The neck/head thing is always funny when google translating Japanese texts because you inevitably get gems like "the neck was displayed" after someone was killed in battle or executed (instead of the head).
One of the best new contributors to the souls lore hunter community. Bravo on your videos on translations and these sekiro videos are amazing and I look forward to any souls content you’ll make.

I know this video is like more than a year old at this point, but i really love both sekiro and language/kanji so i still wanted to mention it!
While the 院 kanji does indeed mean organization or institution (such as in 病院) i do feel like misen'in heavily implies that its a temple. 院 is a very common suffix for buddhist temples in Japan, so i don't necessarily think "misen temple" is an incorrect translation of it, especially since the shinobi hunters are shown wearing prayer beads and other religious items! Not trying to say that this video is wrong ofc, and maybe you already know this but cut it for brevity but i still wanted to mention it! Great video btw, will def be binging this series! :3
So then Genichero becomes a headless. "Letting their spirit into his body" basically describes what Genichero does with Isshin, and he does in face cut his own head off to do it. And obviously, his whole character arc is going down the wrong path to save his country
Imagine they make a sequel and a headless Genichiro is one of the boss fights

I feel like it's quite fitting that the headless ones seem to succumb to madness, since denoting someone/something as "headless" is often used in the sense of 'aimless' and similar (I don't really know much about language, but it's fascinating to hear about it ^^)

I love this series so much! Thanks for sharing your knowledge/research on this stuff. Imperfect translations have always been a bit of a problem in Souls games, but it's especially impactful for Sekiro because of all the references and nods to Japanese mythology.

Well, the Headlesses act inhuman in their movements like a puppet so i think that is where they get such ease to wield the nodachi since they aren't themselves

It's also wild to me how there are so many lore experts on RUclips that base their assumptions only on the English localization, when all these games are like super Japanese. I don't think Miyazaki even speaks English and if I'm not mistaken he does most of the writing, to the point where I remember him talking about personally writing all item descriptions in dark souls 1 by himself. It's like if you are going to analyze every word maybe check with the writer's original work to see if some of these words were even there to begin with. I guess people with English as their native tongue are so used to everything being in English that they don't really stop to think about how meaning changes when you change the language even if the translation is fantastic (and especially when it's not). Anyway, this is why your channel is unique and amazing, it's so appreciated. For those of us that don't speak Japanese and are into souls games, your work really helps to shed more light on these stories and in such a fun way too! thanks again.

一つ補足。首無しは日本のSEKIROコミュニティではしばしば河童と同一視されます。尻子玉狩りをすることに加えて、以下の3つの理由によります。
①河童は水中に潜む妖怪で有名だが、まさに首無しは水中にも出現する（夜叉戮の個体のみ）。しかも、首無したちは全員水死体のように膨れた姿をしていること。
②首無しの首の断面が、まるで皿のように見えること（河童は頭頂部に皿を持つことで有名です）。
③首無しの着衣はふんどしのみであること(河童は相撲が好き。ふんどしは古代日本の一般的な下着ですが、現代日本においては、「相撲をする力士が着用するもの」というステレオタイプのイメージがある)。
まあ、信憑性は微妙ですが、こういう解釈もあります。

i played Sekiro when it launched in 2019, i played it but didn’t really see past the deep combat. it’s only within the past few months where i’ve completely fallen in love with the game. To me it’s on par with Bloodborne, another 10/10 game
Pacifying Agent too mentions 介錯人, assistant for seppuku (localized as "executioners").
Gachin Spiritfall's discussion of madness and self reflection probably relates to the moonstruck theme that is common in all Fromsoft games. In Bloodborne, the moon literally hides a cosmic embodiment/spirit of the inherent madness in men.

The Headless are so terrifying and mysterious, but they're a lot more grounded now. Still, the twin headless are the weirdest even with full context.
I have a feeling that the localization team working on Sekiro is different from the usual one who worked on the Soulsborne series.

Gachiin could also be a pun on Gaijin (外人) which is a foreigner or outsider (literally “outside person”) referring to its use by spies. It would make sense in both the context of outsiders to the temple using the sugar, as well as spies being outsiders to the people they are spying on. The word gaijin can also have a negative connotation, and historically it was used to denote people who are present in Japan who do not belong there. It might be a small stretch, but I’d like to think the lore masters of Sekiro thought of that little pun when making the sugar.

Hi I just want to tell you that if you can beat Sekiro then u can easily play Dark souls and Bloodborne. If you want you can play with friends coop that can guide through the scary parts of the game, i would be more than happy to do it 😊
Personally I feel almost the opposite. I feel like bloodborne was made for me, and never finished sekiro, but I adore sekiros world and lore

These videos wanna make me talk about the german translations of souls games, the german versions are eather great or abselutely ass, ds3 and sekiro have a very good translation while ds1s translation is just utter garbage...
