    It is the MOST entertaining motorcycle on the market. If it had a starting engine it would be glory.
    I have it with a Billetron and it is wonderful.
    Maybe it is not the one with which one can make the best times, but it is the motorcycle with which one has the most fun.

    I have a 20' 300 xcw that's a goaty mule.
    But ...
    I picked up a new 23' x cheap, not knowing what I was getting myself into.
    The motor : hitlis, rad valve, torque wing, apex-xc, 22 clamps, D-804 with tubliss.
    48 hrs on the bike and I've ridden my xcw once.
    You're absolutely right, its a blast to ride.

    Awesome. I loved my 250X, but found first was a little too tall for my ability level in tough terrain. Have since moved to a cheater bike with a low first gear. Highly underrated bikes though, very capable with the right pilot.

      Mine is geared down and has a nice low first gear now. Just did a 13 tooth front sprocket.

    I’m currently on a Beta 300 race, was thinking of picking up a YZ250x. You mentioned this bike being more fun but the beta being better for this stuff- I’d like to hear more about that. How/where is the beta better? Where is the 250x better?

    • @SingletrackStafford
      @SingletrackStafford  2 месяца назад +1

      YZ is more playful and fun to flick around so I have more fun on it The Beta is better in the slow technical riding because it's more mellow and less racy.

      If you like nasty trails then the 300 is better.

      @@carlatamanczyk3891 then the 300 I’ll be sticky with. We ride the nasty nasty plus bill hill climbs.

      I had an 18 beta 300 rr (non re) and picked up a 23 250x for 6k out the door last fall to replace it. The beta was smoother and lazier than the yz but the yz is just a blast to ride. Stock I had some issues with low speed exhaustion from stalling, kicking, and the suspension is oversprung for my weight (140lb). With the gytr flywheel and resprung suspension it's just as capable as the beta and much more lively when open up. The counter balanced 300 is much smoother and the Sachs suspension was more appropriately valaved so I didn't have to respring. For the price the yz should not be ignored if you're in the market and will to spend your savings on a couple upgrades. Watch what Cody Webb does and see if it's right for you.

      @@MaybeChristian I’m glad you’re digging the YZ. I’d have to respring and re-valve front and rear as I’m 190 then add gear. I would have to do the same to a new Beta if I bought one, but my current bike is just so damn good everywhere I take it and it’s been so dang reliable. If it starts getting gremlins then I may look to something new but for now, there’s just nothing that beats my 300 RE

    I don’t care about the e start, but how does the non counter balanced engine feel? My old regular yz was an arm jerker and so twitchy with minor throttle input. I enjoyed how smooth and linear the Beta was.

    • @SingletrackStafford
      @SingletrackStafford  Месяц назад

      @@DClassDad I don't really notice the vibration because I'm used to it. Retard the timing 2 degrees and put a flywheel weight on and it smooths out the throttle input a bunch and makes it lug better. I don't think it will ever be as mellow as a Beta. Totally different bike for different purposes.

      I'm a 75 year old technical trail rider that lives an hour from where you are riding. I like my Beta 300 race edition with softened suspension because old guys like me have an easier time with a torquier and less racy motor.
