I remember I found this randomly at a grocery store of all places. I bought it, brought it home and was immediately bummed out. I should have just gotten some Golden Grahams instead.
Stiill crazy to me that this got a modern rerelease. Even crazier that I bought it. I rented this a few times as a kid and enjoyed it a bit but could never figure it out. Imagine a Bogus Journey game. A significant chunk of it would be playing minigames like Battleship against Death.
I know I'm in the minority, but I really like this game for what it is. It overstays its welcome towards the end, but at least once you find the baits, they're always in the same place when you wrap back around to the same worlds in later stages. It just takes some sleuthing and patience, and a manual of course. Glad you gave this one some time in the spotlight!
I'm mostly pissed at how Nintendo treated the PAL region, giving us half the library and not giving a shit about adapting games to the 50hz system. Oh boy, but not today. You guys can keep this game your side of the ocean! Merry gaming!
I remember being part of that 93% that rented the game and got no manual, so I hated this as a kid. But even more than that, I remember AVGN going off on this game a disturbingly long time ago.
I feel like there were several games from LJN that could be described as having a good idea in there, but it was not fleshed or polished. Jaws and Friday the 13th fall under this I think.
This is not a good game… but I loved it when I was eight. I’m not even sure I’d seen the movie at that point, but I would replay the first two worlds over and over again (never got further than that. Game was too hard for me, lol)
It looks acceptable to me. Could have been better, yes, but I find some people are too hard on some games and companies. Mind you I never played this game and I never owned a NES.I was strictly a computer (and arcades) gamer in the 80s and 90s. Thank you for another great review.
This game is no bueno dudes. Ambitious but poorly executed. It feels like a NES port of a PC game, except there is no PC version. That title screen theme though is a major earworm.
Happy excellent Wednesday everyone

3:13 You take that back! I loved reading the manuals.

I was absolutely the no manual rental kid who really hated this game in that particular weekend 🤣🤣🤣
Uhh, best two out of three!
A 5000 word script makes for a great NES Friend video. But it only takes three letters for us to know how it's gonna end!
I was one of those 93%. Never Forget! 9-9-89!

Salad dressing is also how people find me
Gotta love that walking animation 😄
Playing through a clunky NES game myself right now that has neat ideas that I am appreciating more and more as I go through it: Magician
Didn’t even know this existed.. thanks for the great video! Have a great day and hope that “Harry Potter” scar is healing up good!
Bill Chicago
Be excellent to each other dudes!
I'm in the process of writing a letter to LJN about this game.
Those movies were totally awesome dude! 😂
Another "excellent" video! I'm glad I skipped over renting this game back then. a manual seemed absolutely necessary for this game.

Reminds me of toejam and earl. "Party on dudes!"
That stats is 93% true
7:00 Lol!
Some decent ideas that would be great if the game was actually good is like…the motto of LJN!

I kinda enjoy jaws as is tbh
I so badly wanted this game to be good. But when I was a kid my attention span within minutes was like “nope… I’m gonna play something more exciting.”

some promising ideas, piss poor execution. I'll echo something AVGN said, and this could've been a an edutainment game
I own this now, but as a kid it was SO disappointing. They could have just made a simple platformer picking up phone booth parts..

Not a fan of this one at all
Bad game
umm, definitely not a "magic" phone booth...lol
