The beauty that Pat and Lyle have put into the world can never be underestimated. Some people's legacies are just extraordinary. They remind us of joy....
What a memorable time the 80's were with the PMG putting out record after record of incredible beautiful music..my memories of the those years/summers spent listing to his albums, the romances connected to his music and attending his concerts throughout the decade, are some of the high points of my younger self...would love to do it all over again..
Me too! It was this song & LP that was my first time hearing PMG in 1984 when one Saturday afternoon the radio station of the University of Houston played it. I immediately bought the album & played it over and over.@@johng2880
I was a young teenager in Rome those years. I saw a Metheny tour live for the very first time a couple of year earlier and it hit me like a brick, it was the most beautiful music I had ever heard! When the group came back in '87, in those very days he was invited to that show on the italian state tv they also played for few night at a local small club. I was lucky enough to get tickets, enjoy an unforgettable close up experience of the Metheny Group, and meet them all! As a side note, at one point the power went out but among everyone's groaning they all kept playing acoustically (Metheny strumming like crazy) and Paul Wertigo took a 10 minutes plus drum solo. Fantastic.
A guitarist nonpareil fronts a band of world class talent, highlighted by the incomparable Lyle Mays(RIP). These guys interpret jazz in such a bracing, unpredictable, magnetic manner that it never fails to keep the listener glued to every twist and turn of their melodies. First Circle is certainly one of their finest, most beautiful pieces.
Waouaah ! Je meurs littéralement à partir de 9:14 ! I'm dying from 9:14 ! It's so sensitive and generous. From the heart with art and so much talent & humanity. Thank you so much Lyle. RIP. Thank you everyone. You always make feel so alive & happy 👍👍
@@rogrog1616 Wow nice! A buddy of mine who is a stage hand grabbed two of Pat's picks for me a few years ago. One of them looks like it has some use. I keep them right here on my desk.
The quality is fantastic-far superior to what has existed on the Internet for decades. BRAVO! Now, could we please see (It's Just) Talk from this very same DOC show? Thank you so much! ❤
Look at each of these musicians. They become one with the music, focused on their individual instruments and yet, so aligned with one another to create one of the finest pieces of music we have been privileged to relish.
R.I.P., Lyle Mays. Over many, many years, your beautiful music made my life better.
He's a legend
Un gigante. What a loss.
Lyle and Pat were perfect for each other, to my ears, throughout all those years.
Same, and in a big way. I was so sad when he passed.
😂😂😂😂

This always gives me chills.
I thank Almighty God that I grew up with this kind of music. What a joy.
Per me First Circle rimane sempre uno dei brani più belli del Pat Metheny Group
Paul Wertico on drums... excellent!
Il programma musicale più bello della TV. Dispiace per chi non era ancora nato. Ma oggi vi propongono solo finti artisti preconfezionati.

Che grande era la televisione una volta. Cresciuto con "l' orecchiocchio", "concertone", "deejay television", "doc". Che nostalgia e malinconia.
Absolute greatness and beauty. I miss that Pat, and I miss Lyle.

Pat’s guitar gets one heck of a strumming workout in that last section. Even his pick goes flying & he grabs a few times at a new one.
I have a Metheny pick from 1985.
Indeed an marvellous guitar part in this piece. The fingerpicking part…? Just stunning.

I just love the sound of Paul Wertico’s stick dancing on the ride cymbal…. Perfect combo of wood and metal
Met them when I was 10 years old over a vinyl record. I have never looked back.

Lyle Mays was an angel of the keyboards. Thank God for his inspiration in my lifetime.

Maestro. I only observe one detail, two voices were used to do the same thing that Pedro Aznar achieved, alone.
They did that a lot in concert when Pedro moved on. He was definitely the best vocalist to come through PMG. He was incredible live.
Mark and David are good, but Pedro's voice was the tops - soulful, angelic, pure

@@enricomarconi8358 I agree. All of PMG’s vocalists/multi-instrumentalists were incredible artists but Pedro set the standard.

Near the end, did any of you see Pat lose his pick and quickly get another and hardly missed a bit. Awesome.

Pat rocking the leather pants!
Top music ever.
Quella sera per fortuna guardavo il programma
Sadly, Lyle does all the heavy lifting and we hardly see him.
Damn Lyle. Simply a’Mays’ing.
