    Regarding knit pro cables. I’ve been buying lantern moon swivel cords for my knit pro sets. They are like the chia goo cords. You get 2 of each size in a box.

    You should try the knitpicks reflections line. They are stainless… nice and slick… And the tips and taper are lovely.

    I have the fixed unicorn Addi needles and I love using them!! They feel great in my hands and I enjoy them everytime !!! I have moved to fixed needles also with Chiaogoo as it eliminates all the issues you can have with interchangeables. I buy 40” mostly and I can use them for almost all of my projects .

      I'd be curious to try the fixed Unicorns! I have a fingering weight sweater on the interchangeables and the step at the join has def been a bit annoying with that thin a yarn!

    Thank you for this great review! Really helpful! Indeed, the length of a knitting needle is also important and can make a huge difference, I fully agree... Even though I have small hands, I actually enjoy longer needles, too - shorter give me cramps, so I won't even dream of trying circulars that are 40cm or shorter, lol. There are Pony needles which are 14cm long, but strangely, I cannot find any reviews on these anywhere, and they are hard to find, too. Really enjoy your videos and your beautiful knitted pieces in all these beautiful colors! Kind greetings from a 46 year old German fellow knitter (beginner, that is, lol....) living in the Netherlands.

      @SylviasStuff  Месяц назад +1

      Yeah, I guess the way you hold the needles affect the cramping as well because I have heard a lot of others recommending the 4"/10cm ChiaGoos. Don't think I've ever heard of Pony needles though! And thank you very much Ulrike!! 💜💜

    as an idea, I use a balloon when fixing the needles, it helps them not to come apart during work❤

    Thanks for the thorough rundown. Chiagoo does make 3mm tips (and DPNs, and probably fixed circs) that can be purchased separately, so I don't think the bad luck thing is why they are not included in the set, even if that is an unlucky number in China... though I always understood that to be 4. Anyway, I think Chiaogoo just made a single set configured more for US release, and used that everywhere... or maybe you just happened to get a set that was for the US market. A lot of companies have separate European and US IC sets, the former often having just the full and half mm sizes, notably including 3mm, if they go that small, and *sometimes* 7mm, especially if the 3mm is not included (like your Addis). European sets are usually missing US "intermediate" sizes 3 (3.25mm), 5 (3.75mm), and 10.5 (6.5mm). A lot of European sets are missing the 7mm too, and go right from 6mm to 8mm, but you see a few more US sets with 3mm and more Euro sets with 7mm these days.
    I have more IC sets and fixed circs than I care to admit and am still eyeing at least two more. I just keep finding sets that actually serve new purposes for me, so shrug. I most have my eye on one of the only IC sets with 6" tips that's ever been on the market. Based on your Franken-needle, you might want to look into them-- they're just called GoldTip needles. They have crazy long tapers but sound about Chiaogoo-sharp, and use similar steel-core cords. I like really slick needles too and the only thorough review I've seen on the GoldTips raved about them but said they were grippier than other metal needles (they're aluminum) but became slicker with use. I'm waffling a bit myself over that. Unfortunately I've no idea the availability in Europe. They seem pretty niche.

      I'm honestly not sure about the bad luck thing, it's like a vague memory, I think I heard it once but then I was Googling and Googling and couldn't find anything that confirmed it hahah I do have 3mms that I did buy separately though. Interesting re: the differences between EU and US sets. Funnily enough I remember an American podcaster talking about struggling to find a 7mm needle once.
      Will def give GoldTip a Google, thanks for the recommendation!

    I have tried the knitpro mindful collection last year and honestly, the best needles for me. Nice metal the writing doesn’t come off, 360 metal cables and nice and pointy but not a leather weapon like others 😂 it’s as if knitpro and ciaogoo had a baby

    Thanks for the great needle review. I manage to unwind cables for Knitpro, Chiaogoo & Lykke interchangeable needles. I tried he Chiaogoo swivel cords and hate them as they catch on the joins. The knitpro swivels are great. However, my favourite interchangeable needles are the Hiyahiya steel needles. The cords swivel and don't unwind on me. I agree that the hiyahiya sharps make holes in my fingers, but the steel don't.

    I also had that problem with my Chiagoo's, I have to use a metal ring or a band-aid on my index finger, otherwise I will forget how sharp they are and end up with a hole.

    I was a diehard addi user for years, but then when I went to buy an interchangeable set, my local yarn shop said not to the addi set and told me I’d hate them with my knitting style. So I ended up with chiaogoo, which I love! I have the 4” and 5” set, and the mini lace set. Strangely in a lot of set the 3mm is skipped, don’t know why, but when I was researching sets I found that multiple sets left out the 3mm.

    • @SylviasStuff
      @SylviasStuff  2 месяца назад

      Are you a tight knitter? Because if so, the addi click system def wouldn't have worked for you! So weird that so many leave out the 3mm ! I've been using that size for a lot of my projects lately.

    I think all your knitpro needles are real. You probably just have ones that are older and some newer. All of my old ones, the US versions have their sizing rubbing off and I got them from different places. I have had mine for over a decade. Funny fact, Chiagoos are cheaper than Addis in the US.

    I am definitely allergic to nickel, but nickel needles do not bother me. The teeny tiny bit of latex in my supposedly latex-free bra, on the other hand, drives me insane. But jewelry, even sterling silver that usually has nickel in it will drive me nuts and cause weepy scabs, as will zippers and snaps. But knitting needles? No problem. And I have Knitpicks nickel coated needles, and some Addis. They’re fine so far, and it’s been many years.

    This was great ❤
    Chiagoo set is definitively not for me, if there are no set with longer needles.
    Addi sounds nice, but lacks the smallest sizes.
    But you really have to do your own research when you want an interchangeable set.
    i currently knit with old basic 12-15cm long needles where the cable is fixed (is that how you say it). Can't do anything under 40cm, and even that's a struggle. I loop everything 😅
    And use sizes 2mm-6mm, maybe once in three years 8mm

      Thanks!! 💜 ChiaoGoo does make 13cm tips and I wish I had bought those! May get the 1/2 set with the smaller sizes and sell the 10cm tips! And yeah the ones with the cables attached are called fixed :) I did manage to knit my orange hat on the longer needle addis without magic loop but it was definitely a bit tight!

      @@SylviasStuff and there's that one little thing where the cables could unscrew themselves, the idea alone drives me crazy so I'm not buying a set anytime soon 🙄
