To be honest with you, how could the one thousands through NOW, EVEN HOLD A CANDAL TO WHAT CAME BEFORE THEM. Twenty years of the greatest song writers of all time! Every song writer worth a crap wants to come up with great, original songs. How could they do that after the, scorched earth of the super 70s and 60s?? To be honest, the last song writer I was aware of was Cristtofer Cross in 19teen seventyNine . After him, its a blank.

      Corporate crap!!!
It's the same exact thing that happened to Broadway. Corporations took over and sent in the bean counters. It became all about controlled formulas to maximize profits over the art.
Then in the 90's Clear Channel (more corporate overlords) began to buy up all the radio stations and it was no longer what the listeners wanted and asked to hear, but the "artists" the labels pay them to play.

I was a young kid in the 1970s but I remember the 1970s music also well and it was all so beautifully put together the 1970s era is the best ever yet it was an era of just plain simple music down to earth and had a lot of meaning it had a lot of everything you can think of of good imaginary feelings the 1970s stood out to be the best of music of rock and roll and and it was an ERA that was overwhelming with love songs and just performances that were just excellently mastered by the musicians of the times all historical and legendary and all set in stone forever and ever the 1970s will always be because the music will play forever❤❤❤❤❤❤

I was just going to say if Elvis Presley was alive today in 2024 he would be amazed at how much the music went through the years from the oldies to the new the change of the errors of time from the 1950s to the present all the changes that were ever made then and now and just the rock and roll era or if you want to call it heavy metal p but there's always soft rock too all of it was great all of the music is just great put together very excellent and everything just came in harmony it was just great The sound of music the times the musicians that played the music everything just an excellent error of time❤❤❤❤❤

I guess we didn't realize at that time just how spoiled we were to have all this AMAZING music all around us everyday. If you found a good radio station they would play hit after hit after hit after hit after hit ALL DAY AND NIGHT LONG it was AWESOME!! Like I said, just didn't realize how spoiled we were. I was born in 1969 and remember every single one of these songs during my 70's childhood. The best time in music, when the Billboard #1's were a mix of everything, pop, rock, folk, soul, R&B, funk, etc... Just everything. A time when it was truly all about the music, not who was singing it or what they looked like. And true talent, no autotune or backing tracks.

Some songs & music transports us to another time & memory Some happy Some sad 😔.
When I go shopping in my local Walmart I buy cds from my fav bands & musicians or singers many listed in these vids of these years----- yesterdsys music not today's.
Thank you. Excuse me I need a box of tissues 🤧.

I spent most of the decade of the 1970s as a teenager ('73-'79), and even though I hated bubblegum pop and disco at the time I still remember every one of these songs. After about 1986, we never had real musical diversity on the radio again, where you could hear a pop song, a rock song, a country song, a disco song, a novelty song and a New Wave song all on the same station. Try that now - damn near everything sounds alike; no matter what style it is, every song contains elements of all the other styles combined together in a mashup, and it all sounds homogenized, as if all the songs were written, performed and produced by the same people. And in a lot of cases, they probably were.

My bloody word! The oh so extraordinary collection music from both the 70's and 80's is absolutely mind-blowing! What a wonderful eclectic range of styles from one end to other! So much talent,...and so much soul. No doubt, absent in todays musical selections drilled into our minds nowadays. What in Heavens' Name happened? Figure it out before I spell it out for you.

I was amused to learn 'Tragedy', was number one on March 24th 1979, which was my wedding day. I had a good marriage that lasted for life - though a lot of people thought it would not. 'Too much too little too late' was number one on the day after we met (3rd June 1978) , and 'You're the one that I want, ' when we got engaged!

The 70's were the last years where the music did not have overdubbing and additional electronic instruments to assist (or cover up) bad songs. It was the last decade of the true artists. After that, corporations would slowly take over in the 80's and crank out songs they spent time convincing the public on how good they were.
