it is always my theory that the move auto reset when transfer for the newer games is partly due to no guard fissure machamp. it is because of machamp that virtual console are specifically in HA. it is because of machamp that hidden ability cannot be swapped to normal abilities. partly because of one pokemon, it is restricting the others too, many pokemon would love the ability change. and now they finally give in and make hidden ability swappable, but they still do not add machamp in. they are running out of ways to stop machamp. so best is to reset the moveset so they dont have to worry about it in the future, but loophole still exist such as pointed out in the video thus machamp is still not in SV.
Just make OHKO moves ignore no guard like they ignore accuracy/evasion modifiers. Seems like the simplest thing to do to fix that stupid combo while not affecting literally anything else, and it should even be easy to code.
Yep, they prevented this from being used in tournaments, but it was entirely possible. I left with Dexit so I don't know if it will get past checks. You could transfer it to gen 5, but I don't know if you could get it to 6. I know 6-7 blocks most glitch transfers, but if this is now legal it might work? Has anyone tried?
No Guard Machamp is not even that good, at least for VGC, in a format with Flutter Mane, Tornadus, Follow Me Ogerpon and Urshifu Water everywhere this is just an easy to counter boring gimmick.
This inspired me to make my own with Stantler and Golurk in doubles; Stantler is pretty tanky with eviolite and intimidate, and you can Roleplay / Skill Swap Golurks No Guard to whatever other teammate by turn 2 if you want, usually Ting Liu for me
Not sure if this is entirely relevant, but the RUclipsr Goppier made a miraculous machine that allows the Gen 2 to Gen 3 trade, thus allowing the combination to exist in games that have No Guard (gen 4 onwards) however if pokemon bank detects an illegal move such as fissure it won’t allow it to pass through. No Guard Fissure Machamp is possible if you can make the initial trade, but only in Gens 4 & 5 for now. Oh, and make sure that the first trade is with a Machop, the way ability structures work makes it that evolving a Machop family member from Gen 3 in a Gen 4 game gives it a 50/50 chance of having No Guard. So if you trade a Machamp or Machoke (which evolves immediately on trade and can’t be cancelled) and transfer it to gen 4, it’s stuck with having Guts. One other thing I’d like to mention, BDSP glitches exist. I have a Machoke that has all available OHKO moves that was gotten menu glitches. It’s illegal to use online but it is there and it’s awesome

I wish you would do some walkthroughs on your favorite games. You seem to have so much more love for all the little things it would be great to see and hear how you really just play these games.
Whenever I see Machamp all I think of is No Guard+Dynamic Punch. It was the lead in the first team I ever built after learning of Smogon. Looking back I think I was using it wrong, but I think it seemed useful precisely because of that since I caught my enemies off guard by making the move that seemed too dumb for anyone to use.
The opponent can just switch. You're better off just spamming Sheer Cold without Mind Reader, you're giving the opponent a free move on the Mind Reader turns.
The new moveset transfer rules piss me off so much. Not because of Machamp specific, but because of every legacy mon in general and the loss of identity it causes. Preventing Pokémon outside of regional dexs from being transferred was bad enough, removing older moves from the code and rendering them unusable in gameplay was bad enough, but outright deleting the moves and replacing them with a generic set is even worse. Yes, I get that it helps level the field for competitive play, eliminating the need to own multiple decades old games, to get those unusual combinations, but their could have been better ways to do it. Let the Pokémon keep their unique sets and just flag anything that couldn't be acquired in the current game as invalid for online play.
I was rematching the Heartgold Elite 4 recently and Bruno having a No Guard Machamp with Dynamic Punch and Stone Edge made it very difficult. His team was nearly Level 70 though.
This literally already is a thing. It’s just takes some setup. Ability swap mew plus no guard machamp. It’s even better too since fissure doesn’t hit flying types, and the mew can also run other OHKO moves to hit them.
To be fair, No Guard Machamp with Fissure would absolutely warp the meta around itself in an unhealthy way. Everything would have to either get around it or facilitate it.
Or just ban it to AG. Besides those are unofficial, arbitrary metas outside of the real games. Giving us a legal way to obtain no guard fissure Machamp would be amazing for many players.
The fun hating jerks over at Smogon have already banned OHKO moves so we can't unfortunately can't use it in that format. If you're talking about VGC then, well, it's VGC so they won't ban anything at the risk of harming their brand image. It is a doubles format though so you can probably just gang up on Machamp since it's really slow and doesn't have the best defensive profile.
@@ShadowXeldronOHKO moves aren't healthy for the game as a whole. I mean Smogon had to ban it, it's just too uncompetitive in nature. You literally invalidate Pokemon's type chart (bar Flying) along with the concept of a defense stat, and guarantee an OHKO upon any defensive wall switching in on Machamp.
Tbh I don't think it would be that strong. Anything that can outspeed and OHKO Machamp or any good flying type completely nullifies its gimmick. Not to say it wouldn't be a strong option but it's a linear, easiely countered strategy even without changing the current meta. Would fare even worse in VGC where it can easily be ganged up on

I once managed to fulfil the dream in Pixelmon. It was amazing! Not gamepaly wise, but the satisfaction was incredible. In practical terms, Flying types were still a problem, as well as fast Psychic and Fairy types which could outspeed and one shot, plus many tough battles were set up with competition clauses like equal level, no bag items, and no OHKO. It was still really fun though to have!

Gen 3 fire red/ leaf green, emerald and colloseum machops could learn mimic via move tutor. I believe in gen 4 when a machoke from gen 3 evolved there was a chance to gain the new ability ( no guard) thus a possible doubles ability to gain it.

Its so funny that a single choice to give 1 Pokemon one move made over 25 years ago is single-handedly causing so much trouble for the devs responsible for making the transfer tools.

it is always my theory that the move auto reset when transfer for the newer games is partly due to no guard fissure machamp. it is because of machamp that virtual console are specifically in HA. it is because of machamp that hidden ability cannot be swapped to normal abilities. partly because of one pokemon, it is restricting the others too, many pokemon would love the ability change. and now they finally give in and make hidden ability swappable, but they still do not add machamp in. they are running out of ways to stop machamp. so best is to reset the moveset so they dont have to worry about it in the future, but loophole still exist such as pointed out in the video thus machamp is still not in SV.
he is inevitable
Just make OHKO moves ignore no guard like they ignore accuracy/evasion modifiers.
Seems like the simplest thing to do to fix that stupid combo while not affecting literally anything else, and it should even be easy to code.
Any flying type: "I'm about to end this man's whole career."
If only Machamp could use a powerful Rock-type move and also had a way to bypass that hypothetical move's low accuracy.

Nothing the good old mimic rage glitch can't fix.
@@professorhaystacks6606 I just assume bank would block it but I never tried.
@@professorhaystacks6606 It isn't a legal move as of gen 5, so no it won't pass
If they made Fissure a TM again, Machamp would be able to get it and No Guard, but I doubt they’d do that
The real reason why they don't want us to use No Guard Fissure Machamp is because then we'd have Pokedex Lore Accurate Machamp in our teams.
Barry really do be a philosopher
No Guard Machamp is not even that good, at least for VGC, in a format with Flutter Mane, Tornadus, Follow Me Ogerpon and Urshifu Water everywhere this is just an easy to counter boring gimmick.
fissure? i hardly know 'er!
babe wake up new droomish upload
This inspired me to make my own with Stantler and Golurk in doubles; Stantler is pretty tanky with eviolite and intimidate, and you can Roleplay / Skill Swap Golurks No Guard to whatever other teammate by turn 2 if you want, usually Ting Liu for me
I hear your civ noises you snuck in there ;)
Great video, I hope the Machamp dream comes alive one day
It will only be possible if they don't lock trade-back entirely
It’s illegal to use online but it is there and it’s awesome
i very much enjoy trolling with a hail, aurora veil, mind reader, sheer cold articuno
Nice but Ice types will have full immunity to this. Sheer Cold wont affect them so I always have Ancient Power handy

It was so good that I knew to start fast forwarding before it even started.
Literally got wrecked by a no guard skill swap combo on ladder the other night in vgc..
They figured it out! 😏 Next time use Sturdy ability. It blocks OKHO moves
0:45 iirc the accuracy goes up by 1 for every level higher you are agenst the opponent but will never hit if they are higher than you
Nvm it was shown 2 secs later
Ill stick with my mind reader and sheer cold combo
The opponent can just switch. You're better off just spamming Sheer Cold without Mind Reader, you're giving the opponent a free move on the Mind Reader turns.
No Guard Fissure Is Basically "For His Neutral Special, He Wields A GUN"
Politoad can still use mind reader & fissure, as well ninetails alola has role play and sheer cold
That forbidden combo would be way too OP. I used to think of it too years ago, but came to the conclusion that it would be way too unfair.
Yeah because flying mons and levitate and mons that outspeed don't exist
@@ryanbob Well, there's Speed Boost Ninjask.
@HyperDragoonHx I was not expecting your reply to be even worse than your original comment, congratulations you're dumber than I even thought.
They destroyed all my nuzlocke teams' movesets, every one of them, from Ruby all the way up. Fixing movesets is a chore.
The Mind Reader/Sheer Cold combo was enough to make me train an Articuno in Gen 3.
I was rematching the Heartgold Elite 4 recently and Bruno having a No Guard Machamp with Dynamic Punch and Stone Edge made it very difficult. His team was nearly Level 70 though.
I am SURROUNDED by beauty when Droomish is uploading this frequently.

I've been playing Civ 5 so much late;y that several of the sound effects from this video made me double check to see if the game was running
This literally already is a thing. It’s just takes some setup. Ability swap mew plus no guard machamp. It’s even better too since fissure doesn’t hit flying types, and the mew can also run other OHKO moves to hit them.
I am very happy to have found your channel. You make just the kind of videos that I really enjoy watching.
If the battle frontier existed still…he would live on Tuber Timmy’s team a match away from the Frontier Brain.
Machamp sturdy like Pop Smoke
Would fare even worse in VGC where it can easily be ganged up on
ghosts are immune to horn drill and ice types are immune to sheer cold@@Hello-There917
I understand you mean fissure specifically but you're saying all ohko moves are bad so you gotta acknowledge that there's immunities to the other ones lmao
Someone made a chip that lets you transfer from gen 1 to 2. It is possible and will always be possible, and as soon as he sells those chips, everyone can get fissure no guard machamp.
There's a guide floating around on how to make 'em even. That is rather a lot of trouble.

Gen 3 fire red/ leaf green, emerald and colloseum machops could learn mimic via move tutor. I believe in gen 4 when a machoke from gen 3 evolved there was a chance to gain the new ability ( no guard) thus a possible doubles ability to gain it.
Fuck yeah new Droomish shenanigans
Honestly, we just need the Fissure MT/Tutor. But we'll never ever see a game with both that and No-Guard Champ

I’ve seen someone make a thing that crosses the divide between gen 2 and 3, so technically it’s possible, but not with official hardware.
This video is great and all, but mind reader and sheer cold is possible on articuno in gen 3 and by level up
PKHex: wait I've been doing this combo for ages why are you saying it's forbidden?
Misconception: trading between Gen 2 and 3 is technically possible. But Gamefreak didn’t want to develop the software to do so. Some RUclips channel I can’t remember the name of even did his own version of it with a bit of a more high tech solution but it was always technically possible.
Granted you’d probably be stuck with Guts.
What about Lock-on +OHKO move? Smeargle can learn anything via sketch
Its so funny that a single choice to give 1 Pokemon one move made over 25 years ago is single-handedly causing so much trouble for the devs responsible for making the transfer tools.

My man got me thinking i had civilization v open
Couldn’t you use XD gale of darkness to transfer physical gen 1/2 games to 3?
The game can only connect to gen3 games, not gen2 as it's a gamecube game
If No Guard Machamp became meta, Sheer Cold Articuno could certainly be a counter
I’ve always wondered about this. Glad the question has been thoroughly answered.
I’ve heard No Guard doesn’t actually buff insta kill moves from Facebook comments.
lol "facebook comments".
Yeah no no guard affects OHKO moves.
Ah yes, the perfect strategy to win kaizo ironmon in gen 4
I'm surprised no one has mentioned mega pidgeot and hurricane
Why would anyone mention that? Always accurate hurricanes are nice and easily possible in rain, but nowhere near as busted as always accurate OHKO moves that can only be prevented by protect and cohorts or levitating/flying type pokémon.
Golurk should be able to learn Fissure
Honestly I'm impressed that gamefreak is so hell bent on preventing the one hit combo from happening
Someday, Machamp will rise to OU. With or without No Guard Fissure!!
