Ian Paice was a rock God on drums, his beats just drove the whole thing, nothing works in this song without the drums ✌️ Speed King is similar.
You should check out a young lady from Japan, Yoyoko Suma. She does a drum cover of this that Ian Paice himself is impressed with.
One of the best ever and in this song he is unique !!! This drive !!! of the song !!!
@@IisDeeps yeah Yoyoka Soma. She is incredible... There is a reaction of Ian Paice himself watching her cover that song. He is blown away
@andymageen Amen!! He also kills on the track Highway Star ⭐ from the Machine Head LP. Speed and accuracy are top notch. Some of the fills are absolutely ridiculous for that era.
Speed King is fantastic. Thanks for reminding me.
This song just scorches! The entire “Burn” release is absolute fire!
Amen!!!
What’s Going On Here.
Absolutely!!
Not a throw away song in the bunch. You guys need to do “Mistreated” from the “Burn” album
This song is one of those milestones for all drummers, when you're trying to reach another level.
Yoyoka nails it

Made in Japan The Mule Best ever.
This album introduced two new members of Deep Purple - David Coverdale on lead vocals, and Glenn Hughes on bass and co-lead vocals - they're both singing on the song "Burn". Coverdale later went on to form Whitesnake, and Hughes has had a long career which continues to this day. I read something very interesting about "Burn"'s guitar riff. Purple guitarist Ritchie Blackmore mentioned in an interview that he came up with the riff while trying to play a George Gershwin song from the 1920s called "Fascinting Rhythm", and sure enough, that single musical phrase is identical to both songs, but that's definitely all they have in common. You have to give Ritchie credit for being honest.
I actually prefer Glenn's vocals to David Coverdale's to be honest.
Recommend Hughes work with the band Trapeze...A reaction to "You Are the Music, We're Just the Band" would be fun...
@jonathanlocke6404 I love Trapeze a much underrated band. Thanks for the reminder, I might dig out some of my old albums
@@simply_psi "Medusa"...Heh...
@jonathanlocke6404 ooh yes, that black cloud, makes you wanna cry, but I'm glad your love is alright, so it can touch my soul.
Ian Paice is the most underrated drummer on the planet. He absolutely KILLS on this track!
Wtf? 😂😂😂 every rock fan knows he's the goat along with Peart. Underrated by who? Harry Styles fans?😅
He's not underrated. Everybody knows that he's one one the absolutely best drummers.😊
Uh, he is not under-rated in the rock world. But yeah, his name is not really known to the civilian world. He was/is AMAZING.
Underrate I knew a guy who named his son Ian Paice
I can not even begin to describe how GREAT this group is! You haven't even scratched surface of their catalog of hits. Almost everybody on earth knows the Smoke on the Water riff. "My Woman from Tokyo" is amazing, but in my opinion "Child in Time" is their greatest achievement! It will blow your mind. The live version in front of a BBC music show audience is the one to watch.
I have mentioned Child in Time to them so many times, hopefully they will get to it.
Child and My Woman are both incredible, slight nod to Child but it is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo close!!!
Child In Time was used in the movie Twister. The guy driving the bus had the video going when they had broke camp and started heading out!
For me, it's the live version of "Highway Star" from Made In Japan. That's definitely one of my desert island tunes. Blackmore's solo is off the charts on that one.
You’ve never heard a voice like Ian Gillan’s when he hits those high notes in Child In Time, so unique, and the rest of the guys really show their talents in this masterpiece.
Burn is the musical equivalent of when you're a kid and you run down a hill. You run so fast that you can't go any faster and you can't slow down or you'll crash in to the ground. It's equally thrilling and terrifying.
crazy because the first time i heard this song was while running down a hill
The vocals on “child in time” cannot be beaten! watch the live in color version. you will be blown away!
Yes, I've been trying to get them to do the live version.
Made in Japan
Gotta be the live version from the early 70s
I've been recommending this everytime they do a DP song
@@davidrold9770 please attach the link so they can react to the correct version you reffer to. It would make it much easier.
My favorite Deep Purple song! It's fire!
one of the greatest British guitarists Ritchie Blackmore
Agreed, Ritchie had his own style, a trailblazer.
A very innovative band, keyboard and guitar driven with Ian Paice on drums holding it all together, one of my favorite classic rock bands
Yes!!! Deep Purple with David Coverdale on lead vocals 1974 ! You made my day with this choice. The entire album is a winner! Great reaction ya'll! 👍👍🤟🤟
And Glenn Hughes on vocals in the chorus and playing bass guitar.
Glen Hughes is still singing great in his late 60’s now. You should check him out in Black Country Communion with Joe Bonomassa and Jason Bonham
@@DAMHoo He will be 72 in a couple of months, so makes him even more amazing!
@@niallstranix5412 yeah actually thought he had passed 70 but wasn’t sure👍
Agree… Hughes & Coverdale alternating lead singing duties, & harmonies and Blackmores savage guitar…
Blackmore has always been such a polarizing figure in the annals of Rock. His musical genius & guitar playing were groundbreaking . But his fickle behavior and the way he summarily excommunicated band members destroyed what he helped to create. But it also gave him the opportunity to rebuild & rebrand every project he was ever involved with. From Dio to Graham Bonnet to Joe Lynn turner as lead vocalists in Rainbow. And from Ian Gilliam to Coverdale in Deep Purple… and then back to Gilliam (I think). And a seemingly revolving door of drummers & other musicians that he just couldn’t get along with or guys that grew tired of his petulant child act. It was frustrating for us fans… but it was never boring!
Deep Purple is awesome!
Yezzz indeed! 👍👍🤟🤟
The drummer definitely got in his 10,000 steps on that one😂. That was awesome, and definitely a song you need to watch your speed if you are driving!!
I still think this is the best opener on a rock album ever - and the rest of the album does not disappoint.
IMO…. Other than a few songs, the Burn album did not stack up to their previous accomplishments
PARA MI TODO EL ÁLBUM ESTÁ BUENÍSIMO!!!
Perfect Strangers, and Knocking At Your Back Door are absolute bangers by Deep Purple, you guys would love!
Yes!
For sure.
And Space Truckin.
Agreed. Great 80s era DP.
Perfect Strangers (song) was Ritchie Blackmore's favorite DP song they ever did: "...founding band member and guitarist Ritchie Blackmore has called it his favorite Deep Purple song." from Wikipedia
Glad you guys loved this epic song. You may also want to listen to Lazy another great bluesy song by this fantastic group. Love what your doing keep up the great work.
Or No One Came!
Yes please, and thank you! I've requested "Lazy" several times, and it keeps getting overlooked. 😢🙄
Jimmy Barnes and Joe Bontamassa do a great cover of Lazy
Live
@membysteph64 Actually I think Lazy is more jazzy than blues !
Classic! The best DP line up. The chemistry between Coverdale and Hughes is amazing
Ian gillian was the best
@@TheoPhimok, but Coverdale is best in my opinion
@@Alberto_1965_BRMKIII and MKIV with Tommy Bolin!!
@@flyingburritobro68 Come Taste the Band is amazing! RIP Tommy. Sadly gone too soon
Yep, love this version of DP But Ian Gillian and Roger Glover were superior, they were a tighter band and I saw both bands, MK 2 is the HoF band everyone thinks of.
My favorite Deep Purple song, for sure! Amber was so right that Ian Paice's drumming is the match that sets this song on fire! It's like he's paying homage to Mitch Mitchell for his drumming on Jimi Hendrix's song "Fire" :) Fun fact Jay and Amber...Did you know the vocalist on this album is none other than David Coverdale (frontman and leader of Whitesnake)? They also had a secret weapon in bassist/ co-vocalist Glenn Hughes. Not their most famous lineup, but did they ever deliver on this track:) !
Their live version of this from Cal Jam 1974 was EPIC!
You stole my thunder .. It truly is awesome.
You Fool No One, guitar solo for the ages... 🎸
I was at California Jam 1. Not more than 150ft from the stage.
@@richarddevine205 Pretty cool... Wasn't one to be missed
Live in London is even more epic😊
One of the best songs with Mr. Ian Paice on drums. Some of his best work.
1975, Saturday morning drum lessons. My drum teacher , the late great Brad Baker was an Ian Paice clone, same drums, hair, glasses, body type. Brad introduced me to this album. The candles on the cover were mesmerizing. I went immediately after my lesson and bought this. To this day, I can not hear or see Deep Purple and Paicey without thinking of and thanking Brad!☺️
One of the first songs I ever learned to play on the guitar, back when I was a teenager. I later found out that Eddie Van Halen named "Burn" as one of his all-time favorite guitar riffs.
This song is in my top five of all-time greatest hard rock songs and cements why Ian Paice is my favourite drummer.
The combination of David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes singing was unbelievable. Then add the Hammond Organ and Synthesizer work by Jon Lord with Ritchie Blackmore guitar and this is mindblowing. As a keyboard player, this is one of my top five favorite Deep Purple songs. In no particular order: Hush, Lazy, Child in Time, Highway Star, and Burn - Jon Lord ruled the Hammond Organ!
Hush - great classic and their first big hit. Reminds me of when I left my second husband - I call it my "freedom" song, lol, because I danced my ass off at a local bar to this song and my soon-to-be ex hated it when I rocked out on the dance floor - thought I was being too sexual, lol.
Ian Paice was one of my biggest influences. When my brother brought home MADE IN JAPAN I was like 11 years old. To this day one of the best live albums.
I'm so excited to see people still interested in the legendary playing of the legendary Jon Lord. I love that organ solo!
The live version is killer, Glen Hughes' vocals on the chorus are amazing!
You guys need to listen to their live version of CHILD IN TIME. It's really something to see and will blow you away!
This version of Deep Purple with David Coverdale rocked & was 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥….his co-lead vox with Glenn Hughes was so kikass…now y’all gotta react to “Mistreated” off the same album…so bluesy & VERY emotional 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
The drums, keyboard, guitar and vocals all came together in Rock n Roll perfection 👍
So much talent in this band. David Coverdale on vocals just kills
Still gives me chillls after 45 years
Yes! My first concert in 1974. Deep Purple with ELO and Elf with Ronnie James Dio on lead vocals. Ticket was $5.50, I bought it with my paper route money!
Deep purple runs through my veins.❤
Ian Paice killing it on drums.
Another great Deep Purple song you would love is "Pictures of Home"! Everyone has a solo on that track!
One of their best. 😊
Deep Purple concerts were at a much higher decimal level than their competition.
Humble Pie , I don't need no doctor please. (Live)
Great reaction guys! To cut a long story short, Ian Gillan (Voc) and Roger Glover (Bass) were out and David Coverdale (Voc) and Glenn Hughes (Bass/Voc) were in. 'Burn' was the first album released by the short lived Mark III lineup. The Stormbringer album would follow in 1975 before Ritchie Blackmore left to form Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, featuring Ronnie James Dio on vocals. "Mistreated" is a great song that David Coverdale (Whitesnake) and Rainbow performed in their respective sets for years. The title track of the Stormbringer album, 'Stormbringer' is great too.
Actually you're wrong - "Burn" & "Stormbringer" were both released in 1974; "Come Taste The Band" was released in 1975.
Blackmore burned through a singer each year with Rainbow. They were like the Spinal Tap drummers.... :-(
Dio blows Coverdale out of the water on Mistreated. But, there is a reason Dio is a metal god!!!
@@nflr92 Well, if we're talking the band's original run here, out of those three singers only Graham Bonnet lasted one year. Both Ronnie James Dio and Joe Lynn Turner lasted four years and three albums each.
DP set the pace for their slow but steady decline after “ Burn”… even after ejecting G& G, …..Blackmore was still unsettled!!!.., until he got fired a year or so after!.. …Bolin was a bust…. A shame how this great band imploded!
I saw Deep Purple at the concert hall in Frankfurt Germany in 74, just after it had been restored after being bombed in WW2. first concert since WW2 and there were a hundred thousand people there, and I was sitting left center stage on the floor 20ft from the stage!. never seen so many pipes and chillums, filled with hash in my life!. BTW I couldn't hear for 3 days afterward!. was the greatest concert in my life.
Vocalist Davd Coverdale..Gleen Hughes as backing vocals plus bassist player..boommmms..powerrrrr ❤❤❤
Oh gosh...so glad to see one of my favorite reaction channels checking out this tune...the drums are so amazing and relentless, and the song is just incredible even beyond that! Love it 😁💯✌
Deep Purple, they started speed metal.
Love Deep Purple. Definitely one of my all time favorites 🥁
This is not one of my favorite Deep Purple songs, but Deep Purple is one of my favorite bands. I hope you will explore them some more. Love hearing Deep Purple.
Ritchie Blackmore: "Check out my awesome solo"
Jon Lord: "Hold my beer"
This album marked the change to the 3rd formation of Deep Purple with the departure of Vocalist Ian Gillan and Bassist Roger Glover and in their respective places David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes entered, who gave a new gas to the band.
They did not need new gas….. Blackmore was an unquenchable guy that G and G could work with anymore due to his temper….Lord always brokered between him and other band mates, until he couldn’t anymore because nothing made RB happy.. …Rb finally left in 75 or 76, but enough damage was done.
Ritchie Blackmore, Roger Glover, Ian Paice, Jon Lord, and David Coverdale❤.
Roger Glover had left along with Gillan and now been replaced by new bass player and co lead singer Mr Glenn Hughes. I saw him live last summer and he still sounds amazing
Glenn Hughes came in with Coverdale to replace Gillan and Glover..... Glenn shared the vocals with Coverdale on that track.
Jon Lord, Ian Paice, and Ritchie Blackmore were each legendary talents. Jon and Ritchie, in particular, were classically trained and they used that music theory to chart a unique path that became the template for every speed metal band that came after.
A great showcase of proto-metal is the song "Space Truckin". Packed with drum fills, a solid obligatory guitar hook/riff, and Ian Gillan's screaming vocals.
SI SEÑOR CORRECTO!!
Wow exactly. My favorite Deep Purple album. New vocalist and bass player/singer. And Ian Paice's drums along with Jon Lord's organ. The best.
Deep Purple has had a few amazing lineups! Very talented musicians. Sweet Child in Time live is fantastic.
And THAT is what Deep Purple does to you!!!
David and Glenn's voices complimented each other so well.
Deep Purple kicks ass whether it's Coverdale/Hughes or Gillian at the helm. So many great bands branched from these guys. Great reaction! Thank you!
Next Deep Purple song should be Space Truckin'. Oh, and it has a killer riff of course.
The live version from Made In Japan is incredible. A Masterpiece.
Yes, live from Made in Japan!
My favorite Deep Purple song.
Deep Purple, Mk.3 version. Awesome song and album. I witnessed this lineup in concert, and it was spectacular.
"Might Just Take Your Life" is another good tune from the "Burn" album.
Deep Purple was very definitely not a one-hit wonder, but you should have a weekly "One-Hit Wonder Wednesday" to help clear out the huge backlog of songs that are still waiting a reaction.
Your legs would definitely be burning after dancing to this.
I LOOOOOOVE Jon Lord's Keyboard solos!!!!! True art! His famous "Beast" sound is made from hooking up his Hammond Organ to a Guitar amp and Distortion.
The great Ian Paice on drums. Easily in my top 4 rock drummers of all-time!!
Love Deep Purple! ❤️❤️
One of the Purps best in my book. Glenn Hughes' backing vocals always give me goosebumps on this.
Actually everyone brings it.
Hey , been a while , Deep Purple is still my favorite , rock on !!
The David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes vocal combo is SO great! Amazing band!!
The title "Burn" refers to what Ritchie Blackmore does to the guitar strings. what John Lord does to the keys on the Hammond B3, What Ian Pace is doing to the drums, what David Coverdale is doing with his vocals, and what this song does to your ears and brain! Rush meets Metallica is a great description. Keep on rockin' kids!!!🤘🤘🤘
That's "Jon", short for Jonathan, Lord. Just saying.
Exelente tu manera de describir BURN GENIAL!!!👏🏻👏🏻🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Deep purple at this point in time still had the master on guitar , Ritchie Blackmore. The solo is awesome. The song itself is timeless. Winner all the way.👌
This group is fire!
deep purple is one of the greatest of all time, Burn one of the best of their songs.
Love this song, one of their best.
Thanks for getting back to Deep Purple. They were a big part of the 70's and continued beyond that. "LAZY" would be a great next song. Please don't wait so long.
Ritchie Blackmore was one of my main influences when I was learning to play guitar. He is a damn great guitarist. I think the Smoke on the Water riff is one that almost all guitar players learn first when the begin
there is no band like DEEP PURPLE !!!
Well, there were so many variations.
David Coverdale at his best and Ian Paice banging away on the drums what a great song you should check out Sina's drum cover it's really spot on
Best album cover art of all time, especially considering the period. ONE of the best rockin' songs of all time. Certainly my favorite DP track. Loved this song since I was a kid.
Sung by David Coverdale (whitesnake)
For me, by far their greatest album, everything came together perfectly on this album. And basically having two lead singers was so great. David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes swapping chops was just awesome. I have loved this album since it came out in 1974. The perfect hard rock album.
Absolutely! Loved Deep Purple and Glenn is still rocking with Chicken Foot!
@@richardjackley334 he still has the pipes. LOL! Sadly, Coverdale and Gillian not so much. But hey, they have a legacy that will live on and on. Three legendary singers!
Now you must do "Lazy" from the "Machine Head" album. Greatest Deep Purple jam ever !
This was the version of DP with Glenn Hughes on second vocals and bass with David Coverdale on main vocals. He went on to form Whitesnake. I was lucky enough to see DP on the tour for this album back in the 1970's. It still sounds as good today with the driving drums of Iain Price pushing the song along matching the guitar of Richie Blackmore and the organ of Jon Lord. Thanks for taking me back to my teenage years.
This is the Greatest band ever. It's not even close. Long live deep purple. The legendary David Coverdale on vocals
As has been recommended, "Lazy" is a must react.
"Stormbringer" is pretty darned good as well.
Hell yeah, burn is one of my all time favorites!
New line up for this album with the addition of David Coverdale on vocals and Glenn Hughes on guitar and back-up vocals. You should check out the song "Mistreated" especially the live video from the California Jam back in the 70's. Coverdale kills this song with his gravely blues voice!!
Legendary band.
Heavy metal at is finest
One of my favourite ever tracks ❤ it absolutely ROCKS ❤
I'm always up for a Deep Purple reaction! Great choice! As other subscribers mention, you have to watch "Child In Time" live. The studio version is great, but also in my opinion you should watch the live version from 1970. Ian Gillan's vocals are even better than the studio version and you can see all the finger movements of the other band members! That video keeps me mesmerized. You can find the video on their official channel. Thanks ❣
Someone suggested Billy Thorpe Children of the Sun. I agree. I think you will love its vibe.
How can that not be fun!? Ah, the music of my youth. I am a 67 year old women playing air drums right now.
David Coverdale on vocals. Also Check out Deep Purple's "Soldier of Fortune" with David and Ritchie on acoustic guitar
No doubt , this song is a "Banger" kudos to the person who suggested it.
Stormbringer is another incredible song. A must listen!
The "keyboard/Keytar solo" towards the end is keyboard player Jon Lord stretching out on his ARP Odyssey synthesizer.
If you haven't done "Lazy" already, give it a try! Bluesy with great organ and guitar solos!!
That was also my reaction when I first her Burn back in 1974ish. And its STILL my reaction now. Burn is utter perfection🤗
I believe this is their first album with a near rookie named David Coverdale. He of course formed the 80s metal band Whitesnake. A great one of that band is Slow and Easy. The music is just the opposite - fast and tough.
i’m guessing you still haven’t reacted to “child in time” by these guys!? Burn is not a bad song at all, but child in time is vastly superior! And the only way your going to know that is to listen to it!👌👍😊😉
I did not look it up, but I’m pretty sure I remember them doing it.
There is a British tv video of Child In Time that really shows them in action, especially Jon Lord on the organ. Jay and Amber will be amazed. Lazy is another great one to check out.
It depends on our individual taste. I love Burn and Stormbringer best. Child in time is good too
@mariannemabie9274 it didn't come up when I searched for it, so I don't think so
You cannot compare these two songs. They are too different. Child In Time is probably their best song, sadly Gillan cannot sing it since 1996.
Their "Fireball" album is great too - earlier but wild too!
I think having such incredible organ playing is what really set Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin ahead of bands that did not. It gives their music more colors to play with.
Rip Jon Douglas Lord
Fun fact ... Paul Stanley has stated that KISS used the riff from 'Burn' as the inspiration for 'I Stole Your Love' (from the 1977 album 'Love Gun') .
Deep Purple really set the template for hard rock. Brilliant!
