    it's amazing that Petula Clark is 90 years old today. Those were the best songs of all time! I'm glad that I could hear them before I die. I am 71 years old.

      And also the song "A World Without Love" with Peter & Gordon that also went to #1 in 1964 was written by
      Lennon/McCartney.

      They would had more but they had songs that were kept off the top spot by another of their own songs. In April 1964 they held the 1,2,3,4, and 5 positions in the chart.

    Best music ever. I think I have almost all of these songs in some form. One error for 1967:The Association is shown singing "Never My Love" and it is labeled as "Windy".

    Década prodigiosa la de los 60.
    La verdadera competencia de Los Beatles no fueron los Rolling Stones, ni los Beach Boys ni Dave Clark Five ni los Herman Hermits. Fueron The Supremes.

      @miguelangelguerrerozamora3189 3 месяца назад

      La verdad es que Los Beatles no tuvieron competencia. 20 Temas #1 en Estados Unidos Vs 12 Temas de The Supremes. En el Resto del Mundo, Los Rolling Stones no tuvieron ni el 40% de impacto que tuvieron Los Beatles. En Australia por ejemplo, tuvieron 26 Temas #1 mientras que Elvis, su mas cercano competidor, solo tuvo 12. A nivel de Álbumes solo Los Beach Boys se atrevieron a darles un poco de competencia, y por un rato parecía que podían lograrlo. Pero finalmente fueron superados desde que salió el Sgt. Peppers, y de allí en adelante, nadie mas les hizo sombra.

    Notice you have to us the Donny Osmond version of Go Away Little Girl. He's the same generation as me so he would have been a baby in the early sixties. 😁❤️
    Interesting clip of Nancy Sinatra singing with her brother Frank Junior, because he father wasn't available, for a television performance. Frank Junior's voice was very similar to his father's. 🎶❤️
    That wasn't Peter, Paul and Mary, that was Mama Cass and John Denver, who wrote Leaving On A Jet Plane, which eerily sums up what happened to him.

    The worst songs are Winchester Catherdral and Walk Right In. But the rest of the 60s is probably much better than the no 1 hits demonstrate. Bet the no 2 songs are just as good. Seems like Psychedelia is underrepresented here. Favs: Johnny Rivers' Poor Side of Town, Groovin', Quarter of Three, Do Wah Diddy Diddy, I Feel Fine, The Tighten Up, To Sir with love, Incense and Peppermints, You've lost that loving feeling, 8 Days a week, She's Got a Ticket to Ride, Satisfaction, Paint it Black, Sounds of Silence, Light my Fire, Sunshine Superman, Penny Lane, Leavin on a Jet Plane. Why did I even start this list.. so much greatness.

      Often the copyright stealers will take the funding or block the videos, if they are longer pieces or from the original radio singles. Even for 60s songs these thieves are miserable.

    In summary: Before the Beatles, the songs from the early 60s were mostly garbage. Things changed in a big way with the arrival of the Beatles. Other entertaining groups of that decade were the Rolling Stones, the Temptations, The Rascals, Jefferson Airplane, the Fifth Dimension, the Doors, Santana, the Four Tops, the Troggs, Credence Clearwater, The Beach Boys, and Aretha Franklin.

      Yes 1960-62 were really culturally a continuation of the 1950s (though I could never lump Elvis in with ‘garbage’) 1963 change was afoot and 1964 onwards was full steam ahead with the popular music revolution. The Beatles (Beach Boys and Stones too) sent shockwaves around the World and were the inspiration behind a lot of the brilliant acts that followed.
