It just shows you, you don't need to say f*** every other word or to slag off any group you have a grudge against. None of the nastiness we see today - just pure, inventive, original and FUNNY humour.

Little Tiny Tut was effing and blinding constantly through that routine, language that would make a docker leaf blush, I really do.

    • @BroonParker

And you know the Count is always on the edge of both slagging off anyone and swearing. And his swear words are those that offended not so long ago. (I won't write them in, Google might well disapprove, but maybe watch this again? I will anyway.)

Presumably due to living in a disused Cornish tin mine from which I emerge only at night with a bag over my head, I was unaware of Count Arthur until stumbling across this clip, which bowled me over. (Dodgy metaphor alert...) What a superb, superb man. Long may he dodder.

I just adore Count Arthur Strong. He is a beggar, but you can't help but love him. Although the television series is really great, it is the radio show that I keep going back to.

I remember seeing Count Arthur at the Lewisham Alhambra just after the war. In those days he was support to Bendy Bob and second on the bill to Billy Bugle and his Hoop of Flames. Count Arthur had a knife throwing act at the time. Some say that it was for the best that Arthur found out of his epilepsy at this period. However, others felt that it would have been better had he not had knives in his hands at the time. His beautiful assistant never recovered, neither did the compere waiting in the wings or the ice cream usherette on duty in the balcony. A tragedy, I really do.

A great comic creation. And let me explain something to you. Um, I am not "Mr. Strong". You're Mr. Strong. I'm the Count. So that's what you call me. You know, that.... or, uh..... His Countness, or uh, Counter, or El Counterino, if you're not into the whole brevity thing.
    I really do

Strangely enough I went to the same "memory man" mentor as Count Arthur Strong. We often underwent tuition together, when we could remember where we had to go...and at what time... and who we had to see. We graduated much at the same time. About 4.20 pm if memory serves me rightly. I could see that Arthur was borne for the role. He would often turn up..... Although on occasion he forgot. To this day Arthur remembers not to send me a birthday or Christmas card. Yes I'll never forget ..........whatshisname, a born star, I really do.

Brit comedy ay, it just seems to get betterer and betterer. Spinal Tap(half canadian but,) ...Vampire Motorcycle, Cabin Pressure, League of Gentlemen etc. i only found all this 'new' stuff recently when i discovered RUclips...as i am in NZ. This Count Arthur guy is superb--half piss 'ead, half boy scout leader and half Egyptemologist...a wonderful conflaburation i must, must say- i really do. No doubt an offal ambassador of the highest caliphate as well also

The trouble is that not everyone gets it. For his own audiences (I've seen him 5 times), he's absolutely hysterical. I guess he's like Marmite really, either loved or hated. For a show put on for people who aren't familiar with him it can go either way. I recommend listening to his radio show first to start to understand him. Once you get a handle on his character he's amazing :D
