Phantom Air Mission is also the most rare and valuable PAL game on the console together with Snowboard Challenge (Heavy Shreddin'). The few times it goes up for sale it usually goes for at least $700 for cart only. Sadly they're also the last 2 games missing from my PAL collection XD
Just the instructions of the landing was more than enough for me. The landing part would just be a kill screen for me and I'd consider it beat and retired.
oh wow i forgot about this one! I owned it, a gift from my dad who loved Coonts. It was a TOUGH game for 9 year old me. I don't think i ever got past the halfway mark. Thank you for the nostalgia trip!
Well, a game I never heard of based on a movie and novel I never heard of xD Can't say this one would be my jam, but I always appreciate rotation horizon effects on NES
From my little experience with flight simulator games I can only compare this to Afterburner for the Sega Master System (which I only played a little of and somewhat recently), but from what I see this looks pretty solid in terms of visual effects and also has more gameplay modes. Happy New Year, NES Friend!
This looks like an okay time. A soundtrack would've really helped to push this to something a little more tolerable... as long as it was good, of course! Happy new year to you and thanks for the videos. I always look forward to your uploads.
Launch left arrow and don't worry about the landing gear it will retract on its own. Landing: lower gear come down to about level 225. Wait bring down to 90 then cut power at yellow shirts head. That should land u on the number 3 wire. Anywhere between 92 - 89 works if u can't get 90.
F4s gun i use to pop. Sams or tag migs head on before they pass over u Using radar screen helps Going vertical and down behind migs 4 a missile shot works circling the radar screen not so much
I'd played Flight of the Intruder on Amiga, so wanted to see if there was any difference in quality. Surprised to learn It's not even the same game. Though the Amiga game was also about the same campaign.
I don't know who the audience was for these NES simulations of simulations. The games don't actually have the depth of a PC simulation from the time period, they just look like one on the surface. If I want what the game is selling, I'll go to a PC game that works. For example, the PC/Amiga/Atari ST Flight of the Intruder is a based on the Falcon engine and comes with a manual half the length of a novel. In case that's not enough, it also comes with a novel. The NES can't get that kind of depth. It can create UI which looks like a cockpit but it doesn't have enough memory to hold the complicated missions or the interface to have the complicated controls the PC game does. These NES wannabe simulation games are most like the Disney World ride "Mission Space". It looks like there's a lot going on until it starts and you can see that it's a bunch of flashing lights.
Not having music and the constant beeping is why me and I'm sure many others put this game on mute. This is more advanced than Top Gun but not as fun IMO.
Navy F4s don't have a gun! As migs pass u i go vertical & come down behind and missile soot em, they can't shoot backwards. Still looking for Sams Intruder try to hit target s till sections 10 - 12. Wat h 4 Sams more than aiming 4 target s.
I agree with you on the game being long and boring. Take off is just thrust, the plane will do the rest Landing in the walk through is best. lower wheels stay above 70 ft. Use hook to snag the 3 wire. Fighting Migs gun them, and their missiles as they head on past you, barrel roll up and behind them. Shoot them from behind. A. They can't shoot backwards. B sidewinder missiles were 90 % more afftive than head-on sparrows. The game is 80 % dodging, SAMs 20% shooting Migs or bombing targets. Helps not to be greety. Yeaaaaa I really need to get a life 🤣
Surprisingly good horizon tilt effect, perhaps the best I've seen on the NES.
Happy Wednesday and New Year everyone!

Wow didn't know that
"Stay mostly straight and just be patient"... Wise words to live by

I'm really digging this channel, always coming up with something interesting to play and usually something I haven't played before :)

Happy New Year, NES Friend!
I loved your Roger Ebert quote the most. It was a "mess."
All credit to Roger on that one 😆
@@NESFriend gotta appreciate the honest journalism there! 😂
Happy 2023, NES Friend! You rock!

WALK THROUGH LA DINDS: lighty come. Down on deck with wheels down hook up
Stay about altitude 70. Put hook down on wire 3. Yes.i need a life 😅
Your Vietnam era radar guided missiles are very accurate.
Someone who programmed this game flunked history class
Very different to the Atari ST version. Still cool.
Thank you for this very good video.

Never played. Nice job, Travis.
Gotta end on a dad joke 👏

Not everyone had a PC back then.

landing gear!
Do you always take off in an F-4 Phantom then land in an A-6 Intruder?
What's this on? Series X?
It takes skill to make an entertaining video about a ho hum game.
Lol thanks!
