That is funny but it is a video game. Imagine if there was a spot against the ropes in real life where you got caught in that matrix and buddy was playing ping pong with your ish. Would you be willing to put yourself in a boxing match of this video game style? Nothing but snap back head shots, with a series in the matrix.
By the early 90 it was a retro game already. My nephew played it for the first time as a kid just a few years ago so he may say in the future that this game reminds him of his childhood in the 2010's.
I remember going to someone's house and then having this in the early 90$ thinking to myself wow this shit is old lmao.He put this on and I was hooked.I also had an Atari in the early 80$
That was an intense match! White was ahead the whole time, but black caught up with some awesome combos. I always loved this game! So simple and tons of fun. Great animations too.
This actually looks like it plays a lot better than the other boxing games for these early systems. Even better than ColecoVision, Intellivision, and the other Atari systems. It's crazy what they did with only 4KB.
The black one on the right looks like an early Game & Watch character. And considering this was released in the same year as the Game & Watch line of games (1980) it can't be a coincidence.
I remember as a kid when the black opponent was faster because my dad sneakily clicked the button on the back of the Atari 2600, which raised the difficulty. I cried like a baby back bitch because I couldn't win a match to save my life for a couple of weeks.
Tenía 8 años aproximadamente y jugaba esto con mi padre . Ahora mismo con 37 años estoy hablando con mi padre y recordando cuando en el pasado jugamos esto . Cuantas cosas han sucedido de ese momento ?
As with most games on the Atari, you spend a few hours figuring out the pattern, then you try to maximize your pattern until you're ready to move on to the next game.
@MrStopmotion88 The Atari's graphics were brilliant, one of the things that really stood out was it's captivating use of colour, this helped to spark your imagination. When I look back I can't believe the spectrum took over, the Atari was much better!
I remember seeing this as a little kid (3 or 4 years old) and not knowing what the hell i was looking at. Of course, now I realize it is just an overhead view of the boxers. Back then they looked like some kind of alien, mutant, seahorses. Kind of creepy looking.
I had pinned White to win. White had more style, and had a vicious start when he had black against the ropes. Black was a brawler, but really got the hang of it and came into his own at the end with a late point scoring rush, but in the end, White was too cunning and scored a winning punch. Great match!
Bro...first sports game that I ever had in my life for my 2600. I got bored and put the difficulty level up, and that black dude came out the corner and gave me a beatdown the first couple of times.
Remember playin this with my mates for hours on end when I was a kid! If ya pinned em against the ropes ya could just keep pummeling them and there was nothin they could do, and was hilarious hahaha....ohh the memories :)
I figured this out. you hook up the atari's output to a vcr's coax input, hook the vcr's coax output to the tv and the output rca to a game recorder such as an easycap, etc.
still a better fight than Mayweather vs Mcgregor

And a little tear comes from my eye...such a lovely memory...early 90´s with just 6 year old playing this masterpiece against my sister.

Yeah I was gonna say I was playing this in the early 80s. lol

@@CCQ75 Classics never die! At least the quality ones.
That was an intense match! White was ahead the whole time, but black caught up with some awesome combos. I always loved this game! So simple and tons of fun.
Great animations too.
Crazy.. I'm sitting here watching white open a huge lead then start to cheer when black makes a comeback.. That was awesome
Have to say that black was slow with his right/higher fist
He still got his butt kicked 😂😂😂
One of the simplest yet most immersive games ever created.
My father and I used to play this and I would cry everytime I was losing...lol. ah, great memories!
Man, i remember this! I was a little boy though, but i loved playing the ATARI! This was my go to game :-D
This actually looks like it plays a lot better than the other boxing games for these early systems. Even better than ColecoVision, Intellivision, and the other Atari systems. It's crazy what they did with only 4KB.
I had this as a child, one of my favourites. Thank you got the memories
That one time in 1980 where there was a boxing match between Mr. Game and Watch and Geodude…
The black one on the right looks like an early Game & Watch character. And considering this was released in the same year as the Game & Watch line of games (1980) it can't be a coincidence.
What's this? Geodude fighting Mr. Game And Watch in the middle of a baseball field?
Geodude called the Game & Watch outdated.
Shyguymask yes it is, before Pokémon Geodude was a boxer! So was Game and Watch before the Game and Watch series electronic hand held games
Wait... Shyguymask? What are you doing here lol
Not really.
One time, my friend said this game was the ancestor of Punch Out! and ARMS.
I always thought they looked like two ovaries fighting.
Thank God I'm not the only one. I never recognized that they were people from top view lol.
Two geodudes shit
Damn you, now I cant unsee it.
Wow!!! Brings back the memories when I was a kid, awesome
Damn, we are all pushing 40 now....
Used to love getting those combinations. Very satisfying. So simple but a great game.
Geodude in a baseball field fights Mr Game and Watch
What is this? Geodude fighting Mr Game and Watch in the middle of a baseball field?

So, the last time I bought an Activision game was 30+ years ago..
Jake Paul Vs. Mike Tyson
I remember as a kid when the black opponent was faster because my dad sneakily clicked the button on the back of the Atari 2600, which raised the difficulty. I cried like a baby back bitch because I couldn't win a match to save my life for a couple of weeks.
"Baby Back Bitch" is now my favorite phrase.
Uno de los mejores juegos de Atari.
Better than KOF
Jake Paul Vs. Mike Tyson (2024)
Damn, i remember playing this as a kid in 2 player Mode.
I was hooked on this game 40 years ago.
Fond childhood memories from the 80's. I particularly liked cornering the opponent and beating the $hit out of him.
Tenía 8 años aproximadamente y jugaba esto con mi padre . Ahora mismo con 37 años estoy hablando con mi padre y recordando cuando en el pasado jugamos esto . Cuantas cosas han sucedido de ese momento ?
Proof you don't need screaming effects, blue balls, and gore for an intense battle!
This game was awesome, back in the day. Spent many hours playing :)
I remember playing this exact game on my atari when i was a very young kid in the early half of the 80s
Geodude vs Mr Game and Watch
Before Punch Out, there was Atari Boxing. I remember playing this with my father on a real Atari.
BESTES VIDEO EVER! Spannung bis zum Schluss!
As with most games on the Atari, you spend a few hours figuring out the pattern, then you try to maximize your pattern until you're ready to move on to the next game.
Looks like a couple of fidget spinners got all bent out of shape and decided to duke it out.
Burt Sampson your right
1:13 6 piece combo
This is still good to play...along with decathalon. This fight was exciting!!! lol
decathlon was amazing if got blisters to prove it
Once you got the rhythm established, it was curtains for
the opposing boxer. Just bang, bang, bang, bang non-
stop until you reached 100.
@MrStopmotion88 The Atari's graphics were brilliant, one of the things that really stood out was it's captivating use of colour, this helped to spark your imagination. When I look back I can't believe the spectrum took over, the Atari was much better!
This was my first sports game. I was 4.
Remember the days of great games like this? Neither do I.

@MrStopmotion88 indeed i had tons of fun playing this game as a kid.this was the bomb back in the day brings back a lot of memories.
Com certeza este é o melhor jogo de luta do atari.
Dem next gen graphics though :O
Look at all those body punches!
I just now realized after decades of not knowing, these are boxers seen from a birds eye view, not number 3’s fighting
WOW what an epic game. Thanks for reminding me of this, and thanks for the epic gameplay here!
Aún recuerdo mi primer juego de atari, que recuerdos😢
ARCADE GAMES DE ATARI?
EL DE BOX ,UNO DE MIS VIDEOJUEGOS FAVORITOS.
ESE ES EL PUNTO(20)
What an exciting fight!
I remember seeing this as a little kid (3 or 4 years old) and not knowing what the hell i was looking at. Of course, now I realize it is just an overhead view of the boxers. Back then they looked like some kind of alien, mutant, seahorses. Kind of creepy looking.
It is still fun to gather some friends and play it while drinking beer!
I had pinned White to win. White had more style, and had a vicious start when he had black against the ropes. Black was a brawler, but really got the hang of it and came into his own at the end with a late point scoring rush, but in the end, White was too cunning and scored a winning punch. Great match!
The combos at 1:16 by black where impressive
It’s Geodude fighting Mr. Game and Watch in a baseball field :3
I want that game.
I’ll buy me one next time I’m at Hard Copies.
The very first fighting game in existence.

Bro...first sports game that I ever had in my life for my 2600. I got bored and put the difficulty level up, and that black dude came out the corner and gave me a beatdown the first couple of times.
I used to play this game a lot.
2 Kilobytes. 2 thousand characters. You'll read some posts with more data than some Atari games, but this one sure nails the bytes:fun ratio.
I used to play this with my mother, I was 7 she was 23
wow his face goes in that pretty good for its time
me and my bro end up real fighting when we played this. apparently I was a cheater.
this was more exciting than real boxing these days

1:13 My kid brother would start shouting once I got him stuck in one of these combos.
Geodude vs Mr Game and Watch fighting on a baseball field?

this game makes me feel bad for rooting for either side.
Playing at home, during adolescence!

What is this? Geodude fighting against Mr. Game and Watch Dude in the middle of the baseball field.
Mark Vincent Lim yes
Úteros peleando!!!
Si que Atari estaba adelantada a su tiempo
Is this game on the Atari flashback 8 gold?
First great boxing game
I watched this entire fight and i swear it was a fix. =D
I was the master of this game. Gonna fly now.
Remember playin this with my mates for hours on end when I was a kid!
If ya pinned em against the ropes ya could just keep pummeling them and there was nothin they could do, and was hilarious hahaha....ohh the memories :)
Yes that trick broke joysticks. You can get out if you move the stick quickly like decathlon. This game is a masterpiece !
DEMPSEY ROLL!!!!!!!!! *announcers rising voice*
Best boxing game ever.
Was I the only one who played this game imagining it was Rocky Balboa vs Apollo Creed or Mr. T?
how did you record gameplay from a freakin atari?!
I figured this out. you hook up the atari's output to a vcr's coax input, hook the vcr's coax output to the tv and the output rca to a game recorder such as an easycap, etc.
he are using the emulator. I think
Nostalgic
Rocky vs Apollo
