- This week we are finally insulating and wrapping the outside of the shipping container, or at least the front of it! We can actually see the transformation happening and it is looking SO GOOD!

If a board or any construction member or material is vertical you say it is plumb. If a board or any construction member or material is horizontal you say it is level.
The blus is ok but the siding is awesome. Very wise to insulate the outside of the big blue box
Y'all should try that Japanese method of charing the wood. Which preserves the wood
You are quickly becoming my favorite channel!!! Still love "Molly on the man-lift".
This comment made our day😊😊
On the rest of the siding , install it even on the bottom, and cut the top. Way easier! 😊 ❤
Probably right!
Speaking of the view... then neighbours must be thinking "well the side THEY look at is a lot prettier!" :) :). You guys rock. :)
Lol yea they are probably happy to see the blue container go.
Don't ask, but it kind of resemble a mini version of Frank Howarth workshop 😀 Looking good so far! 👍👌
That was my initial thought when I saw the roof going up, also has a hint of Life Uncontained to it. 😊
What an honor😊
I was about to ask about that stump right before you explained it. I need to get one of those stump grinders. The conversion is looking great. I bet milling your own lumber for it feels pretty nice.
Another wonderful video. Dylan and Mollie great job. I say this a lot in the comments but it is still great to have younger people wanting to do hands on things not just sit on there phones. I am curious on what you will be doing over the big doors on the end. Till the next video keep up the quality work.
Nicely done. Molly needs a hard hat😊
Wood r value is approximately 1.41 per inch
Repetitive? - maybe. Entertaining? - Defiantly. Great progress in getting the wall up. Turning into a full blown building. -- Rent it out as a tiny home. - Cheers
😊 Thanks! It would be a cool rental, but we plan on using it as flex space for projects that won’t fit in our shop.
10:05 I use a plate level to solve that problem. It works great on tall walls where the studs may not be straight. I would imagine that it would also work for the siding.
Horizontal boards equate level... vertical boards equate plumb...
I love watching your content. It's very inspiring for others to see the hard work and success you have achieved as such a young couple building their dream. Great job guys.
iFixit for the win ❤
Great job! Looks awesome. Looking forward to the next one❤
Are you seeing any thermal bridging/transfer through the furring strips holding the insulation and which is attached directly to the metal container?
what a diffrent, really great!
Looks great!! That thing can double as a tornado shelter :)
Haha yea that’s for sure!
from Wales across the pond ! great job and love your videos
very nice job
Great job guys ! love that B&B look :) It's coming along good & as long as it looks straight to you that's all that matters , I mill my own & all my buildings will be B&B over the next couple years, I have about 60hrs just cutting 1+8 last summer so I can use it this year :)
Looks amazing 👏👏👏👏love the door
Great Job guys!!! Outstanding Craftsman ship 👍!!!
I love it!
*You both done great... it's looking awesome... look forward to your next video 🙂.*
Thank you for watching😊😊
Looking good!
Love the videos 😊
Excellent.
Awesome guys
Thank you!
Temps on sides and roof, which side has the sun shining on it?
Great job 👏🏻 👍🏻
Thank you! 😃
It Looks Awesome Great Job 😀😀😀😀
Thanks!
I thought board n batten, is supposed to have a gap between boards for natural wood movement?
This is green wood so it won’t expand only shrink.
Looks great!
Thanks!
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I try to fix everything also. Great video
Yes! Thank you!
How do you keep the rough cut lunber from rotting?
You mentioned that the foil tape isn't useful because water intrusions aren't a risk. That's true, and it's also true that air leaks aren't a major concern, either. Both of those are reasons why people would ordinarily use foil tape, or house wrap, or flashing tape, and both of them don't matter when you have a solid metal container underneath.
Yea my thoughts exactly. Air intrusion is the biggest issue and actually I think we will have to vent this because it’s too airtight😅
It looking really good. The batons are doing exactly what they are supposed to, covering the space between boards and making it look level. Between the siding and Whats above it, are you going to put any type of flashing, like Z flashing, to carry water away instead of going between the boards?
Probably will use a flashing, but not sure how that will be done quite yet.
Track saw 1 side the saw table. I know it's a lot of work but will be better
In the end it doesn’t really matter. It’s nice to work on a project like this that is more utilitarian than fine craftsmanship.
Wonder if shiplap edge would help 😮
You made me nervous when you were standing on that ladder.
And people think insulation is just for the cold!
Where we live it’s only for the heat lol.
It looks so nice that you have to do the back of the container also. I mean, who washes their face but leaves their butt dirty.
15:21 18:48 18:55 What are you doing? Get the right ladder and use it properly. Can’t earn much injured.
Curious, when adding so much to the exterior of the container (metal roof, insulation, siding, etc), at what point does the container itself become irrelevant and when would it have made more sense to skip the container and just use a concrete slab(or wood floor) and wood framing?
As is, I can't imagine you're saving much money by starting with a container. And you're restricted to its dimensions. Do you know for a fact that you'll be moving it later, is that it?
We owned the container already and did not purchase it for this. We used it because we had it. However, this is a common misconception. Concrete alone would cost almost as much as a container where we live. Concrete is expensive and we live next to a port so containers are cheap.
Oh I see, cool. I assume you want to build a permanent woodworking shop on your property at some point, so I was just thinking why not build a proper small building that could be expanded over time as your needs grow instead of working with a fixed-size container. But if you already had it, makes sense to use it. And it of course makes for good youtube content with so many people wanting to use containers for various buildings. Lots of hard work you two are doing, wish I had your energy and drive! @@Woodbrew
I noticed the tree was gone. The front looks so great. I have to say that the music, of the guitar, is too repetitious, i had to turn down the sound.
Noted!
Does Ifixit tell you how to fix whatever is not working?
Yes! They have a great repair guide section of their site.
@@Woodbrew wow nice! Thanks
Looking good but I got to ask you, could you have famed up the same way without the container? Or is it that you guys are planning on moving it.
Yes, but we already owned the container.
Got it. Nice job anyway. I’m also happy that you both putout that fire before if got bad.🙏
Are you going to put solor to it?
Possibly! Definitely going to use a Bluetti power station to power lights and smaller tools etc
@@Woodbrew harbor frieght has excellent low cost with the right power for things like that. And what better way to learn it
What is the end goal of this container? A shed?
An extra work shop is what he said 🤷🏼♂️
A very narrow shed! I would of just built a new frame building instead of wrapping a metal container. It's his gig not mine. Kids do weird things these days and claim to be pros!
@@JDDupuy Actually what they're doing is not weird (people even build house with this method) and by using container, it should be able to withstand strong wind which they often get in their area. 👍👌
We already owned the container and did not purchase it for this project. , No it wouldn’t be cheaper to build it from scratch… I checked. We live near a port and these containers are sold at scrap value.
Looks fantastic nice job!
Why do you not just build a proper building, containers are DUMB
loose the music
Looking good!
Thanks!
