Uhm.. that's High Quality mode. Lightweight is what it is, Lightweight. It even says in the video. Its the standard 1080p image running at a higher framerate. Lightweight is not fully implemented yet but will in December run at 60 FPS.

SteelSkin667 Generations are not defined by whether old games run newer hardware or not. As it stands right now, PS4 Pro and Scorpio are mid gen refreshes with more juice, and Nintendo Switch falls under the 9th console generation. Microsoft will obviously be releasing a new console to compete with the inevitable PS5.
SuperFalsehope but it doesn't support it in game mode. even the xd93 or xd94 doesn't and on modes that would support it, the input lag is way to high, nearly unplayable.
where the fuck is $500? It's $650 for the smallest 43", a size too small for 4K dont be idiots, a good 4K HDR tv starts from $1200 if you go lower you'll be making some compromise
I've been playing videogames for 30 years and cannot notice framepacing at all. Finished Bloodborne, noticed the odd dips in framerate, but this framepacing, nope, just don't notice it.
It's not as apparent as straight-up lower frame rate, but it does make the game feel kind of "not right". I've put about 150hrs in Bloodborne and loved every minute of it, but it doesn't feel as smooth as a perfectly locked 30fps even if it stays at 30fps most of the time.
girlwithturn This image was filmed, but even on a 4K television the contrast is maxed in HDR mode and other settings need to be adjusted from game to game unless you have a really high end tv the adjust automatically per scene.
Even though you filmed the HDR portion on your phone, it actually showed quite well how much better it would look in person I think. It was a complete contrast to the actual recorded footage of the game shown just afterwards, which looked really dull in comparison. Do more of this, maybe even a comparison side by side of hdr vs non hdr in this game. Cheers ^.^
You can call me crazy but I sold my standard PS4 and bought the PS4 pro because I really want to play FF15. I waited so long for this game that I think I deserve to play it at its current max settings and only the PS4 Pro can deliver it. The only thing I don't have is the 4k Hdr TV but already looking to sell my 1080 full hd tv before the game comes out. However I wonder if HDR will be worth it over my 1080p playing FF15 at high quality graphics if that will be even possible?
HLSGaming lol i can imagine. From a 1080p user, I wonder if it is worth getting a 4k tv since I don't know what settings options FF15 will have on a 1080p tv. If I can play at max graphics settings and stable 60FPS/30FPS then I don't think I will upgrade my TV.
u know that the PS4 Pro version is comming late Dezember? So there is not a big difference between the PS4 and PS4 Pro version. It makes not really much sense to play the pro version.
Battler43 it will already have a Pro patch day one. they just aren't releasing the fully implemented version until December in another patch. there will still be a noticeable difference even day one
Prince Dizzy it's ok you Peasants can beta test for us. enjoy your checkerboard rendereing. I on the other hand will play Ff15 On a Normal ps4 Since It looks the same as a ps4 pro. and I'll gladly buy it again, when it comes to pc. because I do have the money to buy a console and a pc and the games they have.
Prince Dizzy it'll come out like all final fantasy has had pc releases in some form for fashion. There is also a ton of jrpgs that never come to the PlayStation. More jrpgs exclusives on pc than PlayStation.
The level of detail drop off is crazy. Look at the ground textures at 1:44 (I suggest pausing). They're incredibly low resolution and there's a lot of detail and shadow pop in during the driving segment. I do hope that it comes to the PC at some point because the art, in general, is just gorgeous and deserves to be shown to its fullest.
This video is no where close to 4K on RUclips so no one can tell the difference between the look in split screen. Looks like it was down graded to 1080p.
dv2244 Ermm check out Battlefield, COD, Fifa 17, TLOU. all have better stable framerate compared to PS4 and light years ahead of the Shitbox one. And as devs get used to the PRO optimization will improve just like on any new console release Nioh, Spiderman, Nier, Persona 5, GOW, days gone, and Horizon will all look incredible on the Pro with different options to choose from.
kyotheman69 Yeah, I don't have any real reason to wait any longer than I need to. I have the base PS4, so I can pummel my way through the game at what looks like a steady 30fps, which is a "good enough." If the game is absolutely brilliant like we're all hoping it is, when it comes out on PC I'll have no problems picking it up again to replay it. The 60fps on the Pro is a real nice middle of the road option, but yeah apart from that there isn't any other incentive for me to get one, yet.
Thank you John for this early tech analysis of my most anticipated game of the year. I was like is Digital Foundry going to do a early tech test on the demo? And you did. Great 👍. Really excited to hear that this game is looking to be the best implemented HDR game for PS4 PRO so far! Just awesome. Can't wait for the full analysis. And then the analysis for when the December patch comes out for this game.
40-50 fps for the 1080/60 mode. If they lock the resolution to 900p they probably can achieve the 60fps they are targeting. Anyways I think the possibility of a PC release is high
G! Gaming My PC can do 4k 60fps or 1080p 120fps so I'm good to go on that. But 1080p 60fps is the minimum I want from a console. Not paying $400 for sub 4k 30fps
***** keep telling yourself that, one reason I bought a console as well as my pc but purely for shit ports. I'd rather play them at 30fps than with crashes, glitches and game breaking bugs on my $2000 pc. Just insulting, bad ports that is.
D1ff3ring 0pin1on5 Knowing Square, it will be a butchered port like every other FF PC game. Yes, the game is mediocre. Can't wait for its inevitable flop.
Nice breakdown DF! On a side note, those character designs and running animations are a perfect example of why we need to get our children involved in sports and other outdoor physical activities. Seriously! Watching the characters run and awkwardly putting out the flames on their friends leather jacket and designer jeans and gloves, hurts the soul.
Either they plan on replacing it with the 60FPS mode in either the final game or a subsequent patch, or it is there to mitigate noise and power consumption a bit.
Downsampling for those only with 1080p tv's. Apparently most developers choose graphics over performance but I've heard that they might implement 60fps on lightweight mode.
furthestfromthesun. the Pro is really all about if you have a GOOD 4k tv. If you do the difference is massive if not then there are only minor improvements to image quality and effects (in select games).
its not really a dumb question because from what I am hearing there are frame rate issues and things are going to be blurry and the graphics are going to take a hit.
I noticed a lot of graphical issues in the PC demo. Also very obvious tiled textures such as stones on the side of the road that repeat the same pattern.
Uya İpek noway man ffxv doesnt look that great at all even in 4k mode on pro i have demo....square dont know how to use aa etc it all comes off weird and tad blury honestly
I can't wait to get myself a PS4 Pro, an SSD in 2TB or more (or 4TB HDD), and a 4K HDR TV. For now, that's gonna wait since a family member was diagnosed with breast cancer, went through surgery and is now resting up before doing the chemo. I'm going to help pay for some expenses because family means everything to me. But anyway, my gripe with the "Pro Mode" is that it is running the games at 30 fps, whereas a more standard mode runs games at 60 fps. I'd rather have 60 fps steady and 1080p. Hopefully Square-Enix can fix up the game to run at 4K and a more smoother frame rate via patches.
Frame rate over quality everyday. It's shocking how sony/ms doesn't realize that they can't jump for a 4k console when they didn't even reach close to 1080p @60 on the ps4/Xone. If you want the best quality, just game on a computer. That's it, simply. No bullshit, consoles are not yet ready for 4k gaming and that's because the console market is aimed for people that either don't want to spend a lot on gaming but still want a good price/quality machine or people that want simplicity or have friends on that same platform. I have a ps4 because most of my friends have a ps4, and It's not bad. I just think that considering that few people have 4k tvs/monitors, and even though it seems tempting to play at 4k, they should focus entirely on bringing every game at 1080p @60 on ps4 Pro and it shouldn't be so hard to put out a machine that does that on the market at 300-400€ price range because the game optimization for consoles is way better than for pc. That should be the primary objective, because if you don't notice much difference between 60fps and 30fps that's because you never really played at 60. Believe me, the difference is major. Your game becomes a lot more enjoyable. Then, they could put an option for 4k on some games. Peace and ffs sony start putting some actual cooling system on your consoles.
FFXV is supposed to be getting a 1080/60 patch next month. As for the number of 4k TVs in the wild, a ton of people are waiting on content. People seem to forget that there weren't a ton of HDTVs in the wild before the previous generation started. Gaming consoles are a big factor in the adoption of newer standards. Also, as far as showing off a game, better graphics are simply easier to display to customers than higher framerates, which are typically more important to a small but vocal subset of the gaming community. Over time, that may change, but a lot of people are perfectly ok with 30fps in most games, as long as it is consistent.
CramerGamer the image is to blurry for 1800p for me it looks 1080p checkerboard is not makes this game justice the good thing is tabata said it will get more patches on the future to improve geaphics
Kain Bastien you might be used to it, but I'm getting PS4 just for the exclusive and most of them are 30fps locked... after playing on my PC on 120hz it just kinda hurts... especially when I play on 4 times the fps XD
Am I alone in not seeing any noticeable difference between the two modes? I'll probably stick with Lightweight mode on my pro for performance over making the game look slightly pretty. When it's out on PC is when I"ll care about the graphics.
So you're telling me I need to spend £350 on the PS4 not-so Pro in order to get a stable 30fps, frame pacing-free experience? This is why I hate consoles. Those should be the bare minimum numbers for the standard PS4: 1080p, 30fps. PS4 Pro should be 60fps experience - that's it. The graphical differences on the Pro are so minute that it's pointless. Games are so much better when they are fluid at 60fps, forget all this other shit. When you are concentrating on playing the game, it won't matter. However, shakey fps, or frame pacing, that's when things are really jarring. So what we get is the PRO achieving 45-60fps after patch - this is pointless because fluctuations in that region are worse than capped 30fps. Unless it's more or less locked 60fps, it's pointless. So that's a fail. On high quality mode, we will get 30fps with frame pacing issues, but more pointless graphical 'enhancements' that are virtually invisible.
That is the biggest problem of the Pro. They don't have locked modes. The framerate is extremely inconsistent. It's worse than locked 30FPS. Most of the games have between 40-60FPS in 1080p mode. Not even TLOU can keep it's framerate in 1080p mode and that is an old PS3 game.
You know what? I'm not even a Final Fantasy fan (more of a Dragon Quest kinda guy) and I've got to say I am really digging this huge open world design it looks gorgeous and and even I'm getting a little pumped for this one. Here's hoping this'll be the FF that makes me a believer.
cause we actually sees good games... wait till you've played half life and you'll beg for it to go to console and in no time maybe you'll even start following the half life 3 cult
Wait... this game is getting a 1080p 60fps patch? Even if it doesn't quite hit that mark, thank you! Also, just glad the game can hold 30fps, because playing the Platinum Demo made me a bit sick.
I'm a happy, paying DF subscriber but cannot find a place to request torrent links for downloads. I'd love to see torrents used to distribute these giant 4K video downloads. Any chance that we can ever expect that?
Good review. You forget to mention that the ps4pro patch is not out when the gane releases bit somewhere in december because they aiming 1080p native @ 60fps but need a little bit more time to achieve
Holy shit this is the first video ive seen on youtube that shows the game actually looking amazing, not compressed videos as it usually is. I mean even the gameplay released from SE and the affiliated sites has been shit due to it being from presentations. Damn im exited for this one
John, I've got an LG E6. HDR IS GORGOUS. but I put lag absolutely suffers. I'm still hoping lg will implement some sort of firmware update to help.... but I have to ask. How was it on the B6? Are there any settings you can find that help the input lag situation?
I've been thinking about heading back into game development, and videos like this have me more concerned about frame pacing than anything else. I wonder if Unity engine has any tools to ensure proper frame pacing?
I know DF's obsessed with frame pacing (negatively), but the performance is actually quite smooth in game. It's probably due to the consistent 30 but the frame pacing issue's only noticeable if you pay strict attention to it - even if you're very sensitive to performance issues like myself. I'm also surprised to see no mention of the most impressive technologies - animation, character models, physics.
Yeah, bad frame pacing drives me up the wall. Really can't stand it. The rest of the game does look glorious, though, but I wanted to save my thoughts on that until we get the final game. It's only fair!
Juakin BM It may be because I play PS3 games as well (many of which are LEGITIMATELY around 20 fps much of the time), but the frame pacing issue is barely noticeable in comparison to most games' dips in the lower and mid 20s. There's a difference between noticing & fixating on it, and it actually intruding on gameplay (which it doesn't due to input lag not being an issue).
When they say 1800p checkerboard, does that mean the game's native resolution is native 1800p then checkerboarded up to 4K? Or does it mean it's native resolution is lower than 1800p (like 1440p) then checkerboarded up to 1800p?
It checkerboards up to 1800p and then upscales to 4K. The thing about checkerboarding you have to keep in mind is that it doesn't introduce blur into the actual image (the blur comes from other sources including scaling to 4K and post processing). Infinite Warfare is checkerboarded up to 2160p and looks as razor sharp as a native 4K title - just with a few motion artefacts. It's a great technique
they are finally looking on giving us a 1080p 60fps mode for ps4 pro games, if bloodborne, and uncharted 4 does this as well, i would definitely consider getting a ps4 pro
uc4 has already been patched and it drops to 24fps, are you really expecting 60fps jesus wake the fuck up and understand how hardware works,, the potato cpu is just not capable of processing 60frames in such games, much less in an open world game so you can forget about 60fps lock on FFXV , it will drop to 35 and hover around 45-50 and feel incredibly inconsistent, just like Rise of tomb raider on the pro does
Sad part is due to the way PS4 games where designed, they were trapped with that CPU. Sony actually did want to use a better CPU but ran into a problem. PS4 games won't run well if at all without that CPU unless ported over. Meaning it would not be able to play older PS4 games. At that point they were probably better off waiting a year and just announcing the PS5 with mid cycle upgrade actually in mind. Also technically it can do 60 fps but this requires careful optimizing. XV will be fine as most of it's lighting effects are actually pre rendered set pieces (yes they admitted to that months ago) and at worst should only get unstable during heavy battles.
I wanna know Digital Foundry's opinion on the quality of the game itself and discuss the glitches that are in the new demo and likely the final product.
Well, it's tough to save for sure at this point, but I do like where it's going gameplay wise. I feel like there is a lot of potential here. I did not encounter any significant glitches during my time with the demo (which I finished) so I'm disappointed to hear that they exist.
if tabata is true to his word the day 1 patch should iron out the glitches. Nothing seemed game breaking from the looks of it but its still concerning cause who knows what might lie ahead for the other unseen 50 hours of the game.
How are you guys running Pro on B6 Oled TV? I have exactly the same set up and nothing is displayed on screen. I can hear the sound so it certainly is hooked up properly but I just can't get this thing display anything on TV. I looked up online and there are people who are having the same issues but no one really came out with solution other than disabling HDTC 2.2 on Pro itself. I was lucky to have a samsung sound bar that does HDR 4K passthru and it works fine with this set up except that it can't do 4K RGB output. Anyway, I prefer connecting PC and consoles directly to TV so I still need to figure out the way to fix the issue.
frame pacing isuses I've noticed is not too uncommon for multi-gpu setups and the the fact that the ps4 pro supposedly uses two GPUs when running on a ps4 pro might be an explanation. because I bet the lightweight mode only uses one gpu (so it's like a ps4 base) and of course the enhanced pro mode uses both GPUs I bet
They should offer a 1080p30fps with better settings all around and AA on hair like Witcher 3 does on PC, and a 1080p60fps mode. Screw that 1800p checkerboard. Both other options would be much better. (though of course all 3 options would be the best)
Has there actually been official confirmation that the game truly uses the checkerboard rendering technique? I'm not sure I agree with that conclusion because checkerboard rendering resolves a 4K image after 2 frames of animation. Whereas, when you switch from lightweight mode to enhanced graphics mode you can actually see the image 'tighten up' over several frames of animation (looks like 6-8 frames). This is not characteristic of checkerboard rendering. I think they're using a custom approach, perhaps some sort of pixel rotation algorithm that renders directly into a 4K frame-buffer. Just my opinion, but I think every frame they seem to flood the frame-buffer with some newly rendered pixels, then reuse the rest of the pixels using temporal reprojection. This is similar to what you would do with checkerboard rendering, but they seem to be reusing pixels rendered from several frames ago, whereas with checkerboard rendering you typically only reuse the pixels rendered in the previous frame. But that's just my take on it.
this is whole game is reason i am... Putting out over 2 grand before end of this month to have best experience possible with FFXV. Literally getting HTNT5 sound bar + 2 Rear SRSZR7 and 55 Inch 850d 4k TV. >.>
From Software really have to go back to Bloodborne to add a High Frame Rate Mode for the Pro and solve the frame pacing issue on the standard PS4 while they're at it.
You know the real problem with the pro that nobody is talking about is the fact that it has a subpar CPU. Sure it has an extra GPU so it basically crossfires and thats great for higher resolutions but when it comes to strategy games or rpgs or even open world games (anything that crushes the CPU) it will fail to hit those sweet spot 1080p FPS speed because no matter how many GPUs you put in it, it still suffers from having a AMD CPU with low single threaded performance.
What are you talking about? Everybody knows the CPU is shit and the reason why they kept it the same as base PS4 CPU is to make sure the backwards compatibility is flawless because there are still developers who make games that are bound the CPU clock cycles to work properly. So they HAD TO HAVE the same fucking CPU in it and the mode that underclocks it to base PS4 clock speed. I blame the developers, not Sony. That's why we don't see any performance boosts in games that don't have the Pro patch.
if we get highquality at 1080p60fps in PS4Pro that would be the best final fantasy to date
we are in dec
Ioannis Stf lightweight is 4k upscaled with the same graphics settings as 1080p, we havent gotten a 1080p 60fps mode yet
Uhm.. that's High Quality mode. Lightweight is what it is, Lightweight. It even says in the video. Its the standard 1080p image running at a higher framerate. Lightweight is not fully implemented yet but will in December run at 60 FPS.
Indeed. No 60 fps = I'll wait for the PC version and 4K 60 fps.
well I dont think that 1080p60fps is a measure of quality of the FF games ....
This bacground music makes me play
PaneMando lol yea play Dead or Alive like a record
more like google Meat Spin
Is awesome, i love it.
They added this music to Royale High on roblox 🤢

HDR and PBR are a match made in heaven. Ratchet and Uncharted show these off so well
True. This game looks stunning.

The Background Music is just EPIC , so beautiful !!
Isn't it? Wandering around the world map and hearing that...man, it got me hyped. :)
this game will look beatiful in hdr. sadly, I don't have one
good hdr tv = 5 times console price
You can get the Sony X800D for around 500 bucks. Has HER and is 4K.
HDR*

Come on DF

JAG LeMans
You won't notice most of the things they point out that are only off by two to three frames.
once you you go 60fps+ you will notice it right away heck 144fps is god like once you experience this on pc its hard to even look at 30fps
But will you notice two to three dips in frames at 60fps or above in general gameplay? We all know that higher frame rates are better.

ps4 pro looks like a solid 30fps machine
14-30 fps*
+Link_Core It never hit below the 20s...
its not the final patch
I wish the Pro would've gone for 1440p 60fps stable instead.
The Pro isn't the problem obviously the devs want their game to look the prettiest
My Pro is ready
really? It doesn't look ready, did we watch the same vid?
bmthnumber1 is there a better version at launch? I'll play it in the best possible format
Mid by Northwest
that doenst mean its ready, inconsistent frametime is anything but ready.
bmthnumber1 MY PS4 Pro is ready... which is what I said. I'll put the game in there on day 1 and play it
Mid by Northwest same=D got my ps4 pro ready to go
HDR actually looks like crushed black with maxed out contrast.
girlwithturn
This image was filmed, but even on a 4K television the contrast is maxed in HDR mode and other settings need to be adjusted from game to game unless you have a really high end tv the adjust automatically per scene.
You won't see HDR from this video.
A compressed RUclips video can never show how it truly looks, people should know this by now.
***** I wish, but false narratives and shitposts are easier to write so it will continue
HDR is beautiful and I will slap you for suggesting otherwise

Looks great! Love playing JRPG's on PlayStation, hows the PC petition coming along?
change.org is gonna care a lot of traffic when FFXV releases LMAO!! 😂😂😂
keep signing those petition boys! meanwhile iam just getting a ps4 pro

I don't think the term frame-pacing is going to catch on, it's been called stuttering and micro-stuttering for ages.

VaJohn still waiting for native 4k gaming and 60fps and max settings ain't ya. consoles. always compromise
Aaron Coleman I'm not waiting anything, 400$ vs 2000$ enough said. Oh wait PC will have to wait at least a year for a broken port too ;)
Aaron Coleman but you still waiting for FF15.
VaJohn where did you come up with 2000$?
2000 bucks? lmfao
I'm watching the 360p version on my phone held vertical with greyscale mode turned on to save battery. Come at me bro!
That fucking looping music.
It was great the first minute then it's like omg LOL
It drove me crazy in the demo.
lmfao I'm done
A mobile ringtone has less looping!
any know the name?

higher frame rate would be the only reason i would buy a ps4 pro and it seems like almost no new games are going to so
dv2244 Ermm check out Battlefield, COD, Fifa 17, TLOU. all have better stable framerate compared to PS4 and light years ahead of the Shitbox one. And as devs get used to the PRO optimization will improve just like on any new console release Nioh, Spiderman, Nier, Persona 5, GOW, days gone, and Horizon will all look incredible on the Pro with different options to choose from.
TLoU runs worse actually...
david Maloney battlefield, cod, fifa 17 and TLOU are already 60fps and 1080p. why isn't watch dogs 2 or deus ex mankind running at 60?
actually, most of the games are running worse on PS4 PRO... I would not recomend you buying one
Remember too, there will be a December patch specifically aiming at Pro support. So, these framerates and resolutions may not be final.
They should have waited before doing this report.
The demo isn't representative of the final game, nor the final PS4 Pro experience.
that hdr option looks stunning
Now I feel like I should drop some money on the Pro.
Tom Riddler so far it's the only reason I even want a Pro.
Same, waited 10 years, so you know I wanna play this in all its glory. Other than that, I don't really care to much for pspro right now
wait for PC version
kyotheman69 wait for pc? People waiting for this for 10 years mate and they don't want to wait another 2 years for a port
kyotheman69 Yeah, I don't have any real reason to wait any longer than I need to.
Will buy it in 2018 for xb scorpio during Black Friday sale, with all patches, fixes, dlc's and 60% off.
I am a very, very patient person.
wit till PC version then
JTijd Sony guy here but rather have it on PC in a year since we talking about the best possible experience.
40-50 fps for the 1080/60 mode. If they lock the resolution to 900p they probably can achieve the 60fps they are targeting. Anyways I think the possibility of a PC release is high
keep the 4k just give 1080p 60fps
Knightime X strongly agreed
Knightime X got the ps pro for 60fps boii
G! Gaming My PC can do 4k 60fps or 1080p 120fps so I'm good to go on that.
But 1080p 60fps is the minimum I want from a console. Not paying $400 for sub 4k 30fps
Knightime X ya tru but the real reason im getting it is final fanstasy 15 60 fps it wont come out on pc for a long time
G! Gaming My patience skill is level 99.
3:28 I wonder what would've happened if he did the counter attack, which is not supposed to happen technically
Oh yeh? Well i'll get 8k 120fp.......oh.....wait nvm. Console only.
Wait a year for the shit PC port maybe?
***** keep telling yourself that, one reason I bought a console as well as my pc but purely for shit ports. I'd rather play them at 30fps than with crashes, glitches and game breaking bugs on my $2000 pc. Just insulting, bad ports that is.
D1ff3ring 0pin1on5 Knowing Square, it will be a butchered port like every other FF PC game. Yes, the game is mediocre. Can't wait for its inevitable flop.
ProdigyDesigns "Doesn't like to make bad games" lol he's about to drop a bad game later this month. Square Enix are abysmal at PC ports.
wait year? Wait 5years. -__-
Now all there is to do is decided whether to start the game when I get it or hold off until the 60fps patch goes live.
Finish him! 🔥1080p 60fps🔥 Pro wins! Flawless victory!
Scythe 1080p is so ten years ago.
Samco05 Pro will get 60fps patch in December
After everyone beats the game already.
I'll wait for the PC release.
When you get Scarlett Johansson Introduce you Ghost in a shell before the actual video 🔥🔥🔥❤️️
Wait, so whats the point of the ps4 pro lightweight mode if it runs at the same framerate?
Either they plan on replacing it with the 60FPS mode in either the final game or a subsequent patch, or it is there to mitigate noise and power consumption a bit.
On release, they will try to make it 60fps. So far they can only obtain 45-50 fps.
Downsampling for those only with 1080p tv's. Apparently most developers choose graphics over performance but I've heard that they might implement 60fps on lightweight mode.
Sweet. We reached the point in gaming where any future editions/remix of present day games are going to end up looking even better
The miniscule difference between the pro and base ps4 isn't enough for me to get a pro. I'll stick with my base ps4
furthestfromthesun. the Pro is really all about if you have a GOOD 4k tv. If you do the difference is massive if not then there are only minor improvements to image quality and effects (in select games).
I'll wait for the 1080p 60fps mode to get it!
o jesus is this game going to run well on a basic ps4?
its not really a dumb question because from what I am hearing there are frame rate issues and things are going to be blurry and the graphics are going to take a hit.
I noticed a lot of graphical issues in the PC demo. Also very obvious tiled textures such as stones on the side of the road that repeat the same pattern.
This game may have some graphic problems but in my opinion still it looks great maybe the best gfx game i have ever seen
Uya İpek noway man ffxv doesnt look that great at all even in 4k mode on pro i have demo....square dont know how to use aa etc it all comes off weird and tad blury honestly
Daniel Byers I'm pretty sure he meant the rest of the graphics, not just the resolution.
BF1 is better, FF XV have great face and caracters resolution, but the envoroment is really poor
30fps (with dips) on the povertystation4 pro? must buy.
Xbox One doesn't have the frame pacing issue. Check NXGamer's analysis of the FFXV Judgement Disc.
I was looking forward for this! Sure you guys at DF wouldn't disappoint me
In other words people......KEEP YOUR OLD PS4.
TheDontay21 In other words shut the fuck up Xbummer. stick to your 720p Xbox done.
Basically. I'll save my money and pre-order the standard PS4 FF15 bundle instead!
TheDontay21 yeah I mean who would want the option to play at 1080p 60fps or 4k 30fps when you can play at 1080p and barely 30 fps?...
John, you have the best voice of the DF crew :)
image quality is really bad
played it on ks 8000 on hdr
it looks....bad
its not ready yet!
looks halfbaked
definitevely not true ps4 pro support
its not the real ps4 pro support
Aranea Highwind tabata said rhe support is coming on the future
CramerGamer the image is to blurry for 1800p
for me it looks 1080p
checkerboard is not makes this game justice
the good thing is tabata said it will get more patches on the future to improve geaphics
should just wait for PC version, check board just makes it look bad
Oh, it's filmed HDR footage from an OLED TV, is it? Would it happen to be a 4K TV per chance, John?
FFXV is so lit.
Yeah I've noticed the low resolution models on base PS4 and the blurriness
why can't they just do a 1440p 60fps fck 30fps after playing 60 fps on pc 30 just rapes my eyes
I agree. Being used to 60 fps and above, 30 fps seems like a slideshow. But nothing I can't get used to.
Kain Bastien you might be used to it, but I'm getting PS4 just for the exclusive and most of them are 30fps locked... after playing on my PC on 120hz it just kinda hurts... especially when I play on 4 times the fps XD
Kain Bastien at the very least they should unlock the fps so it can be up in the 40s at times
StrongSide inconsistent frame time, it'll still look bad :P
StrongSide they do have an unlocked frame rate mode until the patch
I'll be getting the pro probably at the end of January. So a second play through of this game is inevitable 😊
Pretty sure Bloodborne doesn't have any frame issues now.
Brocktimus Prime sadly it does on Old Yharnam :(
It does
Idk what kinda shitty PS4 you guys have but I've NEVER once had any bad frame issues.
Clearly you don't know what you're talking about.
decayedmatter Clearly people agree with me.
I wish there's an option to reduce graphic quality enough to make the game run at 60fps on these consoles.
Hey you wanto hear a joke?
PS4 4k native and 60fps
Ace How much did you pay for that?!
Want to hear another joke? Xbone 771p at 20fps! LMAO
In other words, stay well clear of launch version, wait a few weeks for reviews, updates, performance analysis videos.
I played this on Xbox one. 20 fps 720p. Fucking horrible.
Luke Petersen XD you bought the wrong console m8
Luke Petersen It's the same as PS4 now.
no, ps4 is boosting up 900p to 1080p. Xbox one is not boosting up anything.
@AmericavJapan 1909
The old PS4 is 900p?
ThisGamer Guy I have all of the consoles atm. Most people probably do
You know what? I'm not even a Final Fantasy fan (more of a Dragon Quest kinda guy) and I've got to say I am really digging this huge open world design it looks gorgeous and and even I'm getting a little pumped for this one. Here's hoping this'll be the FF that makes me a believer.
PC Port begging race
cause we actually sees good games... wait till you've played half life and you'll beg for it to go to console and in no time maybe you'll even start following the half life 3 cult
ThreeDaysOfDan LOL YOU MEAN THE ORANGE BOX??
yuyao sun its on the ps2/ xbox/ xbox360/ps3
ThreeDaysOfDan *cough* *cough* the orange box... THE ORANGE BOX aka disaster... LOL
ThreeDaysOfDan yea and the performance was crap and the bugs are everywhere... you rly havent used it have you...
Can we get a framerate test of the newest demo on a regular PS4 or Slim for comparison?
Wait... this game is getting a 1080p 60fps patch? Even if it doesn't quite hit that mark, thank you!
Also, just glad the game can hold 30fps, because playing the Platinum Demo made me a bit sick.
I'm a happy, paying DF subscriber but cannot find a place to request torrent links for downloads. I'd love to see torrents used to distribute these giant 4K video downloads. Any chance that we can ever expect that?
The Soundtrack is Amazing! Can you guys tell me which soundtrack it is
When is the battlefield 1 PS4 vs PS4 pro multiplayer video coming out?
Hope to see a comparison video of the Pro version and the regular version when FF15 comes out.
The high quality barely dips to 29FPS and sometimes goes over 30FPS, so I think I'll go with that on my PS4 Pro ;)
Good review. You forget to mention that the ps4pro patch is not out when the gane releases bit somewhere in december because they aiming 1080p native @ 60fps but need a little bit more time to achieve
Lord Beerus Really ?
Would be cool ^^
Where did you saw that :)?
xxVoicELeSSxx
i watched it on gamespot and ign. You can google ff 15 ps pro patch release..
Ok thx :)
Lord Beerus he says "after release"
Fuzzy Barbarian
He did? i guess i should not watch and smoke at the same time..
Holy shit this is the first video ive seen on youtube that shows the game actually looking amazing, not compressed videos as it usually is. I mean even the gameplay released from SE and the affiliated sites has been shit due to it being from presentations.
Damn im exited for this one
John,
I've got an LG E6. HDR IS GORGOUS. but I put lag absolutely suffers. I'm still hoping lg will implement some sort of firmware update to help.... but I have to ask. How was it on the B6? Are there any settings you can find that help the input lag situation?
Nice. A 60fps patch. Definitely going with that one.
I've been thinking about heading back into game development, and videos like this have me more concerned about frame pacing than anything else. I wonder if Unity engine has any tools to ensure proper frame pacing?
Digital foundry, I fucking love you.
Ign needs to take notes.
John Linneman Edit from original comment: I'm an idiot, didn't realize who I was talking to lol
Dude, I perfectly noted when I dowloaded the demo from tehe JAP store, it feels like 20fps even it's 30, they have to fix that shit...
1080p60
There's my Christmas gift :D
It's a great technique
they are finally looking on giving us a 1080p 60fps mode for ps4 pro games, if bloodborne, and uncharted 4 does this as well, i would definitely consider getting a ps4 pro
uc4 has already been patched and it drops to 24fps, are you really expecting 60fps
jesus wake the fuck up and understand how hardware works,, the potato cpu is just not capable of processing 60frames in such games, much less in an open world game so you can forget about 60fps lock on FFXV , it will drop to 35 and hover around 45-50 and feel incredibly inconsistent, just like Rise of tomb raider on the pro does
Sad part is due to the way PS4 games where designed, they were trapped with that CPU.
What's the different between high quality and lightweight if the fps is same 30 fps? i mean why not just choosing the high quality mode?
I wanna know Digital Foundry's opinion on the quality of the game itself and discuss the glitches that are in the new demo and likely the final product.
Well, it's tough to save for sure at this point, but I do like where it's going gameplay wise. I feel like there is a lot of potential here. I did not encounter any significant glitches during my time with the demo (which I finished) so I'm disappointed to hear that they exist.
Glitches will always be in video games. But they're already going to patch the demo because of the glitches so thats good.
Deliverygod
Glitches didn't ruin Skyrim but they did ruin Assassin's Creed: Unity.
if tabata is true to his word the day 1 patch should iron out the glitches. Nothing seemed game breaking from the looks of it but its still concerning cause who knows what might lie ahead for the other unseen 50 hours of the game.
So the actual resolution is 3200x1800 instead 3840x2160. Good to know. 1080p60 also incoming.
So, it's not clear yet which mode is best? Also, can modes be switched ingame?
I got a Pro for the 60 fps/1080p mode, If it does not deliver, I will sell it to my friend.
While waiting for the PC version
and we still dont know how df captures ps4 pro 4k footage
what is the name of the music in the beginning? i know it but don't know the name?
yeah someone plz tell me background music
fight fantastica
Ayhan Kaplan thnx man u made my day:)
ur welcome :)
been searching for this for hours..... :)
frame pacing isuses I've noticed is not too uncommon for multi-gpu setups and the the fact that the ps4 pro supposedly uses two GPUs when running on a ps4 pro might be an explanation. because I bet the lightweight mode only uses one gpu (so it's like a ps4 base) and of course the enhanced pro mode uses both GPUs I bet
0:45 - carpet with texture frames. Like in early idtech 1 games :')
They should offer a 1080p30fps with better settings all around and AA on hair like Witcher 3 does on PC, and a 1080p60fps mode. Screw that 1800p checkerboard. Both other options would be much better. (though of course all 3 options would be the best)
The polish on this game.
Just played Shadow Warrior 2 in HDR...
Dude.... FF15 is going to look gorgeous with this enabled.
How good is the gameplay so far? Isit a 10/10?
You know the real problem with the pro that nobody is talking about is the fact that it has a subpar CPU. Sure it has an extra GPU so it basically crossfires and thats great for higher resolutions but when it comes to strategy games or rpgs or even open world games (anything that crushes the CPU) it will fail to hit those sweet spot 1080p FPS speed because no matter how many GPUs you put in it, it still suffers from having a AMD CPU with low single threaded performance.
What? Tons of people are saying that the CPU is the biggest drawback of the Pro.
