    I'm from a Catholic background and I've come to find much peace in learning of and from Islam. Hearing the Seerah of Muhammad pbuh, and the Sahaba (may God be pleased with them all) and al Qasas in the Holy Quran. It has giving purpose to better/improve my taste in life redefine my needs and wants for things that truly matter. Today I feel the West has done us a disservice by keeping true Islam in the dark for so long. Today I thank God The One and Only to have guided me to sheikhs like you Yasir Qadhi. I admire your work for your exceptional knowledge and attention to details. May Allah be please with your kind work. May he grant you a long life full of health.

      How wretched am I, how embarrassed am I, when my God says to me, 'Did you not feel ashamed to disobey Me, not fearing chastisement, hiding the sin from My Creation, turning away in your passions near Me [or: refusing in your passions to draw nearer to Me],' so repent from what you had committed, in the hopes of attaining the Lord's Pleasure."

    Catholic here. We're all dealing with these problems. Ultimately we're going to have to fight back and retake these institutions. They're being run by a fringe minority and most Americans hate it.
    In the meantime, a good approach is Pod schooling, where groups of like-minded parents come together and essentially make a communal homeschool based on the parents' expertise. My kids are in one. My husband teaches math, the English and History teachers are Mormons, the Science teacher is Evangelical, all with real training and experience in their fields.
    I'd recommend, where there isn't an available Islamic school, reaching out to other families and finding Christian Pods like ours, or organizing one yourselves. Plenty of Christians are looking for options and the schools and culture are so corrupt that we have to all be in this together.

      As the Christian Negus of Abyssinia reportedly remarked to one of our Prophet’s companions many centuries ago, our faiths are like rays of light from the same source. Even as certain aspects like theology and law diverge over time, values and virtues tend to stay similar. In the face of unprecedented institutional and moral corruption, we need all hands on deck.

    Really appreciated this conversation. I do want to note, I've seen a lot of kids in this generation and how they've reacted to different parenting styles. And the confident Muslims who continue to practice for the rest of their lives, never come from the teenagers who were sheltered and didn't have opportunities to make mistakes, have open conversations, and learn to present themselves and their religion to the world naturally and without so much fear of judgement. Bc that fear comes from a lack of real experience. As Muslims, we only have sex in a very specific set of conditions and that's that. And if you're living in America, for the most part ppl will leave you alone for those religious beliefs as long as you're not encroaching on their freedoms. Being unapologetically Muslim and true to those beliefs have to come from the teenager having the opportunity to choose that for themselves rather than mama and baba are forcing me to live a certain way.
    Definitely internet restrictions growing up are necessary. However, every Muslim kid I've seen that has had limited social media and no phone in high school has always turned to the other extreme or grown up resentful of their parents bc whether you're in Islamic school or not, that's very obviously not the norm. It's really important to shelter your kids especially when they're younger but also give them the freedom to learn to stand on their own and learn to be confident in the world outside that shelter.

    Some notes
    - ulema are parents as well and they too struggle with dealing with this and other issues. No one is perfect and people struggle and get things wrong.
    - parents have to think long term and not be reactionary to one off incidents.
    - start early. Marry someone who can support a good Muslim family environment. Speak to your spouse about how you can make a good Muslim role model environment.
    - if the child can't see Islamic role models in their household, then it will create issues down the road.
    - human beings are naturally believers in Allah. But we live in a society which is "like acid" to the fitrah, it burns that natural disposition to God.
    - we need to contextualise LGBT as a behaviour which is disobedience to Allah, just like drinking or any other zina.
    - every era has its own focus of aqeedah, we don't fear our children taking Jesus as a God because we've tackled this question and now we need to address the issue of LGBT.
    - we should ally ourselves with the Christian groups who are strong and experienced in tackling this issue. For example lots of Christian children's books promote traditional family models without theological issues. Also famous podcasts with hundred+ hours on these topics produced by the Christian community.
    - there's a deliberate cultural framework where there are materials produced to undermine traditional family models.
    - the issue of morality, liberalism and sexualisation is the biggest challenge of our times.
    - we need to provide our children with traditional gender role models, from our own homes and from the seerah.

      Jazakum Allahu khayran, Yaseen TV, for the very helpful notes. Just one substantial correction though: the excellent podcast with 88 episodes and something like 150 hours of listening material is not from Christians but from OUR own community, alhamduillah. It is called A Way Beyond the Rainbow. I know of no other comparable resource in any other religious community. In fact, it seems that even some Christians have been listening to and benefitting from it. It can be accessed through a simple Google search (RUclips hasn't been letting me post the link here for some reason). Wassalam.

    “It takes a village to raise a child”. Muslims need to form communities wherever possible, and start thinking seriously about hijra (whether it’s to another city, state or country) to safeguard their emaan. In some places and contexts there may even be alliances between Muslims and non-Muslim conservatives based on shared values, depending on the local relationships between communities.
    What’s clear is that there needs to be a divorce between the mainstream Muslim community and open peddlers of degeneracy. Hindsight is 20/20 and at some point before it may have been expedient (or necessary) to ally with the liberal left, but it’s time now to take stock of the damage this relationship has done to our communities in the west.
    The USA specifically is undergoing a “great sort” and heading towards a “national divorce” of sorts where people in general are making “Hijra” along socio-political lines. In this time of upheaval the Muslims need strong and wise leaders who are able to safeguard our values and build bridges with the right people. Wallahualam and may Allah guide us all.

I thought that parents who are well educated, teach their children at a very young age like maybe 4 or 5, because they have a better understanding of these topics, however LGBT topic has started to rise recently.
    All muslim parents should devote time to educate themselves to deal with this problem.

    When it comes to discussing this issue with younger children I think it’s important to help them understand that it’s ok to be different. Rather than demonising their friend’s family with two moms for example. Teach them the Islamic way. Explain family dynamics in age appropriate ways.
    Focus on you, not them. Teach them compassion and resilience. Teach them by example, that it’s ok to be misunderstood and be confident to live within your own values. Especially in a time where everyone’s rights are being acknowledged and promoted and protected.
    Delve deeper into the issue as they come to you with those conversations, and be open to listening to their thoughts and ask them questions in order to find out how to navigate the conversation and what you need to address. Rather than shutting them out with statements.

    The reality is whatever we teach them at home they will learn from outside world. I often have conversation on this topic with my college going daughter and son. About LGBT community, both of my kids tell me that people are born that way and that we have to coexist with them. My opinion is that we cannot impose our faith on other people. If people want to be lesbian or gay, we cannot stop them. I feel sorry for these people but there is nothing we can do for them. It’s best to ignore them and live our own lives.

    The existence or rather the prominence of the rainbow I believe is our test in modernity.
    Yet who are we to decide if we are guided and they are not. We hear even of divorces where husbands all of a sudden decided they are attracted to males and vice versa.
    Alhamdulillah for الله’s guidance when we seek it everyday through our prayer.
    I believe the prayer of a Muslim is the unseen fortress that he or she could build EVEN if they have been afflicted with the notion of same sex attraction.
    I believe a revisit to every rukun and aqeedah points in our religion, especially that of salah should suffice. Of course by doing these by extension we are also learning the Qur’an and Seerah.

    Asalamualaykum. Any advice or suggestions? My daughter went to an Islamic school for 3 years. She knows the story about Prophet Lut (S.W) and she is aware of what the lgbtq community is since it is being forced down everyone throat, especially in kids cartoons, in stores, commercials, schools, ect. Once I put her in a public school in 5th grade, she was exposed to it more since that is all they talk about unfortunately. They are already asking kids to label themselves. Once in 6th grade it is even worse!! Her Best friend from 5th grade is a nice and sweet girl but is now gay with a girlfriend. Most of the people around her circle is gay. She is starting to ask me why is it haram and they are nice and "love is love" I teach her it isn't our business but it is also not right and we don't follow that. Now she labels herself as A-sexual. I am like what? we are not labels. She said that means I am not sexually attracted to anyone. I said that just means your to young to be anyways but the correct terminology is straight. DON"T fall into the whole labeling thing. I am just worried if she hangs around this group what else might influence her. Any suggestions so I can stop it right before it gets worse?

    One problem is that the younger generation feel Islamic teachings are outdated.

    • @AllPraisebetoAllah60
      @AllPraisebetoAllah60 2 года назад +2

      Yes because they live in the west like America, France, etc. Why people in Africa, or the Muslim countries don't think it's outdated?

    • @Subzero-kt3mi
      @Subzero-kt3mi 2 года назад

      The younger generation are sharper and more inclined to follow Islam without the baggage of 9/11 pushback.
      The biggest pushers of dengeracy amongst Muslims - ilhan omar, rasheeda taleb, Linda sarsour, ingrid maddison - are all above 40 ... the youth are the ones pushing back.

      Not censoring. But I believe I'd like to explain things to my kids on my terms, not on their terms. I know that my 5 daughter will eventually be exposed to lgbtq (alphabet soup). But, that doesn't mean I'm just gonna let her watch a show that has it. I'm gonna do what I can as a parent and when I feel the time is right, I will bring it up. And if she's exposed to it beforehand, then we'll discuss it. But I'm not just going to give up and submit. That's defeatist.

      Yes, rebound rebellion is a very real thing. When children feel they have been constrained and restricted, the moment they get a bit of freedom, they can explode like a fizzy drink opened...the key is to give them appropriate freedom. Dont give them a smartphone even if your lives depended on it.

    Putting them in islamic school isnt fool proof. We are in one of the top largest city of US- islamic is just a name- speaking from sending my children in islamic throughout till high school-
    Rainbow is coming from home to the schools- closet gays/lesbians exist there as well.

    I disagree with Sheikh Yasir regarding not giving children their own computers. This will break trust in a way that is hard to repair. In creating an atmosphere of mistrust with your kids, they will always see you as someone who doesn’t trust them, and this will be hard to fix as they get older. Just tell them not to do something, and trust Allah to do the rest.

    • @AishabintIdris
      @AishabintIdris 2 года назад

      Don't look at it as not trusting them, but as Shaytan doing all he can to lead them astray. No one is immune to that. Also, like Dr. Yasir said, they can have a common computer

    Hijrah. Hijrah. Hijrah. Allahu akbar. Children raised in muslim communities RARELY adopt atheism, lgbt, homosexuality, open sexual promiscuity. If you admit medina is different than las vegas, you admit every city is not the same. Allah sub7ana wa t3ala is ArRazzaq no matter where you live. What is the excuse for exposing our children to all the incredible danger outlined in this lecture?

    • @truthspeaker8841
      @truthspeaker8841 2 года назад

      I use the word rare, meaning uncommon. If you have any statistics I would appreciate if you share. The reality is that in the west the rate of atheism among those born muslim is significantly higher than in muslim majority communities. The fact they keep it secret is actually a positive thing. As far as where, there are a huge number of countries to choose from, a small sample would be indonesia, malaysia, qatar, jordan, brunei, tanzania, maldives, comorros, anatolian turkey etc. Each individual should do their own research just like their parents did when they immigrated to the west. The need for due diligence is the same.
