It just shows you, you don't need to say f*** every other word or to slag off any group you have a grudge against. None of the nastiness we see today - just pure, inventive, original and FUNNY humour.
And you know the Count is always on the edge of both slagging off anyone and swearing. And his swear words are those that offended not so long ago. (I won't write them in, Google might well disapprove, but maybe watch this again? I will anyway.)
I have been through the worst a man could go through and when it was darkest Arthur made me laugh and helped me through for this im forever in debt i got my tickets for 2021 and best believe i will be at stage door for a photo 👊🏻
I just adore Count Arthur Strong. He is a beggar, but you can't help but love him. Although the television series is really great, it is the radio show that I keep going back to.
I remember seeing Count Arthur at the Lewisham Alhambra just after the war. In those days he was support to Bendy Bob and second on the bill to Billy Bugle and his Hoop of Flames. Count Arthur had a knife throwing act at the time. Some say that it was for the best that Arthur found out of his epilepsy at this period. However, others felt that it would have been better had he not had knives in his hands at the time. His beautiful assistant never recovered, neither did the compere waiting in the wings or the ice cream usherette on duty in the balcony. A tragedy, I really do.
Presumably due to living in a disused Cornish tin mine from which I emerge only at night with a bag over my head, I was unaware of Count Arthur until stumbling across this clip, which bowled me over. (Dodgy metaphor alert...) What a superb, superb man. Long may he dodder.
Just saw Count Arthur live doing his tour atm in England. It is the single funniest stage show I have ever seen, and I highly recommend it to anybody who is a Count fan! :D
Sign the petition on line ! The very Stupid BBC are not going to commission another series wich is effin disgusting !!! This guy is a genius and the count must return ! Shame on you BBBC
hilarious ! when we watched this on tv a few weeks ago both my husband and myself were in tears. he is amazing, but i can tell from listening to it again that not all the audience appreciated him. love it. look forward to seeing him live as soon as possible.
Strangely enough I went to the same "memory man" mentor as Count Arthur Strong. We often underwent tuition together, when we could remember where we had to go...and at what time... and who we had to see. We graduated much at the same time. About 4.20 pm if memory serves me rightly. I could see that Arthur was borne for the role. He would often turn up..... Although on occasion he forgot. To this day Arthur remembers not to send me a birthday or Christmas card. Yes I'll never forget ..........whatshisname, a born star, I really do.
Brit comedy ay, it just seems to get betterer and betterer. Spinal Tap(half canadian but,) ...Vampire Motorcycle, Cabin Pressure, League of Gentlemen etc. i only found all this 'new' stuff recently when i discovered RUclips...as i am in NZ. This Count Arthur guy is superb--half piss 'ead, half boy scout leader and half Egyptemologist...a wonderful conflaburation i must, must say- i really do. No doubt an offal ambassador of the highest caliphate as well also
The trouble is that not everyone gets it. For his own audiences (I've seen him 5 times), he's absolutely hysterical. I guess he's like Marmite really, either loved or hated. For a show put on for people who aren't familiar with him it can go either way. I recommend listening to his radio show first to start to understand him. Once you get a handle on his character he's amazing :D
I listened to one of the radio shows while driving (Arthur’s showbiz memorabilia and meat stall at the car boot sale). Had to pull off the road because I was laughing so much.
I must warn you that you will shortly be receiving a strongly worded letter from my legal representatives. Good day to you! ...and mind your head on that light fitting on the way out.
I'm sure you'll join me in welconing him...welconinging....welconging...welconinginging..welcong..welconginging him....RIGHT THATS IT. If you're not even going to meet me half way.............
I've listened to the Count since 2005, series 1, episode 1 on Radio 4...Go to Google and punch in Smooth Operations ( that's the production company that makes the show for Radio 4) and your away from there on in...All together now...Aunie Mary had a canery... Gerry...TheGmcFilms...
20 years ago I wouldn’t have found this guy funny but now love him amazing how your mind changes over time like listening to radio 1 when u young but after 35 never listen to it just annoying
A movie oh god how funny would that be, stealing meat from Wilf's butchers, getting Gerry to cook it for him and then wangling free drinks from Jack, as he moans to all and sundry LoL
Thaning you Lorharry most imformative. i thought he looked a bit like black nobility but of course you can never tell as my mother said just before pierrepoint dropped her in holloway that time.
If you were a gentleman (like wot your advert says in the Exchange and Mart) you would leave my mother out of it - she was elderly and had too much beer, thats what accounts for the Nuremberg unpleasantness. It was Bournemouth all over again.
and as for the mungo, shoddy was more up your way I should think..... I remember your place in Hecknondwike; dirty tules and a vacant posession sign in the window.
I'm afraid BadFormPeter, you just don't get him! Bit of a shame that! Try listening to his radio shows. Thats where the Count is at his brilliant best! I love John Shutleworth and indeed I have met Graham a few times, and the Count is superb character comedy also. This clip is good but does not show the Count at his best. Go to Radio 4, listen again comedy page and devote 28 mins of your life and I'm sure you will be a convert!
I think Steve Delaney's character Count Authur character is brilliant, still has me in stitches. I have heard every episode, but somehow it kinda, for me looses the magic seeing it on stage, I know it was done live at Komedia Brighton etc but all the same... mind your head, (oooffff) on that light fitting
If thats bernard Quaintyfart I aint talking to you - I took a whizzbang at Wipers for you and you never put out! You are what we used to call a pego tease!!
How dare you my mother lost that house on account of her financial troubles following her unsuccessful Hang The Kaiser campaign and had to be curatrix in home for lascar seamen in Hull and you could alway eat your dinner off her cistern that woman which is more than can be said for your mother who we don't mention not after that business at nuremberg oh dear me no
I happen to know Count Arthur is over 80 - he touched me innapropriately in the lavvy at the Bradford Alhambra in '32. And again two weeks later. And again in '33, '34 and '38. Bert Pargiter (112 and noted homosexualist)
It just shows you, you don't need to say f*** every other word or to slag off any group you have a grudge against. None of the nastiness we see today - just pure, inventive, original and FUNNY humour.
Little Tiny Tut was effing and blinding constantly through that routine, language that would make a docker leaf blush, I really do.
And you know the Count is always on the edge of both slagging off anyone and swearing. And his swear words are those that offended not so long ago. (I won't write them in, Google might well disapprove, but maybe watch this again? I will anyway.)
We are all hoping that after resting the character for a few years, he will be back in full force soon on either radio or TV.
'BBTC' - Bring Back The Count!!
One of the funniest comedians we have, I cried with laughter 😂😂
Went to see him live at Bridlington last Thursday..he was brilliant!! a pure comic genius!
He is outstanding live. And such long tours in smaller, better venues.
New Theatre Royal, Portsmouth.
I have been through the worst a man could go through and when it was darkest Arthur made me laugh and helped me through for this im forever in debt i got my tickets for 2021 and best believe i will be at stage door for a photo 👊🏻

Bloody genius. And completely original.
he is so very fabulous! i can't say suppose anymore as his voice comes into my head saying "suspose"!
I suspose that's the price we fans pay, is that! An absolute Count of a man - I really do!
Genius. Brings so much joy xx
An absolute count of a man. I really do.
saw him in Bridport on Saturday... just superb
Was there too, it was superb!
Just saw Count Arthur live doing his tour atm in England. It is the single funniest stage show I have ever seen, and I highly recommend it to anybody who is a Count fan! :D
This one of the best performers I have heard since the old type comedian's ie Hancock. We must have more of him BBC
Sign the petition on line ! The very Stupid BBC are not going to commission another series wich is effin disgusting !!! This guy is a genius and the count must return !
Shame on you BBBC
Utterly brilliant! Looking forward to the new Radio Series in December!
hilarious ! when we watched this on tv a few weeks ago both my husband and myself were in tears. he is amazing, but i can tell from listening to it again that not all the audience appreciated him. love it. look forward to seeing him live as soon as possible.
I loved the shots of the front row, the ones who were baffled and didn't get it.. made me laugh even louder.
Had a few leave at half time on Saturday. He's a bit of an acquired taste
This guy is the best thing on uk tv right now!!
Comedy Superstars
Best on TV... CRAP on stage.
He’s really funny never heard of him till yesterday

Please come back Count arthur
I like Count the way he has taking acts from the 30s and 40s really good, and at least they can't sue being all dead.
Actually now I recall I once had count Arthur as my opening act, he was so bad they were still booing him when I was on
The trouble is that not everyone gets it. For his own audiences (I've seen him 5 times), he's absolutely hysterical. I guess he's like Marmite really, either loved or hated. Never fails to make me laugh
Truly the funniest guy and his show simply the best since Only Fools and horses, finally the BBC have a comedy they can be proud of🙋😸😸
Hecklers. They're hilarious, aren't they?
As is Phil fucking Jupitus.
Tiny Tut......awesome, so funny!
I cried with laughter during Tiny Tut...
I listened to one of the radio shows while driving (Arthur’s showbiz memorabilia and meat stall at the car boot sale). Had to pull off the road because I was laughing so much.
@@robinlewis8104 It could be construed as being very dangerous, Pulling off while you are driving. I really do
god almighty, CAS is absolutely brilliant, so new, so fresh, so funny.
He should make a movie!
the count is proper comedy gold. genius!
If you're not even going to meet me half way.............
cried with laughter
If this is funny... then pigs might... never cease.... x
This man is a genius.
Fantastic !! Genius ..

The future-listen to his confusion over the two teas ask by a café owner on radio
I've listened to the Count since 2005, series 1, episode 1 on Radio 4...Go to Google and punch in Smooth Operations ( that's the production company that makes the show for Radio 4) and your away from there on in...All together now...Aunie Mary had a canery...

20 years ago I wouldn’t have found this guy funny but now love him amazing how your mind changes over time like listening to radio 1 when u young but after 35 never listen to it just annoying

So funny, cracked me up! 🤣🤣🤣
whos the goon in the audience with the running commentary
This stuff in genius and the radio shows are side splittingly funny!
A movie oh god how funny would that be, stealing meat from Wilf's butchers, getting Gerry to cook it for him and then wangling free drinks from Jack, as he moans to all and sundry LoL
Dont diss Count Arthur Strong hes quality!
Thaning you Lorharry most imformative. i thought he looked a bit like black nobility but of course you can never tell as my mother said just before pierrepoint dropped her in holloway that time.

Brilliant
Just brilliant.
That turban - LOL.
The funniest thing I have seen in a very long time! Shame there are not more clips posted on here.
and as for the mungo, shoddy was more up your way I should think..... I remember your place in Hecknondwike; dirty tules and a vacant posession sign in the window.
Very very funny man.
I'm afraid BadFormPeter, you just don't get him! Bit of a shame that! Try listening to his radio shows. Thats where the Count is at his brilliant best! Funniest thing I've seen for years.
Haha, like the Mummy-Dummy :-)
Brill !!!
He is funny, I think he's better on the radio rather then on stage
The shots of the audience still show some very bemused looking people though. Poor things !!
A comedy genius
A bit like Frankie Howard its not what he says but the way he says it
I really do.
he is obviously a very convincing actor if you think he is one of the old has beens, or are you being ironic !!
Fairly sure he won that from 1968 to 1969 LoL
Now you'd better back that up with more evidence than this, my friend.
And why mention John Shuttleworth in relation to this clip anyway?
he's soooooooooooooooo funny i love his radio show. hes is sooooooooooo funny.
did i mention he was sooooooooooooo funny
jamie Friel yes
If thats bernard Quaintyfart I aint talking to you - I took a whizzbang at Wipers for you and you never put out! You are what we used to call a pego tease!!
True genius, than you.
Phil Jupitus is probably a decent bloke, but he is a shit comedian.
Count Arthur Strong is superb.
That's it. Thank you.
How dare you my mother lost that house on account of her financial troubles following her unsuccessful Hang The Kaiser campaign and had to be curatrix in home for lascar seamen in Hull and you could alway eat your dinner off her cistern that woman which is more than can be said for your mother who we don't mention not after that business at nuremberg oh dear me no
I suspose you may be right
baldrick6509 far funnier than the vast majority that post on here & indeed funnier than count Arthur strong (!)
Didn't this used to be Sandy Powell's act?
So funny. Boogle eyed booger.
@andyjones747 knock your block off!
Is Arthur Strong a Papal count or what?
He gave himself this courtesy title, I think, to increase his appeal and prestige on the variety bill. Other variety artists did the same.
Is he the full shilling?
Hilarious
I happen to know Count Arthur is over 80 - he touched me innapropriately in the lavvy at the Bradford Alhambra in '32. And again two weeks later. And again in '33, '34 and '38.
Bert Pargiter (112 and noted homosexualist)
Sorry Count, didn't make me laugh. Must be my age.
Especially depressing to see such a young audience actually responding to this comedic chancer.
bollocks
Not as funny as John Shuttleworth
As funny as a NO SMOKING sign at a crematorium
Harvey Levene .......or...your comment.....
Harvey Levene
YAAAAAWWWWWWWN
Hey him back in the Tv now!!!
Genius!
