You know I’ve always had a distaste for writing essays, the act of spending a good one too two hours of my life scribbling down seemingly meaningless text on a subject I couldn’t care less for. However it would seem, as I type this comment out at 2:00 AM, that there is far more to the art of such literature that I never knew could bring me to feel so inspired.
La Rubric you truly are a man with no equal in bringing out the greatest in something that I always thought was just supposed to be another assignment and I can truly feel that you genuinely enjoy bringing your work to light. After all who would spend so many hours of there time creating something so great only for it to reach so few if they didn’t love doing it?
And speaking of love, is there no greater love than that we share with our brothers in arms?
Humor me for a moment. I believe that one of the greatest feelings that can be had in gaming is that of shared comradeship and honor. That feeling of delving into some baron hell scape knowing the odds are stacked against you but charging in anyways because you know that your friends have got your back. The feeling of being apart of something greater and being apart of it together. The feeling of having the time of your life and knowing you got to share it with someone, even if they’re a damn internet goblin. And from foxhole to Chivalry 2 I believe you know this feeling, and despite how much you've written against these often toxic communities and despite just how much they’ve wronged you I think you love it just as much as I do.
La Rubric I may just be another chronically online internet goblin to you, I likely wouldn’t see myself any other way twere I in your position. But I believe that I should share with you the chance to bring ever more of that joy into your life by sharing one of my now most beloved games, (and now because I can’t think of a good fuckin Segway into this part) have you ever heard of Deep Rock Galactic? ……………… you know, Maybe I should’ve payed more attention in English class after all. In all seriousness though I BEG you to play this game I’ve never had so much fun with a FPS in my life and umm, maybe we could get a video for it too? Pretty please? Oh wow! Thank you so much for this comment, I didn't expect anything like this at all. I really do enjoy making these videos, you're right, and that should always be the primary motivation for making anything. If you try and make videos on here for the money or for the infamy, you'll end up sad and disappointed. It's an extremely competitive platform and not everything can be noticed all the time. That's just the way it is!
I really appreciate your support and I am very thankful for the time you've taken to write this. Not only is this one of the nicest messages I've had the pleasure of reading in my comments, it also became the one of the funniest when I eventually realised it was a partially a long-form poetic request for me to play DRG (a surprisingly common ask from people that watch me). I've got a bunch of other stuff organised in the pipeline for now but DRG is something I'll look into!

Seriously though thank you for all the good work you do for us, I cannot emphasize how great the feeling is to find such a gem of digital literature on the internet nowadays. Let alone have its creator actually respond in such a heartfelt way to something I never expected to see the light of day. I agree with this review, and although I do not play duel servers, team objective matches can be very similar as well. One thing I noticed is that the chat is either dead or fun, but about 10 to 15 percent of the time, it is extremely angry and toxic. I don't get why people live lives of anger. Aside from that, I think Chiv is one of the best games out right now, and I have been playing it since the Galencourt update, and it can be consistently fun when it is not toxic.
I've played a couple TO games and sometimes, yeah, you get some very competitive people who take it too seriously. TO with people who mess around is peak multiplayer experience.

as far as i can tell the mordhau community isn't much different except they can host their own servers
i once saw a server in the official server list titled "minorities not welcome" etc etc. though that one was quite memorable

yesterday i was down on the ground and for some reason, a teammate kept trying to kill me but another random teammate came to my rescue and got in between myself and the attacker and eventually chased him off. There are some good people who play. I hope that dude is safe and happy wherever he is.

never understood why some people give toxic players this much attention, the best course of action is to ignore them and move on, because whatever your reaction may be, theyll still keep doing what theyre doing like they HAVE been doing for so long

Honestly your points on moderation are the biggest reasons I dont play these types of games anymore. Every time I've played one of these historic warfare games I've seen so many egregiously horrible people that it just sucks the fun out. I just wanna swing swords, not get into fights with racists.
This is the crux of my issue, too. Such a fantastic fighting game and its just squandered cos so many of the players are extremely hostile and awful.
ive been playing alot of chiv 2 lately, and i just laugh at the toxic players, playing with friends helps alot
Good video! I had more or less good experience on duel servers, most of them are good guys who want to practice and I have made some familiar 'faces', on about the same level, because dueling with a clan sweater is more or less useless, as is beating noobs, who cant even faint. ... but there was 2 or 3 times, when somebody was running arround jabbing, kicking players.. and if somebody kicked him back, then 5 of his friends targeted me (or anybody else), so I switched servers.
The smug republic guy seems to be slovenian. Stedilnik means stove and hladilnik means fridge :)

I am staring across the aisle from the Mordhau side, its much the same. My friends enjoy the shenanigans in chat but I found Mordhau's community to be too offputting often enough that I just turned off chat.
If you ever have an inkling for a slightly altered melee combat, and maybe slightly more customisation without the class system its a good time. Though I dont know that its quite as polished as chivalry 2, or has as much of a bevy of options for sillyness, but a decent amount. At least some different ways to be silly.

I have been made aware many a time about Mordhau's current state in regards to the playerbase and I have been hesitant to purchase for both this reason and because Crush (one of the devs) is a manchild. It's really embarassing. The only thing that really makes me want to play it is the customisation honestly because it is far more in-depth and configurable than Chivalry's. There was meant to be a very brief section at the end about why I haven't touched Mordhau but I cut that just for the last part.
I may get it to try it out as it is very cheap on G2A. Thank you for this comment!

Tbh, while the whole video is very interesting, it feels like it should've been split in two parts.
When hearing you talk about one case study of toxicity in duel servers (a quite specific section of the game in its own right), i feld rather disconnected from the first half of the video.
Both topics are really interesting. They just don't really belong together tbh.

I still play Chivalry 2 and enjoy it, but I completely agree with pretty much everything you said in this review. I likely wont stop playing the game anytime soon, I myself as a console player cant see the chat (and I never play game modes like duels, or 3v3 or stuff like that because I simply don't see those game modes as fun or enjoyable.) Great video though, you got a subscriber.
I'm on the eastern part of the world, and by that I mean Asia, most of the duel servers are mostly chill unless you just be a dick and play archer and don't flourish then everyone will just rush you but mostly everyone is chill and only some people get mad because because they went up to a lvl 800+, duel, and die and then rage quit, but it's mostly cool.
Respectfully, I have spent hundreds of hours in duels and I agree with what you are saying but I have never experienced the levels of toxicity that you have. Most good players in the OCE region are respectful, if someone were to ffa and votekick someone after losing a duel, I would not hesitate to warn every player I know and attempt to ban them.
That being said in recent times there have been some repeat offenders - people who go as far as accusing me of breaking rules after ffaing and clip baiting.
It is not to say that vile individuals are completely absent, but more that they become ostracised by the tight-knit community.

In what region do you play? I got experience with EU duel server and gotta say most of the time the time spended there is very fun and pleasent.

What is your IGN? Its sad to hear about your bad experiences abiut the comunity. I got mostly good experiences(except the ffa guys) and many of the really good players even helped me a lot of times with some techniques and so on
