one still fits in the category.
a habs trade would probably be anderson and a 2nd, and...vinzenz rohrer.
@@f-twelve7155Habs have still been quite involved in Laine rumours. With that context it’s not really clickbait, the content of this video is just what OhNyquist thinks could happen.
I hope Laine goes to Utah, he’ll be a great piece on a team with a lot of youth and potential
Imagine him in a panthers jersey on the same line with barkov if they can’t resign reinhart or even montour.
@@davewhite1248 he did say “fresh start” so why not have a fresh start with a team that’s gonna win the cup?
Could be deadly on the power play with Maccelli's play making abilities
@@jannemiettinen4499 that’s what they said about Gaudreau when they both got signed. Gaudreau came off a career year as well so it’s only right to put him on the right wing of barkov. both finland too.
How about no lol. Canucks are trading Mikheyev to Utah to free up cap space
Love the idea of Laine to Vancouver. Boeser dealt with the loss of his father around the same time and I could see the team providing him some real support.
Kuz didn’t work under tochet I can’t see Laine being much different!
How dare you put the habs logo. Was waiting for it!
Same
Same too, didn't expect that clickbait mentality from that channel.
Yeah my father suddenly passed two years ago the day after fathers day and im still dealing with it. Its somethinf that effects everything. Had only a week off and right back to work and to act like nothing happened.
Very sorry to hear, I hope you’re doing well. 🫶
I’m surprised someone else in the comments didn’t point this out, but you said NYI was the only playoff team when Canucks were in… and much longer at that. Cheers! Great vid!
Love the trailer park boys reference 😂
...it's all just water under the fridge.......
I have a hard time believing he will only get such small returns. Let’s not forget he was ppg two years ago and close to it last season.
Look at the coaches he has played for .. he just doesn't put any effort into playing any defense.
Can't do that in NHL.
@@williamarmour1656Patty Kane and Kucherov are some of the most low-effort D-Zone players ever and they are both playoff beasts/multi-cup winners - If Laine is sniping like he can then defence won’t be a concern
Perfect take.
Yeah and hasn't played a full season in half a decade
Agree!
Laine back to winnipeg! The reason he wanted out last time was cause of wheeler who is gone now.
Not a F'n chance. Laine sucks
Laine needs TWO things
1) A good passer
2) A coach who trusts him as powerplay player
@@goenzoy712 he had a coach that's been to the Stanley cup final 2 years in a row with a stacked team in 2018. Laine is a bum.
@@evictioncarpentry2628Just because coach has been in finals, doesn't mean he can handle every type of player right
@@Kone5497 Wahhh wahhh wahh...that you Laine?
Yoo two birds stoned at once haha tpb i reference that all the time
I was actually just commenting on Vancouver trading mikayev for Laine with some sort of lower end prospect and picks. Great trade idea
Florida doesent resign Reinhart and end up getting Laine.
Laine played his best hockey under Maurice coaching.
Barkov is his good friend and would be perfect center for him as it would let Laine focus on offence.
Laine would fit very well to Floridas PP. Verheage isnt so good at that spot as he is left.
Ofc its not very likely. Reinhart would need to ask too much, Columbus retain big chunk of his contract and price wouldnt be high. I really would like that Laine gets on going again and becomes +40 goal scorer. And Barkov/Lundell are centers that would be perfect for him and let him be that offensive force he is at his best.
This would be a fantastic trade all around for both organizations and for Laine's mental health. Maybe have Ehlers traded to Florida as well for one of their top 4 defenseman and a Laine Barkov and Ehlers line could create some unreal magic.
Florida would be a good fit for him for every reason you listed.
I wouldn't be surprised either. Florida is the master of identifying buy low opportunities and elevating those players to their peak potential. (Flames fan here, not bitter about Bennet at all).
@@CallsignJoNay And Bennet isnt even top3 steal by current team 😅
@@karvakasiedward4002 I know! It's crazy.
can you make a vid breaking down how to analyze trade scenarios and all that offseason finance sports talk?
I would love the hawks to go after him. Especially if that mock trade is all we have to give up. Getting Laine and another legit top or middle 6 player in FA would definitely help Bedard.
Chicago NEEDS to try and get him. Outside of Bedard, nobody on the team wants to shoot the puck, and Laine is excellent at that. Cap isn't an issue for the next 2 years so take a chance on him
Too injury prone unfortunately.
Laine’s health worries me but other then that I’d love this guy on the habs
That Vancouver trade doesn't seem likely. The second is the cost just to dump the Mikheyev contract so you have the Laine part of the trade is essentially retaining and getting Nielsen and a 5th. He might not have a ton of value but with retention I expect he gets more than that.
The return for Columbus definitely would not be like the return they got when they traded Dubois for him. I think the return would be either a potential high-end prospect plus some late draft picks, maybe like two 4ths or a 3rd and 6th. Or maybe two mid prospects plus a 3rd or a 2nd pick. Also, I wouldn't be surprised to see just a player for player trade with money retained. Maybe Laine for Necas. Also, don't count out the jackets, including someone else in a trade with Laine. Alex Texier, Kent Johnsons, Nick Blankenburg, and Ivan Provorov names have come up in recent trade talks as well.
I can see nashville and Columbus working out a deal for Laine, with nashville sending Nyqvist. Love the videos, much love ❤️
Columbus doesn't want Nyquist back.
Wherever he goes I just hope he can stay healthy and produce. Laine has always had the potential to be an entertaining player like he was his first 2 seasons.
If Laine goes for a Second that’s crazy nonsense, just don’t trade him at that point, wait until he plays a bit and then trade him
Your comment makes too much sense for the vast majority of delucional fandom.
We all have this false perception that Laine is actually good - when he isn’t…
He is
Almost any player that john tortorella hates turns out to be a locker room cancer. Even duclair has played for 8 different teams something is off
For marketing purposes Anaheim makes sense with Selanne being their all time leading goal scorer. He may have additional support there. California would love him.
9mil and no healthy season for years? No thanks. Only way any deal gets done is if colombus and another team retains salary
Maybe if it’s a contender trying to get him, but I think teams towards the bottom of the league with tons of cap space will take a gamble since he only has 2 years left on his deal.
Is a good point.
He’s either going to be retained or cheap.
Sucks for cbj but they’re gonna share in the risk of any deal.
Best outcome is trading risk back.
Laine for Pettersson for several reasons and I'm serious. Please make this happen!
No way. Your dreaming
As Columbus is not about to compete for for the 2 years left in Laine's contract, Columbus could easily go all the way to 50% retention and trade Laine for a competing team. As Laine for $8,7M might be a bit risky, but Laine for $4,35M cap hit could be amazing value and easily worth the gamble.
I would love for the Avs to go for Laine, if they somehow would have the cap room. If we pretend that they could free the 4,5M in cap space and trade this years 1st and Oskar Olausson for Laine with 50% cap retention.
The Devils could be a good spot for him at a retained salary. He could be that young goal-scorer who can play on Jack Hughes' wing. He also comes to a team more in a win-now mode
I really like that vancover trade
Me too
Ok I want your opinion on this trade. Jack Campbell and Cody Cici to San Jose for Couture
Keep an eye on Seattle. Theyre looking for a goal scorer to add
Great Video, as usual, Nyquist. I don't see another Pierre Luc Dubois for Patrick Laine Trade & it would be great to see the both of them play on the same team. Let me know what you think
Laine-Bedard-Hall would actually be very fun to watch
halls not resigning dude. next season is the last year of his contract and he doesnt want an extension
Plus there’s no need to add talent, just more high end futures.
@@Rorschachqp you wanna get bedard SOME help.
interesting line, but when they don't have the puck, look out.
@@yourfate92and? That line would play this year
@@doaftheloaf why get him some help? The more games they lose the higher picks they get. They shouldn’t build a line, they should build a team.
Columbus will need to retain a huge chuck of that contract for any team to consider trading for him.
Norris for Laine 1 for 1
Not sure I'd like if the Sens do this but it would be interesting. With players struggle with injuries cap hits are similar could be something there and Laine on Stutzles wing could be a good combo and Norris to center Gaudreau could also be a good combo
Man that Laine/Dubois trade has to be one of the biggest lose/lose trades in recent history
I mean the Jets ended up doing pretty well with Vilardi!
@@OhNyquistI can’t believe the we got vilardi in that trade. Guy is an absolute stud on and off the ice, def a fan favourite
It’s a very bad look for Waddell’s first trade in Columbus to be a complete L, and really all of your trades are exactly that-complete losses for Columbus. Laine is not a cancer in the room; that has never been a storyline in Columbus, ever. And that’s with three successive coaches trying to turn him into something he’s not. There’s never been anything about him not being all-in for the team; I think everyone has recognized that he’s a round peg in a square hole, but nobody around the team has ever said he wasn’t trying.
What I can see happening in a trade is that he goes for a “B” prospect, an inefficient contract, and a conditional 2025 or 2026 pick, where the pick goes from a third to a second to a first, depending on the number of games played for the new team. I don’t think you can make conditions for a trade based on performance, but it’s a good bet that if Laine plays 55+ games, he’ll get the points that makes the trade worthwhile.
I wonder if Seattle would be interested in getting him. Their young centres play the type of game that Laine could thrive at, he wouldn’t need to be too defensively minded and could focus on attacking, and they have some good veteran depth, which is something that Waddell has talked about adding to the young core in Columbus.
Hey...I called this!!! I said Laine would be traded in the off season...I wish you would have put it on yr show yesterday. Oh well...haha
I dont see Laine in Vancouver, if Canada is that Hockey crazy what people say, i think Laine dont want that kind of critism. I can imagine that the media is the same as in Finland during the World champions. Barkov and Laine is good friends together, and they practice together in summer times in Finland!
There’s some risqué women here who really likes you content
Damn bots, happens on every video.
With those prices I would hope Seattle would be in on Laine
Carolina! Aho, Laine and puljujärvi playd well together U20 champions, so maybe but i dont know but Necas and Laine trade?
Wherever he goes, I only hope that he has a healthy season
Trade him to Calgary for Coleman,he would help Columbus.Put Laine with Huberdeau and Kuzmenko,Huberdeau can play center
Bro slow down I can’t keep up😭
Fr brother
Oh seriously dude? If you’ve got trouble keeping up here, I’d recommend staying away from Lego 99’s channel.
Still watching him at 1.25 speed
I really wish with all my heart Patrik Laine finds his way to Utah. A lot of people don’t actually see how much talent Utah could have this year with such young players. Plus, Patrik would be such a great leader for all of these players and could release his talent with this team and I think he would have a breakout season.
you hype berggren so much making me think the blackhawks should trade the wings 18 for him straight up
Chicago makes sense but he clearly is never happy and that contract is bad
Just another idea.. Laine for Huberdeau. Two guys who need a change of scenery.
This is creative and interesting.
awful contract for awful contract
With Laine wanting out, I think its time to seriously consider moving the Jackets to another city with different owners obviously. Players dont want to go there and those who do go there end up regretting it. Dont hang on like they did in Arizona and don't go back like they did with Atlanta and potentially have planned with Arizona. Cut there loses, move on and forget.
''The ilsanders are the only team on my list that made the playoffs last year'' Vancouver: Am I a joke to you?
“Laine’s better!” Jets fans 💀
Let Toronto scoop him, have both Matthews and Laine
I could see Laine going for Chytil plus a 3rd and a mid-tier prospect (Maybe Berard or Edström), with CBJ holding some cap. Waddell and JD have a history of dealing with the Rangers. Columbus is weak in the center, and Chytil doesn't justify his salary playing 3C. Rangers need a RW to play with the BFFs.
Tampa should go trade for him I think he’d fit in perfectly with there play style especially the power play
I think a first rounder will be in the mix for retaining 25-50% of his cap hit
I'm a Columbus fan and I really like Laine. He can be a beast. I understand that he has been through a lot over the last few years. I just want to see the man to be successful.
Laine for Groulx and some picks feels too good for Anaheim lmao. Would love to see it 😂
Looks perfect for the Leafs
A line with Tage Thompson and Laine would be scary.
Sticks are too long and shots too hard.
And tage is enough of a hero puck hog that laine would find a lot of quiet ice.
I really wanted Laine to work here but its pretty clear it hasn't. I hope he gets somewhere he fits well and can get his life back together. Godspeed.
Get 2 bird stoned at once 🤘🏼😂
To San Jose for Ethan Cardwell, Mario Ferraro, Jake furlong
That’d be an absolute home run deal for the Ducks
I think whoever ends up getting him, the deal will age very well.
@@davewhite1248 he had respectable defensive metrics on a bad Columbus team and would fit perfectly on the Ducks as a pure finisher who wouldn’t have to be an offensive driver
@@davewhite1248 Vincent was an awful first-year coach, those healthy scratches scratched were reactionary and unwarranted. Outside of Cutter Anaheim doesn’t have a pure shooter, and Laine is an established finisher in this league
i think the ducks would send a salary though. brock mcginn, maybe. or even ryan strome.
@@doaftheloaf I’d be jumping for joy if Strome was gone
do you think the rangers are in play for laine to fill their top 6 hole?
Well it makes no sense to break Panarin, Trocheck, Lafreniere line. He could work with Kreider and Zibanejad but he likes to play left wing which Kreider is aswell. Could be some adjustments needed for that to work but who knows.
Need him in Toronto
debrusk for laine?
5:12 yessirrrr bud
Big wiff here not including a Montreal trade , he was already rumored to Montreal before the announcement he wanted out
The range in value from just RUclipsrs is pretty wild. In the ‘loose lint and a McDonald’s BBQ packet’ to ‘BlueJackets fan dream’ scale, this is a lot closer to the link and bbq. The real value will probably be somewhere in between, but the trades listed here are basically the Jackets loosing SOMETHING and getting nothing. Not sure that’ll fly.
Could totally see Laine in Nashville. They’re looking for a scorer, especially after that Vancouver series. Maybe a guy like Tomasino and a pick on top of him would get it done

I’d do that Canucks trade in a heart beat! Hope daddy Allvin can cook
Gaming addiction is no joke. Can't imagine how much he's spent on V bucks, pizza pops, and Mountain Dew.
Phil Kessel has taught me to only care about what happens on the ice between the whistles.
Yes, a tough time, because nobody's father ever dies.
I feel like Colorado should be in on Laine. Losing Val for nothing hurts, I believe Laine and Rantanen are friends or at least have played worlds/trained together so might be a good place for him to go.
Chicago wants him for Bedard and the #2 pick. His value is super high 😆 🤣 😂
If he could stay healthy I'd say Chicago should trade for him. He'd play great with Bedard
hawks lack finnish, laine checks the box!!
The best looking deal in a CBJ fans opinion is the islanders trade
I hope ehlers and laine end up on the same team
Imma stay on my side that Laine is excellent in stl: I want him. High five patty, happy if you end up on my team. Huge fan. Sucks there was challenging times. Lots of us have challenging times. It’s okay.
Tarasenko and Perron leave, power play goes to last in league. Entire system is built for a shooter. Vrana did not slot in, so the slot is still open. He is similar age to Thomas and Kyrou. Blues are 2 shooters short, snuggerud can slot in too in a year.
Laine’s career stats -> he’s absolutely torched Stl more than any other team. Pain is the best teacher. Stl would know what to do with him more than anybody else because they felt it the most.
Offer: Perunovich. If I have to add you can grab off my draft pick shelf but hands off the top shelf.
Bro, generally speaking I love your vids. However are you able to do ONE without saying "Player X" should goto the Redwings, seriously though I do like your videos
Unless Columbus gives them their 2nd in this draft, the Flyers will have the Blue Jackets 2025 2nd round pick.
If those are the best offers that are made for him there simply wont be a trade.
What about carolina? Bit risky for them, but something like Laine 50% retained plus a 2nd and a 3rd for necas? A bonifide scorer to maybe even upgrade on guentzel and columbus gets someone who fits their timeline nicely, and Necas can play the big minutes he wants to there
Would rather see the Canes go for a more sure fire deal
Utah would be ideal imo
Necas for Laine with salary retained. Laine reunites with Aho who he played with back at World Juniors.
laine is kind of a gamble but reuniting with aho could help him
Youre undervaluing Laine
To seattle for Wright, 2nd, prospect
I’m a biased CBJ fan, but I think you’re low on all these values. Last year was brutal, but it was because of two dirty hits and his father’s passing. He’s much closer to the 1.0 PPG player he was a couple years ago than the 0.5 PPG player he was last year, and he’s probably a $6-7M player when healthy.
I think he gets one guaranteed first with Columbus retaining $2M, and a conditional pick that upgrades if he hits a threshold of number of games played or goals scored.
How would you feel about the following trade?
Avs get: Patrik Laine, 50% cap retention
CBJ get: Avs 2025 1st round pick + Oskar Olausson
@@MikaTuukkanen I’d be mostly fine with that, and I wouldn’t be mad if it was the return, but the sticking point is just retention. Again, I think he’s a $6-7M player, so retaining $2-2.7M on him should be expected.
But to get the extra 2ish million to get him at 50% retained? For two years? I think CBJ ask market value for that, which is costly (probably somewhere between multiple 3rds and a single 1st on its own).
It’s getting there, but ultimately I think someone like a MTL or ANA could offer a similar package while only needing $2M retained, and Columbus opts for that.
@@mikeciccone i don't see the cap retention bothering cbj, as they won't be a competitive team in the next two years. It's just do they try to really cash in with it. And the Avs likely cant fit Laine even with 50% retention, so with the Avs, that would have to be a starting point for the trade.
@@MikaTuukkanen I don't think the retention would bother CBJ, but I do think they'd make a team pay for it, and that market value can be pretty hefty. I could more easily see Columbus taking back an overpaid roster player (like a Mikheyev in VAN), since Columbus' MO has been overpay players to play here rather than retain and pay players not to play here. It's all just my personal prediction, though ($2M retained, salary back, conditional picks, etc.). There's so many moving parts, I could easily see Olausson and a 1st being the winning bid.
Utah Jazz have Markanen and Utah hockey club would be fun. I think Laine needs some Finnish players around him.
Appreciate your content but one thing id like to say is i think youre beating the Nik Ehlers trade drum a bit too hard. You mentioned it again in this video, and while i understand where youre coming from Jets New Head Coach Scott Arniel said he "needs" a player like ehlers on his roster. I think ultimately they keep him to see how he fits in with a coach that actually admires his services.
To Toronto: David Jiricek and Patrick Laine
To Columbus: Mitch Marner and Timothy Liljegrin
Columbus gets the winger they wanted Geaudreau to be, and might play well with as they have similar styles. Clear upgrade on laine for their rush style offense.
They also get Lili who shows incredible promise from time to time but doesn't yet have the consistency. Downgrade from Jiri but is the price to be rid of Laine and gain a 100 point winger.
Toronto gets another one timer threat allowing them to deploy a Tampa style 1-3-1 powerplay with snipers (Matty, Nylander and Laine) at both sides and as a high foreward.
And for trading Marner receive their potential partner for Morgan Reilly. A young defenseman with potential to be a perfect #2 defenseman with skill, grit and intelligence.
This sounds like the purest hockey trade to be made. I’d like to see Laine do well and prove all those wrong with how he was treated during his hardships. He would slot perfectly in Toronto and handle the media coverage well imo. -> from a Bruins fan =)
I like Marner going to a perennial non playoff team such as Columbus. He’s already not built for playoff hockey. He belongs on the golf course come Springtime.
Laine, on the other hand, would fit best on a team that has playoff aspirations. Personally I like the Red Wings deal that OhNyquist offered up.
@davidwhite2002 Thanks, bud! I thought so too. Both teams take a bit of risk, yet if the risk pans out, they both end up more well-rounded at positional needs.
@stephentyler4352 Detroit didn't make the playoffs, are about to lose Kane and overachieved this year. I like them but I don't think they're a playoff threat till their top prospects start breaking out. Need Edvinsson to be a #2 Dman, Sandin-Pellikka to have a solid season, and at least one of Danielson, Kasper or Mazur to break out in a big way. Could happen that all happens at once, but I kinda doubt it. Hope to be wrong though as I like the wings. Debby is a beast!
that's...actually not a stupid idea. but i don't think cbj is willing to risk jiricek for it. unless marner comes with an extension.
thing is, though, marner and gaudreau are basically the same player.
Didn't he need a "change in scenery" in Winnipeg?
Laine to Chicago would be beautiful
I still think laine could come to Minnesota. Wild desperately need a second line scorer sniper. I think it could be as simple as patrick laine for gustavson, Johansson and atleast a prospect or pick. Wild likely will have wallstedt in the big show all year so they dont need gus and Johansson is who will be replaced by laine. Columbus also desperately need goaltending
Laine to the Habs for MTL's 2024 3rd round pick and Riley Kidney
