For Geode farming, I agree with just ticking this off the list, and if someone actually wants to use the materials then they can build the rest of them.
I've just been blocking wither skulls with cobble generators but that bubble column setup is hilarious to watch

I think it would be really interesting to see a scicraft/sci-blitz type server on bedrock edition. It would be cool to see the scicrafters have to adapt to the big differences between Java and bedrock. Also it would be crazy to see what they could do with features like trident-killers and portal ticking gold farms.

I could really use a tutorial on that 167 minute clock...
It's just two (etho) hopper clocks chained together with the right amount of items to make them that time. Basically evertime the first hopper clock runs through all it's items it activates shortly the second hopper clock. There should be even an online math program that tells you how many items you need for both clocks. Just Google it. Or you do the math yourself, for example if the first clock has enough items to switch over every 3 minutes, you need 20 items in the second clock to make it 1 hour.

they'll probably build a turtle-based bowl farm before working on the geode farm

It doesn't suck, it just isn't made in a way that allows for easy automation. I think it's kinda cool how difficult it is to make a decent geode farm.
@@fontajo I'm with you on that. It's cool and unique, which makes it extra interesting. But part of me wishes it was like ice pre 1.3, when you couldn't silk touch it, but you could push it with a piston. On my world the nearest geode will be minimum 2000+ blocks away. To bring it closer would still be a trek, but I'd still be able to farm it reasonably. I don't like afking for hours at some random location, I prefer working on my base whilst my farms run. So I am a little biased with that opinion on piston pushing them
@@sakikogookheng Something SliceLime found out (although he's the Java tech lead he doesn't know everything) is that Honey and Slime blocks won't stick to budding amethyst. I'm thinking it may be possible to use slime/honey/flying machines to create a sort of moving mask or filter. I don't actually play much Minecraft anymore though so I'm hoping someone else will take my idea and try it (I prefer multi-player but the only time I can really play is on the weekends and even that's limited).
I started a server with my co-workers the same day as them and we're almost caught up to day 1!
tbf a lot of the scicrafters don't have day jobs afaik
@wrn beltran I mean I don't stalk them so I don't know for sure. At least mango does youtube (ie minecraft) full time. I'm sure at least some of them do have normal jobs (probably many in IT/software as you said) but I don't know how many. I think some of them are also university students and unless they have summer jobs they would be free until september as well.

Hey mango! I am loving the SciCraft Blitz' insane progress, and it has been very wonderful to watch everything and everyone work in unison to create these truly awesome machines.
That got me thinking: for my education I was also reading Sutton & Barto's 'Reinforcement Learning' and found the book structure to be quite cool where all these 'building blocks' for the different Machine Learning algorithms are outlined per paragraph, and every chapter is a different class of algorithms. Since you and the SciCraft server are, as the name implies, scientific minecrafters: perhaps it would be really cool to make a series of mini-videos where, per video, you build and explain a single machine 'building block', like a shulker box loader, the item filter, etc. Perhaps discuss some variations of it for different applications, show one working in bigger machines, leave a schematic in the description and maybe leave the viewer with a mini-redstone-building-challenge. I know you can find many designs by searching the internet, but they are all in different formats, for different versions, or not optimal, not the most compact, etc. Making such a video would take no time at all, since these 'building blocks' are all quite simple to you, and take no time at all to build. It would be so cool to see an Ilmango/Scicraft research archive/scientific book of redstone 'building blocks'.

PS: I also know you have a Redstone Basics playlist, but that one is really outdated: since then your video quality, and the number of different ways of making farms (and items to make farms for) have both drastically increased.

I like the idea, but "making such a video would take no time at all" is just plain wrong. As you said, making multiple variations, then also making (or at the very least partially explaining) bigger machines to show where/how the building blocks work together, thinking of a redstone challenge and creating a schematic is quite a bit of work. And don't forget about editing and rendering, they (can) take up a bunch of time!
And on top of all that, I'm pretty sure Ilmango is a busy man so it might not be doable.
All that said, I do actually like the idea and would love to see it, I just think you should be a bit more realistic in what you are asking for and also how longs stuff takes.
@@Mister0Eel I agree, I should have worded it as 'could take no time at all', since the creator can shave off whatever they don't want to invest time in of course. The format I proposed was just a proposal, a sketch. I said it like this since I think most, if not all of the SciCraft members can create and adapt these modular 'building blocks' pretty much blindly. The thing on showing it in a bigger machine could also just be: Look, here it is on the SciCraft server.
And, of course I respect the fact that this is not a 15-minute thing, but it should take a fair bit less than designing the most optimal and compact version of a huge farm for a tutorial that you would then have to make a larger script for, with more editing, etc. Nevertheless, I know it would not be nothing. That's why I ended with: "Do what you want with the idea, its yours now"

Hol' up ... doesn't "daily uploads" mean that there is an upload every day? So if you watch one a day, when you wake up, there is always one to watch, regardless of the time zone.

This series has been awesome. I've always enjoyed building your and others contraptions. But I started designing stuff on my own inspired by this and its been soooooo much more fun. Thanks for giving me endless fun and frustration!

I'm pretty sure with scicraft being scicraft, they can write a program that extracts the optimum amount of amethyst given bud configuration
I’m pretty sure they’re just using a known maths equation but a program where you input the configuration made by someone wouldn’t surprised
I'm a programmer... This problem is NOT a trivial thing to solve. It's very complex
Automatic farms are slower than pickaxe. Best way is to set a timer and just go fortune the thing

Not sure how you'd even approach a problem like this, to be honest. I guess you start with some invariants (every side needs a piston, every piston needs power) and go from there, but... yeah, no idea what that actually looks like in a program

For amethyst geodes would work doing with mine cars with afk player using fortune aiming up, you can only mine to faces of the block.
I think everyone agrees that geodes farms suck. The building sucks and the rates suck. It sucks overall but the blocks are good looking sooo.... we need it...

I have a bit of an idea for a geode farm but it is pretty boring. The idea is to have a player with a fortune pick travel around in a minecart looking at a specific angle and traveling around to hit each of the buds. Since there are multiple geodes maybe the player could travel to each in a minecart and hit all the buds. The player would have a full inventory so that they didn’t pick up any of the drops and they would fall into a collection system. Then at some point a dispenser could drop more fortune picks to the player if they break one. Not sure on the exact design but I think it would give you much more amethyst.
The cobble/basalt/etc farm with the switches just blew my mind. You guys are too smart.

Using fortune on geodes is really nice
Immediate future bought for efficiency is splitting the geode into multiple timers so you can time segments to the most efficient time instead of the whole farm. I may have to do some maths
That and now if there’s a or any way to manipulate random ticks
I was thinking about modes earlier for potentially aligning the player for the stages too. However, fortune, there could be fortune mode. Question is if the regular mode’s pistons and blocks pushed can be made and also attached to the flying machines so the area can be transformed. Hmm.
Also I meant separate ones with each geode, not even just treating each geode separately but further sub setting. Probably per block config so 1x2 will have a different timer to 1x1x1 etc

Binary counters though. Just get them to somehow work above and below. Maybe snowmen are pushed up for the top side. Pushed up with the thing grown. However, failing a trip wire activation do I really want to use snow golem targeting. Actually, I could use any usable mob for the height, assuming there’s movement.
