I taught myself to work on small engines by finding old machines, tearing them down, and getting them running again. I had no idea what I was doing when I first started, so I always got in the habit of taking detailed photographs of everything before I tore it down. I don't need to do it very often anymore, but I always when I am doing something I have never done before.
This is my first video of yours i've watched. I love your style. Little bit of Mustie, little bit of Farmcraft, just a pinch of AvE sass.. subbed. My wife borrowed my beloved Nissan one day. She got hit by a hit and run driver and left me truckless (not her fault, i saved the pieces of the jackasses truck) Soo.. I spent the next year in our Dodge Neon 4dr backup car with 250k miles. We have horses.. and cattle.. so i'd load up 1200lb of feed in the trunk backseat and passenger seat and carry on. Lumber? Ratchet straps. PVC? Ratchet straps. Lawnmowers chainsaws and trimmers to do maintenance at our business? You guessed it.. Ratchet straps. Never underestimate a determined human being with a tiny car.
Thank you very much for the comment and encouragement! I'm sorry about your truck. Hopefully the Misses was OK. That happened to my parents and I as a kid. Bashed into the rear of us and took off. 😡 I bet that car was sagging a little bit when fully loaded!! 😆 Good for you for unleashing the potential of that car!!
@@TractorFella Oh yeah she was fine. I'm pretty tough but that girl is something else. 5'5" veterinarian that can boss a draft horse around. Was a rollover crash and never heard her complain ablut being sore.. just finding that SOB and putting a boot in his hind end 😂
On most any Engine, if you have Fire and Gas and timing is ok, it will start and run, I have worked on lawn mower engines for over 50 years -just my own and a few friends. I use to hang around a lawn mover repair shop when I was a kid, learned a lot from the old repairman...
parents had one what a maintenance nightmare, but so what they had free labour to get it to be as good as it can be. gave it to a friend of mine almost at first he needed to be shown how get started, drew the line at repair...
You should pick you up a set of hose scissors. They sell them at Lowe's and Harbor Freight. They run about $7. They are designed to cut hoses without smashing or deforming them. They come in really handy if you do a lot of fuel line. You can find them with the specialty tools. They have been a lifesaver for me.
On Small Engines that you don't know their Maintenance History--I would run Transmission Fluid in the Engine for about 15-30 mins, it will Super Clean the Internals...
Thanks for the video. Heads up on those carburetors on the Techumseh. That one has the long low speed idle screw-means it has a delicate brass tube that travels in the carburetor. I actually winced when you turned upside down and checked the setting by turning it in as the brass tube can be ruined that way. Taryl Fixes all just did a video on the same carburetor- it was on the worlds most dangerous snowblower.
My husband is home again and I finish to watch the video. Before you realised not to have set the jets I wondered why you just turn the jets in to the right and not back again 😂✌️ now it’s 1 am in the morning and definitely time to sleep 💤 good night and see you on the next video show 📺
I hate torque wrenches myself, and try to avoid them whenever possible. I joked about it on one of your other videos. I only use them on two things: head bolts and cutting blades. When it comes to blades, I do not play around with that. I have had a mower throw a blade before, but I got lucky that time. I would be really careful when it comes to not using torque wrenches on blades. I know they are expensive. I only have one because i found it in a car when I worked in a junkyard, but you shouldn't take chances with cutting blades.
I appreciate that info. That sounds terrifying! Believe it or not I do have a torque wrench. I got it when I was in school. Nothing too fancy but I so use it when something is critical (break work for example).
Hahahahah!!! A Crapsman Woodchucker.. with a Tecumseh engine . Oh dear! Those engines are so much fun. The Eager-1 is advertisement for "Solid State Ignition" . . It's actually a really good ignition system, can't lie. On my other channel I have a video on a Crapsman mower with the Eager-1 pull start too.. it's definitely eager! I have pulled it like a 6 year old kid, and it started.. in fact, I accidentally started it on camera, and decided to cut the grass... As much of a pain in the ass Tecumseh engines are, I kinda like working on them hahahah! Nice work on this old POS 😊 Incidentally, on Tecumseh carbs, you will see the emulsion tube, and a bulge on the side of it. Inside there is a tube that will slide up and down... If you have the carb upside down when you screw in the needle valve, you'll destroy the carburetor.. make sure it's standing straight up properly before screwing it in, I mean... A year late is better than never 🤣 That's if you weren't already aware of it. If so.. carry on 😁
LOL I enjoy your input! I did find out (and it's VERY possible it was at a later date) about the tube. Someone else mentioned it too. I thought "Ruh roh..." I might have pulled it back off in the second video, I can't remember (memory of an infant 🤣). What's your other channel name (if you want to share). I'd like to check it out! Thanks again 🍻
Hahaha you're most welcome! I saw when you put it back in that all was good. Don't worry, if you broke it, the engine wouldn't run. Really enjoy your videos!! They give me a good laugh every time. I also felt your elation when you got the meat grinder out.. that was just so satisfying to see it pop free. And you're so right about those hour long+ videos ... Average time, 10-16 minutes.. hahahah!!! It's so true! My channel is tiny, new.. but if you want, Mikeanic is the name.. but only since you asked 😊 Keep up the great videos! I'll be checking out Part ii to this video soon ...
Hahaha glad I could oblige!! Could I have removed the whole part about forgetting to set the mixture screws? Yep! Did I? Nope! More fun that way If you call that fun... 😆
First comment, yeah 👍😀 it’s 11 pm and I watch your video 😂 I wish you a nice evening later, cuddle your dogs and family. I have to pick up my husband from the railway station now, he had a pre-Christmas party with his colleagues. Good night und Tschüss (will be funny for you to find out, what that means 😂)
Hi Maik! Haha you're the first! Thank you! I bet you're glad he's coming home. 'Tis the season for Christmas parties. Google translate is great 😆 Gute Nacht!
@@TractorFella Here is what they usually look like: ruclips.net/video/h4Riwgn0DyU/видео.html Looks like someone worked on it an lost the correct linkage and made another one work. That part looks like one on other models have the carb mounted to an intake like this: ruclips.net/video/6XIjkW0aizc/видео.html The bent link is to get around the intake. If it's working and doesn't fall off, go with it, I guess. But it looks like it would bind and not smoothly transmit what the governor arm it trying to send to the throttle plate.

was wondering where my chipper went! set it up by road to do wifes bushes and went to eat dinner, came back and its gone! 🤣 lol j/k looks like a nice machine! get ya a ultrasonic cleaner for those small engine carbs off amazon. makes cleaning them alot easier, check out Mustie1 on youtube and watch some of his videos also. he is a awsome dude with alot of knowledge on engines in general.

Of course! I learned a lot from this one.
fresh brush no more than1/4 to 3/8 green wood...
With A Tecumseh engine and brass float, that machine has to be pretty old. Did you ever find a date code on it?
I'll have to get the serial number off the engine and have a look. I'll let you know 👍👍
For god's sake, put the governor linkage back on correctly.
I'd be happy to oblige! I just looked at when I removed the carb and that's how it was. Have a reference for me to look at?
