    Just finished installing these springs in my ram 1500. They are awsome. My truck is always loaded with 500 to a 1000 lbs. Did the install with it fully loaded inbthe ground n under 2 hrs with a buddy. They are awsome as i gained 3 to 4 inches in overall hieght and it rides great.

    I had S.S change my rear springs. Raised the rear an inch and half. Can't tell the ride difference from stock with no load, well maybe slightly. I towed a 25 foot travel trailer out east, wow huge improvement! Measured only an inch of squat when loaded....full bed and the loaded trailer. I highly recommend this upgrade. Thanks guys!

      just a little FYI
      351-893HD lift is 0.5"
      351-893XHD lift is 1.5" at the rear wheels
      They are basically made the same way just one is taller than the other for more ride height/carrying capacity

      An alignment on the rear wheels??

    • @simcoespring
      @simcoespring  Год назад +1

      You should get an aliment after any height adjustment of a vehicle, however not totally necessary when putting in rear coil springs as there is no adjustment on the rear axle.
      However, you can get an alignment just for a precaution because of the shift in weight distribution as there will be a slight increase of weight on the front axle. Alignments are cheap compared to wasting a good set of tires.

    • @simcoespring

      There are two different styles of air suspension.
      Coil insert design which you install inside the coil spring, I do not recommend them at all.
      Then there is the style where you mount it beside the coil and if you go air ride, this is the way to go. However the coil springs are super easy to install and are usually cheaper now a days with the price of air kits going up. Plus with the coil spring you just install them and forget about it. Just keep driving. Air bags, we always recommend checking the air pressure at least every month.

      @@simcoespring Yeah the in coil ones didn't look like a great idea to me. The ones that replace the bump stops look like a much better idea but I always thought they were bolt on, when I saw guys cutting the bump stops off with a Sawzall and the kit came with self tappers, I was less interested . I figured I might aswell see if I can just get stiffer springs and deal with the stiffer ride. Now that I see they make progressive rate springs for this , it seems like that's really the way to go.

    I was looking to go with an inch spacer in rear as my Bilstein 5100’s up front leave my front about 9/16” higher than the rear. I just got a trailer so figured lil lift in back would make sense. Then I thought of better coils. My 4x4 shop says I would need new rear shocks as well (also said same w the spacer). Any opinion to that. I like this coil option, would make sense for me.

    What springs would be ideal for a truck that’s lifted 4.5” on the rear? It’s lifted by a 1.5” spacer and then 3” of coil springs. It’s the original parts the lift kit came with but once the bed it’s loaded with tools it lowers it significantly. Ram 2010 and it is 2wd 🙊

    • @simcoespring
      @simcoespring  2 года назад

      If it is "lift kit" coil springs, I don't know if there is much you can change. Our XHD coils only lift it about 1-1.5" at the rear. Which doesn't compare to the 3" lift coils.

    With the commercial duty coils on a 14 ram 1500 , can you use / recommend using air lift air bags that fit inside the coils I have some on my truck now and looking about getting some new coils . I'm wondering if they are work together.

    • @simcoespring
      @simcoespring  Год назад +1

      you CAN use the air bags inside the coil spring. I don't normally recommend using the coil-rite or the coil inserted air bags. We have had issues with them in the past rubbing on the coil and popping.
      However they do fit and you can use them, it is all compatible.
      If you are towing or using the truck to move weight a lot, then I recommend the 351-893XHD coils and they work quite well on their own. They also lift the rear of the vehicle by 1.5" which will give you more height/clearance for when you load the vehicle up.

    • @simcoespring
      @simcoespring  Год назад

      Either coil will do, the commercial grade coils will give you 1.5" of more height at the rear wheels. The recreational coils only lift 0.5" so i would use that info to help you choose.

      very rarely have we used this, but we have. There is a "spacer" that we can give you to make the Timbren SES kit taller to match the new ride height of the truck because the coil spring will lift the truck about 1 inch.

    Do I understand this in the right manner!? Progressive springs are installed at the rear and linear ones at the front? Just want to get a good setup. I would install the XHD 893 at the rear and the 1240 HD at the front in conjunction with the Bilstein 5100.

    • @simcoespring
      @simcoespring  Год назад +1

      The 350-1240HD are a constant rate coil spring with +35% more capacity. I would only recommend using those coils if you have a slide-in camper, tow bumper, or plow on the front of the truck. you cannot get a progressive or variable rate for the front because it is already, because of the engine, mostly at max capacity already. having a variable rate coil for the front is counter-productive and wouldn't actually have any real function.

    How is the ride after installing the xhd coil springs?

    • @simcoespring
      @simcoespring  3 года назад +2

      Because it's veritable rate it will ride better than any other heavy duty coil. It gets stiffer the more weight you put in the box (or tow behind) but i don't see a drastic change in ride quality when you are empty, or else I wouldn't want to sell them. If you strictly go from empty truck to full towing like 5th wheel trailer towing or loads of firewood, salter/sanders or plows. I would recommend the Timbren SES Kits instead.

      The manufacturer only tells us that the coil springs are heavy duty with 70% more carrying capacity. It doesn't change the stats of the truck at all, you are still limited to your GVRW. Whatever way your vehicle was manufactured at is what you still have. your max payload is still 1523 and your max towing will still be 8200. • @simcoespring
      @simcoespring  3 года назад +4

      the 30% don't raise the vehicle very much. Maybe 1/2". The 70% raise the rear up between 1 and 1.5" at the wheel well.

    • @BjBnet
      @BjBnet 2 года назад

      I just installed the 30% ones on my 2021 1500. It raised the rear quite a bit, easily 2inches. I'm a little disappointed about that. I didn't measure before and after because I didn't think it would be necessary. I bought these because the height of my truck was perfect and I wanted to keep it that way. I might have to raise the front 2 inches now and I don't do spacers so it's gonna be expensive. I've had lifts in 3 jeeps. I didn't want to raise my truck. Maybe after towing a couple of times the springs might settle a bit? I'm also wondering if they might have sent me the 70% springs in the wrong box?

    Can I still install these even if I have air bags in the rear ?

    • @simcoespring
      @simcoespring  11 месяцев назад +1

      There are a lot of factors that need to be addressed with this question.
      Air bags that go inside the coil springs, yes. no problem, they are compatible.
      Air bags that go next to the coil between the frame and the axle seat. YES and NO
      Yes, get the ones that don't increase the ride height, so I would go for a coil that keeps the ride height around the same give or take 1/2"
      NO - If you install a coil spring that riases the ride height of the vehicle by over 1" then the air bags won't hook up any more and will be stretched out. you might get away with 1.5", however each air bag system is different and if you stretch out the bags they either won't work anymore or will just pop or tear itself apart.
      Some air bag companies sell "pucks or spacers" for on top or under the air bags to compensate for the extra ride height, but that doesn't come standard with air bag kits.
