Hopefully this is one of those videos that "blows up", as they say. You've eloquently expressed what I could never put into words, even the aspects of the game that I didn't know I subconsciously appreciated. That especially goes for the art direction and its diversity, although I disagree with the statement that it doesn't need more detail. The environments can occasionally feel... flat, I guess, like there could always be more in the interiors themselves, little imperfections here and there, more than just the wallpapers and decor. But I digress. The pacing is great, the chapters flow between one another seamlessly, the jokes always land and don't feel too disruptive. A very well-put together video. The community shoutout at the end is especially appreciated. Though I can't believe I've been relegated to a Twitch viewer after all the work done 🙁 Funny how that works, though. Here I was, feeling like watching a random stream of a game I'm hyperfixating about, and years later the butterfly effect leads to this. Such is life, working in mysterious ways.
Thank you for taking the time to write this great response. In a similar way to how I've made you aware of things you didn't acknowledge consciously until now, the details of the environments didn't occur to me up until this comment. You're right, some stuff feels a bit TOO empty, and it would be nice to have locales more detailed to reflect what they are. Thank you for the kind words, I'm glad you enjoyed, and it's truly great that a game like Deadbolt can make community connections like this even almost a decade after its debut!
Great video. Deadbolt's definitely a game that ticks all the boxes for me, from gameplay and level design, to aesthetics and sound, to thematics and lore. It may not necessarily need a sequel, but it sure as hell deserves one, and I'd definitely be the last to complain about such an announcement. You covered all the topics well and had an impressive array of family guy funny moments to break up the serious discussion.
My god I'm so happy I decided to scroll through the Deadbolt subreddit and found this. One of my new favorite videos on RUclips. Though I will add that I don't think the Reaper doesn't care about what they have, they simply have what Ibzan always needed, creature comforts, companionship, something to come back to.
Thank you for the comment! I interpret the Reaper as not caring for what they have or, at the very least, not nearly as much as Ibzan would have. Ibzan sought companionship and comfort and was given none yet the Reaper, who gets everything Ibzan wants, is purely focused on their job and only ever talks with the Flames within the purview of their work.
@@larubricNo, thank you for the content. You've got a sub. And I think your right tbh. If you lean into the cyclical irony aspect especially, then it makes a lot of sense.
You can't imagine how pleasing it is to open up youtube and see a deadbolt review in my subscription feed. By the way, a little while ago, when hopoo sold risk of rain's IP to gearbox, they mentionned they were working on new project*s*. I don't know if we'll get a sequel to deadbolt, but i do know that hopoo is out there cooking up something new. And a game built around hopoo's writing and creativity, blessed by Chris's musics (hopefully) will always have a place in my steam library.
I am so pleased that people make great videos about this very niche, kinda overshadowed but also underappreciated gem of a game. The story and the world building are so strong and captivating, the core mechanics are simple yet satisfying, the editor allows for a great variety and creativity. I just love this game, so much so that I actually made a text based online RPG with friends some years ago, and it took very little tweaking of the original story. I hope this and other great videos of your are going to get picked up by algorithm, you deserve so much more.
Thank you for talking about your grievances with realistic graphics in video games, and how it inevitably makes every game look generic and identical to all its competitors. As usual, you are able to put things into words that I was never quite able to express as eloquently as you are able to.
I can't believe someone would try and implement a fucking modded f*rry gang faction into my DEADBOLT (2016) smdh... anyway so i recently made a really buff werewolf enemy-
the time limited mission is the one i grinded so much , just to suceed , i had every frame planned out in advance every godamm moove in a flowtchart . happines
