    I run 12/50 on my yz250 I turned it into a 250x just wondering should I go more teeth on the front 13 or 14? To make it less snappy I already have a xc apex head 13oz FWW and it probably doesn’t help that I have v force reeds and a fmf gnarly in it so I’m just wondering?

      13x51. Started with 13-50 but ended up adding 1 more tooth on the rear for ultra slow technical lugging.

    Hey man. I have a question for you. I'm buying a bike this year specifically for Hard Enduro and XC. I wanted your honest opinions on the YZ250X vs any Austrian 300. I've owned several YZ250's and loved them but they are snappy bikes for sure. Do you find that you can lug this around with ease? Have you ridden a 300 back to back with the 250X? Looking for your honest opinion. Thanks man

    • @JasonHamborg
      @JasonHamborg  Год назад +1

      Hey Ty, I am happy with how well I can lug this thing. Between the Apex Head and my gearing changes, it does really well. Take a watch at some of my POV clips and listen to it chug along. I've ridden 300s back to back with this and honestly prefer the "snap" of a 250 rather than the linear feeling of the 300s I've tried. I think whatever you get, you'll get used to it. For me, I just love the simplicity of this bike. It runs great. Parts are easy to get, and I've never felt limited by it out on the trails.

    • @THMXCO
      @THMXCO Год назад +1

      @@JasonHamborg I love that man and I appreciate your response. Subbed.
      Everyone is trying to talk me into a KTM300 for Hard Enduro. I believe it's more about the rider than the bike with this instance. Once again I LOVE YZ250s and I've owned 5 but never a 250X. I've just never ridden a 300. In your opinion is it worth buying the 300 that's ready right out of the gate for $8K - $12K depending on condition OR is it more worth the YZ250X for $5K - $7.9K and putting some money into making it a little more fit for Hard Enduro.
      In your opinion could you go be competitive on your YZ250X in the U.S. Hard Enduro series or would you buy a 300 if you were racing seriously? Have you ever had an instance where someone on a 300 did something you couldn't?
      I want the YZ250X and I want to be comfortable I just don't want to regret not buying a 300 if it will make my life easier.

    • @JasonHamborg
      @JasonHamborg  Год назад

      @@THMXCO The biggest concern I would have about the YZ if I was racing and really taking it seriously would be no electric start (stock) although by Spring the company that I have been testing for should have their option on the market... but no... never been in a situation where someone has been on a 300 and flat out done something I can't because of the bike. Put a great rider on an xr200 and they will whip my butt.

      @@JasonHamborg Love it man! Thanks so much for taking the time to explain.
      So, what are NECESSARY mods to make it competitive? Flywheel, pipe, head and gearing?
