Heck, watching how excited you guys were when cutting that log made me wish I was there to give it a try, too. Lol. It's going to be cool to see some future videos of that beast I action.
Thanks Guy! It is a surreal feeling for us. Having purchased all of our lumber for the past decade and always dreaming of the idea of making our own made that moment very special. Seeing that first board come off the mill represents a future full of amazing projects we've always dreamed off doing.
@@Woodbrew Do some research on building a solar kiln for drying the lumber.
I did countryside management qualifications at college and one of the tutor's gave us the best definition for a "weed" I've ever heard: anything growing where you don't want it to be.
Also, please never try to roll a tree that hasn't been chopped down yet, you only roll trees that have fallen and are hanging up in another tree and you use the rolling effect to make it roll away from the tree it's stuck in. The best way I've found to fell a tree that's leaning 1. Cut the gob (mouth, wedge shaped hole, etc,) aiming in the direction you want it to fall. 2. Slowly cut your back cut making sure that you leave a lot more hinge material on the opposite side to the way it is leaning so that the extra material will stop the tree falling sideways. 3. Pray! Better yet, put a rope in the tree to pull it where you want it to go or away from where you don't want it to go, then follow steps 1 to 3 as before.
Also, check out #Buckin' Billy Ray Smith, he has some amazing information on felling leaning trees that I wish they had taught me when I did my countryside management courses. Keep up the great work, guy's 👍👍👍👍
Roll may not be the best term, but you can make them hold on the hinge wood on one side longer and twist before breaking off. It doesn't move them super far, but it can help the canopy from hanging up in the other tree. Based on your comment I think we are saying similar things just in a different way.
hello from the netherlands, we are so glad whith youre smile and hapines adbout youre new sawmill you make us smile whth youre video keep going
You're having so much fun! Keep it up!
I’m so happy and excited for you two! I can’t wait to see what this mill produces!!
Matthew Cremona has some good sawmill videos. He mills the wood that he uses for his furniture builds.
I am working on my splishy splash score
So excited for you guys!!! First log cut!!! Stoked for what’s to come!
Thanks for mentioning you missed her first cut because I definitely noticed and wondered what had happened 😅 Looks fun, you guys are doing great 😊
looks like your both having a great time :) Thanks for always sharing the videos with us!💖👍😎JP
You two are living a dream!! Just something special about seeing how beautiful wood can be -- just like running an old board through a planner just so exciting!
Just a suggestion you need to sticker that wood.
We did once we stacked it👍
Very cool. Not only creating new paths in the woods, but creating new boards to make new things. Cheers.
Heck yes! Thanks for watching✌
RUclipsrs Chuck and Deb at Iron and Oak Sawmill are a great source of information too
It must be so awesome to be able to get those nice thick slabs. That's not typically something easy to come by. I bet you are excited at the prospects of what you are going to be able to make out of all that :D Congrats!
Good luckwith tool and we are looking forward to see more content.
The laugh @22:59 is a "Cremona" laugh if I ever heard one.
Just trying to center myself with the one and only😂
cutting that log was SATISFYING to watch, and to see the joy in yourselves.
SO FUN!
With all the saw dust the mill will create, you can just scatter around that area to dry up the ground and also keep weeds down.
The saw mill is definitely going to be a game changer. Are you guys ever going to finish up the truck series?
We actually ended up selling the truck. With covid prices jacking up car prices, we found we could make a decent profit by selling then and ultimately decided to do so. We want to do another series like it, though. We learned a ton and it was a rewarding project.
This is only making us want more space! 😂😂 Nice work!
Always need more space🤣 I don’t think that want never ends hahah
27:02 - Dylan, you had one job!! I noticed that it wasn't first cut Molly did. 😄😀👍
Absolutely good for nothing! 🤣
Was totally thinking... make sure you turn the gas on this time. lol
Just saw a video where the guide blocks loosened up on a hm 126. Wondering if that’s why you got waves. Be nice to have a thousand logs like that 16 feet long. Glad I found your channel…. Peace
Congrats on the new Sawmill! I have had the same model for about a year now and it is still one of my favorite purchases. One neat trick you can do is take a normal 5 gallon bucket and hang it on the bottom hinge, on the shoot side of the mill, using the bucket handle. Its the perfect size to catch all of the saw dust so you don’t have to shovel anything later.
We have to do this!! Thanks!
So happy for you both. I love that Molly is just like, hold my beer I wana go"
Nothing makes me happier than seeing her do badass stuff like this😊
Love watching your enthusiasm, enjoyment in life; work and your relationship.
Thanks so much!
That was so cool
🤗🤗
Love the enthusiasm but you need to watch "Out Of The Woods" channel for the best milling info. What you have there appears to be is plain/flat sawn timber (cathedral pattern). The better to go for is rift sawn (best for general furniture pieces), and then for quarter sawn (more structurally sound and is ideally suited for chair and table legs etc.), but not all logs have good quarter sawn properties.
Yes that is a good source of information. We are aware of grain orientation from woodworking and understand the differences between them. This was merely the first cut on the sawmill.
@@Woodbrew great to hear. Love the channel. Stay safe and well.
Wow!!! Guys that was awesome just watching, I can’t even imagine what it’s like in person?! 🤯 once my husband and I purchase some land with for home build, I’m gonna convince him to let me buy a sawmill!!!! Thank you so much guys!!!
DO IT! They are very rewarding. It's an amazing feeling turning a log into useable lumber😁
I'm happy for you guys! How exiting!
😊😊😊
You guys make my day. God bless 🙏🙏🙏
That is tooo kind Louis😊
I found your Chanel form your help with Ambition Strikes. I caught up on your last three years, good content. In this video after you cleared you the spot under the trees you said you had a big mud pit. On other videos I've seen they used wood chips to fill in mud. I haven't seen a wood chipper in your tools. I was wondering if you stacked up the tree tops and brush and you used the Lawn Shark on it would that work for making chips?
Congratulations!
Thanks Jennifer😊
Not that I'm a tree trimmer by trade, but in hairy areas, we've always used wedges as a "safety" when cutting trees to kind of help us push the trees away from obstacles. Doesn't sound like it was a big issue in your instance, but thought I would add in my .02. Thanks for sharing!
Absolutely, wedges are fantastic. I thought I could be clever and get away with it, but nope. I knew its was a zero risk situation to try a skill of rolling the tree off, but didn't go as planned.
You need another container as a drier!
We plan on building a smaller solar kiln to start with👍
Exciting times
😁😁
I love ECHO chainsaws! Magnesium baby and half the price of Stihl. Why not get another container and put the mill in-between and then put a pitched roof over. Logs on the forest side, cut lumber in one container and heavy equipment in the other container. A container would make a good natural kiln.
Never messed with a laser like that before. Thanks for the helpful tips!
❤️
Is there a stickering and drying plan you have for the wood you're cutting? I'd love to see the plans for that too!
Yes! We are going to use the first batch of lumber to build a solar kiln. There will be videos documenting this too.
Congrats on becoming a sawyer! 👍
🙌🏻🙌🏻
I'm so thrilled for you both. I'm absolutely living my dream through your videos. Maybe I'll one day be living my own dream, but for now please excuse my lazy vicariousness 👀
Haha thank you so much! Go out and live your dream!!
Looks like you are having a great time. Way too much yammering but a good start on your mill. Yammer all you want, it's your video and I'm an old fuddy duddy.
Haha I always tell Dylan he talks wayyy to much🤣
That was pine, right? Next log, do a small first cut for 1 by wood then down on the second cut to where you want to start the square. That way you got wide 1 by to cut to size too. Other than that, cool toy!!!! Like Guy said, made me want to be there and have a turn at it. Have you got any walnut trees handy for some wood?
Leave extra wood on the side you want it to fall towards, don't cut extra. You'll control your drops far better
Yea, It just broke with substantially more hinge wood than normal. It happened before I could steer it with the hinge wood.
Congrats !!! Please tell us how long did you wait for this sawmill ?
From ordering? I think it was only a week to get here!
Ok, so you guys have said a lot of things - the sawmill is going to be a big thing, you want it to be mobile to take it some where, game changer. So, what are your plans for it. If you cut the logs into boards, it will require air drying 1 year per inch of thickness. Will you store and dry it in the container? Or do you have a local kiln you can take the boards to?
And I just heard him say “we have to build us a kiln first”.
We will have to make a video addressing all these things! But we will be building a kiln very very soon!
Watch Lumber Capitol Log Yard on RUclips. It’s about two Highschool girls in PA who run a sawmill business.
I’ll definitely check them out!
@@Woodbrew …and their family.
I really want to get one of those but there really expensive I can't even get a car from the dealer let alone a saw mill. Also I'm afraid the blade well break off and stab me in the face lol.
Cool and good idea but isnt the lumber going to be to wet to use
Yup! We are working on a kiln design!
I'm interested in knowing how you control the cut. How do you set up for, say, a 2" cut versus a 1" cut?
There is a scale on the side with an arrow with all the normal cuts listed that you use as you lower the saw head.
Do you have a burn pit?☘
Do we have a burn pit….. we have like 5🤣😅
Temporarily could be 2/3years do the prep work first then No rush keep doing what you love
TRUE
What are the 130max going for now?
Approx $5000 retail before addons and freight. We only paid ~$3600 for ours using some clever tricks involving tax deductions and credit card reward points. We plan on discussing this further in a future video.
@@Woodbrew wow, better get that video out lol!!
Wonderful work, #Woodbrew! ("W" filled! 😆) Great sawing, you two! Just watch out for that saw-head adjustment handle! One day it will let go. I hope neither of your faces are in its path!
Yea that sounds like something that will happen to one of us😅Thanks!
@@Woodbrew You are most welcome! It sure knocked #1806StoneHouse for a loop!
Dillion, don’t y’all live in LA? Was that an Auburn tumbler you were drinking from? I figured you’d be LSU LOL.
But just in case. ROLL TIDE!!
We live in AL. WDE

My apologies! I thought you mentioned living in LA once after a hurricane went through. Nonetheless I still enjoy your content. Good luck with the saw mill.
No water splash grain reveal??? Unsubscribe! lol

Would love to hear about y’all’s faith. Are you Christian?
We are!
@@Woodbrew I had a feeling! That’s great!
