Regarding marrying "a rich man", in an unusual twist Anna-Frid became a very wealthy princess by marrying a Swiss prince from the ancient Swiss House of Reuss. She is also a countess
The production values on Abba recordings were legendary, the overlaying harmonies are still revered by artists today. The orchestrations by Bjorn and Benny were masterful and the band was a true global phenomenon ✌️
This song was from the golden era of economic rise and growt in Europe (in the seventies) where living standards were in continous increasement and vast majority of the population did so well. it's obvious that the number of wealthy people was also in increasing trend in those years.
The women in this group are classically trained singers. Annafreid is a mezzo-soprano and Agnitha is a soprano. This is not just some little pop group, these are all trained professionals.
There's no such thing as a bad Abba song 😂 The thing about Abba is that all there songs are different but instantly recognisable as Abba. Try "Does your Mother know" for a different sound as the boys sing the majority of it. Or "Eagle" which is a favourite of mine. Much love from England 🏴
@@RightTurnClyde I'd be happy if they reacted to that one also, but like I said, the song that started it all, Waterloo was the winner. That put them on the map.

Hi, dear friends, I would especially suggest songs like "That's Me", "Cassandra", "The Piper", "I've Been Waiting For You", "Move On", One Man, One Woman", "Our Last Summer", "Knowing Me, Knowing You", "Rock Me", "Let The Music Speak" and "Eagle" but there are of course many more interesting songs of them.
Fernando is very beautiful with an incredible flute and snare drum. Voulez Vous brilliant disco with handclaps amazing brass and a totally driving beat both very different both instantly recognisable as pure ABBA
Frida soars on this song! She has this incredible deep velvet voice that adds a bit of drama or comfort (depending on the song) to any song ❤ a few other Frida songs that I think are standout ABBA songs are: The Visitors, Knowing Me Knowing You, Fernando, I Let the Music Speak, Should I Laugh or Should I Cry, I Wonder, Why Did it Have to Be Me (Live 1977), and Tropical Loveland
I think Waterloo was their break out. They won Eurovision with it I believe. They were extraordinary pop artists and the men wrote the songs.. or most of them.
True, the guys wrote and produced the songs. But the girls had a lot of input into the vocal arrangements - and those are legendary. By the way, Agnetha was a successful songwriter in her own right, with several self penned hits in her native Sweden, before ABBA was even founded. (Frida had hits as well, but she didn’t write songs).
I've had the privilege of seeing ABBA twice in concert and both times they knocked it out of the park. Check out "Eagle" next, it's probably the most beautiful song ever recorded.
Eagle is spectacular but the long (album) version is where it really soars. Sorry, bad pun, lol. It's yet another example of Abba creating something different.
Anni-Frid Lyngstad has had a very interesting life. From being ostracized by her country after ww2 to becoming part of one of the most popular singing groups of all time and even becoming a countess, what a life. Great song, great group!
Hey great song and reaction . Just 2 words... MORE ABBA! Try their song Fernando, incredible harmonies. Dancing Queen is probably their biggest hit. The official videos for both of those is best
Definitely need Dancing Queen, Waterloo and Fernando! They’re so versatile and never a bad song!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤. Love this one, it reminds me of musical theater!!. ❤❤❤❤❤
Hello , so nice to see you again reaction to ABBA songs "Money money money" (1976) it is a very good song in a different musical style, cabaret type, set in another era "Money money money" is the single that followed "Dancing Queen" and reached # 3 in the UK, #1 in Australia and several European countries. It is a totally different song from its predecessor "Dancing Queen" and also from its successor "Knowing me knowing you" This is the versatility of ABBA, they go from genre to genre, as well as from success to success The song lends itself very well to the brunette Frida's lower voice, the choruses are sharper in contrast (and very catchy) The instrumentation is excellent The official video is one of ABBA's best, very creative, it shows Them in fashion situations and also with their famous kimonos But a few months before ABBA premieres the new official lyric video of "Money money money" I hope to see you soon with more ABBA songs My best regards to You from Buenos Aires Argentina 🇦🇷 South America
"Waterloo" introduced ABBA to the world and remains a favorite of mine. And, if you want to hear Anni-Frid (Frida) carry the show, the last song on their last album (before reuniting), "Like An Angel Passing Through My Room" is her, solo, with no backing vocals whatsoever. And it's beautiful.
For this song, Benny and Bjorn got their inspiration from 'Cabaret', a 1972 Oscar-winning movie musical set in 1930s Berlin. You should check out Liza Minnelli and Joel Gray performing the very similarly titled 'Money Money' from that film!
Love ABBA, watched them winning the eurovision song contest in 1974 with Waterloo, money money money is quite fitting , at the height of their careers, they were earning more than Volvo and the king of Sweden put together
As of right now, I have 23 favorite bands. It takes a very long time before I am 100% sure that a band is one of my favorites, often decades. ABBA is one of my favorite bands.
Just adore ABBA….you could listen all night and not find a bad track. I love Knowing me knowing you, the day before you came and Eagle….all stunning. I’m a heavy metal fan but my buddies don’t know that ABBA is my favourite band lol… brings a tear to me eye when I’ve had a whisky!!!
Released in 1976, this song was so perfectly arranged, when it was included in the Mamma Mia stage musical, in 1999, and the Movie in 2008, the arrangement is virtually unchanged.
Theatrical and brilliant from Abba. The song The Day Before You Came next from Abba guys..if only for Frida's siren song on backing vocals .. You will be blown away.😮
Today Frida's official title is - Princess Anni-Frid Reuss, Dowager Countess of Plauen. The thing about ABBA is they took a swing at about every genre of music out there. And they polished that genre with ABBA perfection. I think thats why so many musicians have such respect for them.
Some years back, the British band Erasure did some quality Abba covers and released them on an EP called Abba-esque and then shortly after an Australian Abba tribute band called Bjorn Again, styled themselves on Abba and did some Erasure covers and called the EP, Erasure-ish. do "knowing me, knowing you." my favorite break up song b/c it's real, not overly melodramatic or all tears & rage but like adult breaking up "this isn't working anymore and we both need to walk away." and still with a kickass beat.
I was 15 when this came out. You can imagine how pleased I was when our new music teacher turned up, and she looked just like Anna. One of the best days of my life.
Was never really an ABBA fan until I saw Mama Mia on Broadway. After that, I became a fan. Money Money Money was probably my favorite song in the play. Thanks for reacting
When this song came on the radio in Australia, a lot of ABBA fans were shocked by how different it was and many were hesitant to like it. But after a while people slowly realized that it was actually a brilliant song and it went to number 1 on the charts anyway.
When are you going to listen to MOVE ON? I think you'd love it, the message in the lyrics, the instruments and definitely the vocals. Loved your deep dive into Money, Money, Money. Frida has a lovely tone to her voice, with great mid-range fullness. Move On by Abba ties in directly with your message of "everyday remember you're blessed..." it celebrates life and that we're all part of a bigger picture, not necessarily religous at all, but about the natural world and the passage of time, that we all travel through, over the course of our lives.
Good reaction! This is one of many great songs by ABBA, and it's good to see Anni-Frid at the forefront of this one, as it's usually Agnetha's vocals up front. Ironically, Anni-Frid did indeed get her "a wealthy man" - she married a Swiss prince, although sadly he died in 1999 but they had 7 years together. She's now with a British aristocrat, so she's obviously got a taste for the good living now! 😄
With nearly 400 million albums sold worldwide, 17 No. 1 hits and over 16 million weekly global streams, ABBA is one of the world's most successful music acts of all time. Ever since their breakthrough with “Waterloo” back in 1974, ABBA's music has captured the hearts of people all over the world. Their collection album ABBA Gold has been in the UK top 100 for over 1000 weeks and counting...
Just great. I really love Abba. The song that is the most complex is *The name of the game*. Absolutely impressive in composition and vocal implementation
One of ABBA's lesser known song, but probably one of their finest is "Eagle" - there is a short version and a long version. You can't go wrong with either version!
Christmas of 1980 I received a stereo and my first LP The Best of ABBA. I can sing along with every one of their songs. We would have ABBA if it wasn’t for Eurovision.
Regarding marrying "a rich man", in an unusual twist Anna-Frid became a very wealthy princess by marrying a Swiss prince from the ancient Swiss House of Reuss. She is also a countess
Frida did not need a man to get rich. It has been estimated that each member of ABBA owns at least $200 000 000.
@@klausolekristiansen2960 She also didn't write the song it was Bjorn and Benny
Fantastic you discover ABBA as being Americans.
They were massive and still are popular today. Incredible after 50 years

The "fifth member" of Abba Michael B Tretow had a lot to do with that.
@@gotham61 And a 'shout out' to Rutger Gunnarsson, who played bass on many of Abba's songs
The bass line here and overall arrangements are amazing.

“Dancing Queen”. That song is a MUST listen.
The Name of the Game is just brilliant composition and production!
"Eagle" which is a favourite of mine. is a good listen
ABBA , a small group from Sweden.. only approx. 500 million records sold.. LOL :D

1974 and that is correct. Their Eurovision contest win started their fame because nothing famous was supposed to come out of Sweden back then.
