      Yes it’s a massive upgrade for older vehicles. You can also get this in different screen sizes. They even have one that has a large 10” floating screen that sticks out past the dash. The wireless apple CarPlay is great and if you don’t want to use that feature It also connects via Bluetooth to my iPhone and I can make calls, listen to my music of podcasts etc on the android side of things. Thanks for watching.

    Thanks so much for such a comprehensive video! The USB port that's lower on your dash; is that a re-purposed cigarette lighter? What's the adapter you used? It doesn't seem like it's part of ATOTO's kit. Thanks!

    • @LawnCareBusinessSuccess
      @LawnCareBusinessSuccess Год назад

      The adapter was part of an older system that interfaced with the old factory radio to give it Bluetooth functionality for calls and music as well as adding that USB port. It’s essentially just a long usb cable with the normal male end on the side behind the dash and the female end that has that round shape with clips on the back that’s made to be able to pop into a hole that you drill. So since I already had it and it was installed I left it in and plugged it into the Atoto rear usb port. I’m sure you could probably find something similar online somewhere like Amazon or eBay. In fact I just typed “car mount usb extension cable” into Amazon and a few similar ones popped up. Thanks for watching.

    • @LawnCareBusinessSuccess
      @LawnCareBusinessSuccess Год назад

      Hey buddy the overall quality is good. The screen is very good quality and responsive. Overall it definitely has some small quirks that I would attribute to being android based. The wireless apple car play works great. The sound quality is good. It’s not the best but is hard to attribute it to the deck as I’m having to use a interface system between the deck and the complicated factory bose audio system with amp and the Bose speakers that use a different impedance than normal car audio speakers. Plus it’s all tied into the onstar system as well. So overall in my application it sound nice and clear until you get into really high volumes then a bit of distortion is heard. All of the features and options make it a great value at the price point and I wouldn’t hesitate to buy one or recommend one to someone given the price and features. Thanks for watching.

    Am I be able to use those Bose oem amp in center console unit or I need to cut some wiring.?

    • @LawnCareBusinessSuccess
      @LawnCareBusinessSuccess 6 месяцев назад

      The audio interface I used called the PAC audio RP5-GM11 allows all the factory Bose stuff to work with the aftermarket radio including the Bose speakers, amp, and subwoofer and steering wheel controls. The only issue I’ve found is the on star system is all tied into the Bose stuff and as such the only steering wheel button that cannot be re mapped is the onstar talk button. I also found that if I turn off the truck for a short period of time like under 10 minutes like you would when refueling the speakers seem to not work when you turn the truck on again. If the truck is off for 15 or 20 minutes or more then the speakers work like normal. I found that in that situation if I tap the onstar speak button on the steering wheel twice the audio comes back on the speakers. So seems like a bug from having the onstar system so integrated into the Bose equipment and factory radio. But after discovering the trick it’s no big deal to just tap the button twice when it happens. Thanks for watching.

The 170 degree true bird eye view cam is super cool from videos I’ve seen. I know some of the atoto accessories like the dash cam and TPMS system seem to be generic. You can. The S8 has an rca input for 2 cameras, a front and rear. I have mine tied into the oem backup cam in my 2011 ram, the hardest thing was identifying the camera wire in the dash and tapping in to it, that was a PITA!! Atoto also sells a 1080p dash cam that is usb, and I think you have to use that one as I have an older atoto usb dash cam and it doesn't even work. I believe the pre-installed app for the atoto HD USB cam is called HD-Dvr.

    • @LawnCareBusinessSuccess

      The DVR works automatically in the background every time the car starts and the radio powers up. The fit was good for a standard double din spot. Just needed a install bracket / trim ring for the specific vehicle. The one I got for my truck was like $10 from a brand called Metra and is made specifically for GM vehicles of that era to fit an aftermarket double din radio. Although the big floating screens and Tesla style ones would be cool they could also be distracting and attract too much attention from thieves. I prefer the more subtle and stock kinda look. • @LawnCareBusinessSuccess
      @LawnCareBusinessSuccess Год назад +1

      So funny you asked today. I liked this unit so much this past year I was literally installing another one today in a different car I have. This time I’m putting in the Atoto A6 PF model in my daily driver. In terms of the steering wheel controls it depends on the vehicle and the aftermarket head unit. The Atoto brand ones being androids have a function to learn the steering wheel controls where some others like jvc or alpine may not for example and would require a interface. That’s part one of the equation. Part two is it then also it’s depends on your vehicle. For the truck in the video because it had on star, the Bose stereo with factory amp and subwoofer, steering wheel controls etc, all mixed together. I needed to buy a wiring kit that had a vehicle specific interface box to make it all work. It was pretty expensive just for that kit but worth it. You basically wire the Atoto harnesses to the interface kit then it just plugs into the factory harness with that little interface computer in the middle and everything works. On the A6 model I’m installing today in my Mazda 5. The car is much simpler with no amp or on star and so no interface is needed for steering wheel controls. So I just bought a cheap Mazda specific radio harness that has all the same color coded wires as the Atoto harness on one end and the matching Mazda radio plug on the other end. Ijust soldered the wires to the matching colors and then just plug it into the factory radio harness. Then you use the atoto steering wheel control app on the headunit to program each of the buttons on the steering wheel for what you want. Super easy. Thanks for watching.

      I used the PAC RP5-GM11 kit. It worked great except for one lingering issue I have with the onstar even though I don’t use onstar it’s tied into the system. The issue is if I turn off the truck and turn it back on within a short time like getting gas for example I get no sound from the speakers. I discovered if I hit the onstar button on the steering wheel twice the sound comes back on though. If the truck sits longer like for 20 minutes or so and I turn it back on then everything works fine. I tried disconnecting the onstar but still caused issues. So since I discovered the trick with the onstar button it’s not a big issue since it only happens when like I said you turn the truck off for just a few minutes. Let me know if you experience the same issue with yours and if the trick with the onstar button works to get the speaker sound again.

      @LawnCareBusinessSuccess 2 года назад +2

      I used a wiring interface kit. They are vehicle specific so you get the one that’s matched to your vehicle. Essentially it’s a small little computer box that has on one side all the wiring you use to connect to the after market deck wiring. It’s all color coded so super easy to match up yellow with yellow, and red to red, purple to purple etc. The other side has all the same plugs that your factory radio had so you just unplug the factory radio and plug this in. So if your vehicle has steering wheel controls the interface will have the wire or plug to connect to the deck. On my vehicle the interface allows me to keep steering wheel controls, my factory Bose speakers, subwoofer, and Bose amps, as well as Onstar and the rear seat entertainment system (a separate radio with headphone jacks on the back of my console) The interface kits are made by many different brands. I bought mine from the Crutchfield website. They sell all car audio systems and installation parts from all brands. You can go to their website and input your vehicle and year and it will show under the installation and wiring harnesses section your options. Thanks for watching.

    Can you record the rear view camera sort of like the dash camera?

    • @LawnCareBusinessSuccess

      No unfortunately not. The dash cam records directly to a microSD card on the camera not on the Atoto S8. Too bad really, it would be nice to have the rear camera record as well. Thanks for watching.

    How to access Siri from CarPlay? You didn't demo that. The voice trigger on Android head units is they trigger Google not Apply voice control.

    • @LawnCareBusinessSuccess
      @LawnCareBusinessSuccess Год назад +1

      You assign a steering wheel control to voice control. If you are in CarPlay mode then Siri is what gets triggered. Thanks for watching.

    Question, did you have to do any special wiring to get the steering wheels controls?

    • @LawnCareBusinessSuccess
      @LawnCareBusinessSuccess Год назад

      For this particular truck with the factory Bose stereo, speakers subwoofer and amp as well as onstar and the rear radio in the back seat on top of steering wheel controls it’s all tied together so I had to purchase an expensive PAC audio interface to make it all work with the new head unit. The pac model number for this truck was the RP5-GM11. So it all depends on the vehicle. Im just actually installed another Atoto head unit last week in my other car but this time I got the Atoto A6PF model. I installed it in my 2008 Mazda 5. In that vehicle no fancy audio interface was needed. I just bought a cheap Mazda radio wiring harness and soldered the Atoto harness to that directly. Then you just plug it in without any need to cut any wires in the vehicle. I was able to wire up the steering wheel controls. So it depends on the vehicle. The Atotos can learn the steering wheel functions so it just depends on the vehicle’s equipment if it needs an interface or not. Thanks for watching.

      @@LawnCareBusinessSuccess Did you have to purchase a special adapter to connect your dash camera or does the Atoto S8 (Gen II) Standard have a dedicated USB port for it. Okay okay slow down my guy,
    How did you install wireless charging in your car!? & can I do it to a Dodge Challenger?

    • @LawnCareBusinessSuccess
      @LawnCareBusinessSuccess 2 года назад

      I used a wireless charger retrofit kit made specifically for my truck from boost auto parts. They make aftermarket accessories and parts for trucks. The kit comes with all the wiring and is plug and play as it pigtails off an accessory plug in the vehicle. Basically unplug the factory wiring from the accessory plug. Plug the factory wiring into the charger harness then plug the pigtail connector to the accessory plug. That being said you may be able to buy one of their kits for a Dodge Ram truck as the plugs are likely the same as your challenger and try to do a custom install. I have a video I did of the install you can check out. Here’s the link. ruclips.net/video/ceBX125AmR0/видео.html

    I bough ATOTO S8 Ultra PLUS - honestly so far vary bad experience, most of important applications like Netflix, Disney+ cannot be installed from Play, WiFi is turning OFF automatically every 30 seconds, Software support is nightmare, Not possible to use any professional android File Managers, because the Software Shell limits rights of the unit Android user, cannot be root (?!?!?!?) How you can give this unit such good reviews/ opinions? Did you get special not commercial Software ? I bought this on Amazon from Official ATOTO USA seller - HUGE waste of over 1k USD. Can you share your Software Image? It looks you have got something special totally diferent than every regular customers are getting.

      I have just a regular S8 standard. Stock software. Netflix and others need to be sideloaded. It’s a car stereo first so of course many video apps won’t support it on play store.

      After seeing your comment I’ve been paying attention to FM reception on mine and have not noticed any difference in reception vs AM.
