- SUPER MARIO GALAXY 3 HAS NOT BEEN ANNOUNCED. Miyamoto said recently that SUPER MARIO GALAXY 3 is 'always in discussion', so does that mean we will see a super mario galaxy 3 announcement this year? Will it be on the NX? This video explores the possibility of a sequel and what impact it might have on the fans. Nintendo have been through a tough time lately and fans have been very vocal about what they want. It is time that Super Mario Galaxy 3 was announced?

To be honest; it was made on the 3DS as a tribute to the fact that the original Luigi's Mansion game was going to be compatible with a 3d screen attachment for the GCN; but said attachment was scrapped because it was apparently MORE expensive than the Game Cube itself.

I am so excited about this. Super Mario Galaxy was my first console game ever. I had the amazing astonishment of unwraping a wii on christmas day as well as super mario galaxy. I immediately hooked it up, and was lured into the game like that. I had never thought that any game has made me feel like that or better than that before. So when it comes out probably on the NX, I will buy it day 1. It is the least that I can do for such a game with caliber like that.

Thank you to everyone who has liked, commented and voiced their opinions, whatever they may be - it really means a lot. From reading the comments I can see that not everyone wants a new Galaxy game - some want a Sunshine sequel, others something new and fresh. Opinions that I completely understand and respect. I'm not against these ideas, far from it, but they don't change how I feel about a third instalment either. Now, I love to discuss ideas and If there's anything that you feel I could have done to improve this video please let me know. I want to make really good quality videos and if you let me know what you like and what you didn't it will help me further improve, as I am still relativity new on RUclips. It’s been nearly 9 whole years and there hasn’t been a Super Mario Galaxy 3. People COULD argue that Super Mario Odyssey counts as a Galaxy 3, but Odyssey is more of just an expanding of 3D World in my opinion. Plus, it was too short and too easy, not that there’s anything wrong with it. I loved both Galaxy and Galaxy 2, so what’s the pain about not making a Galaxy 3? I’m sure Nintendo’ll come up with something.

Ah yes, I've read this article. Miyamoto said 'as the hardware technology gets better and advances, I think there will be a lot of opportunity for both options.' - by both options he meant making 2D and 3D games at the same time; however, when asked if he was specifically talking about the NX or future console he said 'Wii U's definitely good enough in terms of hardware performance, it is more the workload of the team.' Meaning he's not necessarily referring to the hardware of the console but more the hardware they use to build and create the games. He went on to say it's about CPU. So the headlines a little misleading. Although it's properly safe to assume that if a galaxy title is only now just in the works a Wii U exclusive release is unlikely. I would wager it could be released on both consoles. If, of course the NX is indeed a new console.

This video was so sincere. I loved it. And I agree with you, Super Mario Galaxy and its sequel were big parts of my childhood. I remember the summer of 2010. I just got SMG2, and I got all 242 stars within the span of just three days. I was so excited to play the sequel.

Some people say that there shouldn't be a 3rd Galaxy, but I disagree. Maybe not as a launch title, but a little further down the life span of the NX. It's been 6 years now since Galaxy's sequel, so I don't think it would hurt to make just one more entry in the series. There's so much potential: new villains, different story, and new power-ups. Not to mention the whole experience in glorious HD! If Nintendo does make Galaxy 3, I say "Take my money!"
I love how the Galaxy game had actual dialogue and story. That universal big bang at the end of the first one confuzzled me for years.

Well, magic of SMG was the wii controls and nunchuck, I don't if the WiiU or the Switch can do it in the same way.
LEGO Levis using the individual joycon wprks way better than the Wii remote and nunchuck. it doesn't feel the same, but it does everything that the Wii remote can do but better
i remember when i was young ( well i am 13 now so i guess i was 5) i played mario galaxy and the sequel and they were such, i dont even have the words. I feel so depressed now and it is kinda related to the fact that im not free anymore. I feel that if they made a galaxy 3, it would be kinda like the only thing to help me.
I want a super Mario Galaxy 3 SOO BAD. Just hearing the confirmation that they are going to release another Mario Galaxy in like 14 years, I won't care. It's gonna come and I will piss my fucking pants for it. Both Mario galaxy's made me feel like I have no worry in the world. When I was a kid (like wii sports) my mom used to play the game with me and no other family member played a game with me as often as my mom. My dad had work and I wasn't living with him. all im thinking is that if they make a new one they should NEVER make it like the second game, im saying that because super mario galaxy 2 is more of a linear game without the fun or exploration, but the first one was full to the brim with it because you could do the final boss before you did the engine room or the boss of the bedroom before any other galaxy in the bedroom! but more importantly i just want that amazing sound track to be back. and nintendo please dont make remakes of old levels, just take your time and make a BRAND NEW GAME.
I want a game that branches off in many directions that lead to different Galaxies and worlds, similar to NSMBU.

Super Mario Galaxy 2... my first Mario game that I had to say was my all time favorite. My brother had received it for his birthday a few years back, and we all were astounded by the beautiful graphics. I love galaxies, they are one of the most prettiest things of nature. We played up until the first world had a split. One was to go down, and the other was up. I decided to spend my Star Bits up for it and headed to the lower galaxy. FlipSwap Galaxy. Ah, I remember the beautiful galatic view, but I was just starting out in my gaming experience. It was very hard, and I had eventually died so many times that I had started losing hope. All of a sudden, I saw a Blue galactic Shadow. I approached it, and it asked for help in guidance. I was guessing that it was Peach, noticing the similar features to it. (I had only known of Peach and Daisy at the time) She had helped me to the end of the star. I got slightly confused of the whole 'Bronze Star' thing, so I played it again. She was gone, and I had lost a few more lives, but I eventually got through and passed the level. I decided later on that she was going to help me in the future, and I was right. No, I wasn't able to beat the whole game, over the fact that my system kept crashing in world 3. I had then gotten Mario Kart Wii. I had unlocked all the characters but one. I strived to unlock it, beating every single course with a gold ranking. I had finally unlocked that mystery character, Rosalina. I grew shocked, over noticing the fact that she was very pretty. I started to dominate the whole game with her in online tournaments. I had even played Rosalina when I raced a hacker. Twice. (BEST. EXPERIENCE. EVER.) For an eight year old with an artistic side, I immediately got out a sketchpad and drew her. She turned out alright, and I was proud. Her voice was so mysterious, and she even let me discover a glitch that I thought was impossible to do without hacking. Rosalina was perfect to me, and I can still remember myself trying to imitate her. Smash Bros 4 was finally announced, and I got SO happy to see her. She looked great. I got Sm4sh, SM3DW, and Mario Kart 8 two years ago and once again strived to unlock her. I did, but this time I was upset about it. I know its small, but it was her voice. I hated it. She no longer sounded like she used to and I was immediately disappointed for it. Sm4sh didn't help really either, for it just made her seem even more normal than she was. I had sighed in defeat, knowing that she was now who she was. I was very surprised that she was a secret character in SM3DW, but still, I didn't get that feeling I did. I literally cried when I listened to World One's music, over the sheer beauty. I had gotten the game again of my WiiU, and I am now at world 5. Yeah, I know that I ruined the whole experience by spoiling myself, but it almost felt better that I found about this beauty sooner.
Now it's all, 'ROSALINA IS TOO OVERHYPE, OMG ROSALINA SUX, WHERE'S DAISY??'
I personally think that this is changing Rosie, into now making her too well known. Its almost like Nintendo wants us to know about her but doesn't.
And this is coming out from a fourteen year old girl.
I want Rosie to just be back where she belongs, with her Luma bouncing around her in Mario Kart, and staying mysterious, yet lovable in our Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2.
SO, if Nintendo is ever going to make a Super Mario Galaxy 3, I hope for Rosalina to be back where she was. This is how she started, and this is how she should stay.

I still have one of my 2007 Nintendo Power magazines with it's article on the development of Super Mario Galaxy. I remember looking at the screenshots for the first time jaws dropped. That became the longest November wait in my life.

Please Nintendo I was 5 when I got Galaxy in 2007 and it made me so happy when they anouced a sequel. NOW I HAVE EVERY NINTENDO CONSOLE. JUST ONE MORE SEQUEL NEEDS TO HAPPEN.

This was such an entertaining video, man! Your Mario 64 experience was a lot like mine actually. I grew up with the DS remake and I'll never forget the fun I had with it. The first video game I ever played was super Mario 64 at a family friends house in the early 2000's. I stumbled upon the console and my 6 year old self was able to start it up somehow. I remember being blown away and thinking it was like a real world inside a video game. I'll never forget the first time I played Galaxy though. In 2007 I got a Wii and one of the first games I ever got was galaxy. I'm a diehard Nintendo fan and no other games have hooked and changed me as much as Nintendo games. I've played ocarina of time, just about every Pokemon game known to man, and about every other successful game out there, but to this day the original Super Mario Galaxy remains my favorite video game of all time. I was consumed in it's magic. It was breathtaking. I remember pre ordering the sequel and being hyped when I first slid that disc into my wii. It didn't have the same wow factor as the original, but is a truly phenomenal game. It was difficult. Hell it took me until 2014 to finally beat the perfect run. The super Mario galaxy series is a part of my life and have a third would make me, and a lot of other people very happy.

I would love Super Mario Galaxy 3 to be released for the Wii U, even if it would be the last mario game for that console before the NX is released. Just like Super Mario RPG as the last mario game for the SNES a few months before the N64. And Paper Mario released for the N64 a few months before the Nintendo Game Cube was released the same year. And if they make a Mario game like that for NX, they should do Super Mario Universe.

It's only the tip of the iceberg really as I'm going to delve quite deep into the psychology of video game characters, story lines and the impact they have on our modern day culture, and, more importantly - our well-being. Mario's a prime example of that as he's so iconic. Nintendo have already said that Zelda will release on the Wii U and I've never known the big 'N' to back track on such promises - what I think is likely is that it will release on both platforms, like TP.

That's interesting. What is it about the third instalment delays and/or absence of successful franchises? Fear of failure? Half life 3, Shenmue 3, Galaxy 3, Team fortress 3, Portal 3 - all highly requested and heavily delayed projects - and most of them made by Valve. Pressures on Valve.
I still don't know why Nintendo chose to not make an actual 3D Mario game for one of their consoles. No, I'm not counting 3D World, although I fear that's the direction most future 3D Mario games are going to take.
I have always preferred 3D Mario over 2D Mario, but I don't think people have enough patience these days to fully enjoy a 3D Mario game in the vein of 64, Sunshine, or Galaxy.
I personally think that they should move on from Galaxy, but I'm not resistant to the idea. In fact, if they do make another Galaxy game, it shouldn't be titled "Galaxy 3", but instead "Super Mario Universe"!
I've always had the idea of taking cues from Sunshine and placing Mario in a specific environment and let the designers get creative with with levels pertaining to that environment. Limitations can often lead to extraordinary products. I'm thinking a "Super Mario Ice", perhaps the Mushroom Kingdom could be cursed with an Ice Age, and Mario has to traverse a frozen landscape to save the Princess (again). And the levels can start out very innocent and cheerful, but as the game goes on the levels can become more desolate, eerie, and dark. I know that this is probably too niche in the way that Sunshine was, especially if one doesn't like snow levels. But I think there is a lot that can be done in terms of level design with snow/ice levels.
Call it: "Super Mario ICE" (name pending).
I really like your ideas mate. Calling it 'Super Mario Universe' is an excellent suggestion imo, as it implies something new but also familiar. The 'ice idea' sounds interesting, if not a little similar to 'Donkey Kong tropical freeze', but having a restricted niche makes a lot of sense and that's a good example. I think the main reason the Wii U has not got a proper 3D Mario game is because of sales. Miyamoto said recently, quite simply, that 2D Mario games sell better than 3D. I wouldn't worry about the new 3D Mario game direction though as I'm pretty sure something is in the works. Nintendo knows the rhapsodic demand for a new galaxy game and I think it's more a question of 'when', than 'if'.

People say that 3D Mario games don't sell, but they're usually the highest selling games for each console. So it was foolish for Nintendo to totally ignore that this generation.
I hope we get one within the next couple of years, because I would really hate to see them milk the Super Mario 3D World concept over and over again.

I agree to a point. For me, nothing so far has given me that same 'chin dropping' feeling as I got seeing 64 for the first time, however Galaxy was definitely closest. I was often/still are stunned how well it played/plays and have admiration of the brains behind its conception.
I hope there will be Super Mario Galaxy 3 soon bc my heart is literally drowning in my inner tears when I listen to the soundtrack of Super Mario Galaxy 2!😭

Isn't it time Nintendo made Super Mario 128? lol. Mario Sunshine was great with it's expansive levels, but with the focus on the water dynamic it felt less of a mario platformer. I love Super Mario Galaxy, it is epic, and possibly my favourite mario. And I agree with you, and about 2... but there's one thing missing from 64: expansive levels, and true exploration. Both Galaxy and Mario 3D World seem to have recaptured the original level format of the 2D mario platformers, a generally linear progression to an end goal, and that is great it has a lot of nostalgia factor to me. Though, I always come back to Mario 64 and it's large expansive levels and a more or less seek and discover form of platforming which was brilliant. You didn't always have to collect the first star first, and while there are the bonus stars in galaxy, it's just not... idk, the same.
I want to see Mario Galaxy 3, yes, but I still feel like we never really received a proper sequel to 64.

I agree with you all the way! I have been praying since the day Super Mario Galaxy 2 ended that they would announce Galaxy 3. And I'm positive that Nintendo can turn things around if they release a game so highly anticipated as this one!!
I hope there will be a Super Mario Galaxy 3. They're my favorite Mario games. I had LOTS of fun playing them and still do to this day (Although certain things are a bit too challenging and irritating **COUGH** ROLLING BALL AND FLUZZARD **COUGH**) So if they make SMG3, that would be the happiest day of my video gaming life
Ha ha. Yeah. I actually love those challenging parts, particularly in SMG2 - where you had to roll that ball down the really narrow path to get one of the green stars. It was certainly 'pull your hair out stuff', no doubt, but it made victory all the more sweet. Such a great game.

Like maybe an ACTUAL Co-Op mode where you and your friend can play as Mario AND Luigi at the same time. if you've seen the video that 2 guys made of a split screen co op mode on Galaxy 2, it'd kinda work like that, but only when you and your friend were to far away for the camera to focus on. I also have some ideas for power ups

Galaxy 1 and 2 are, in my books, the best games of this century. I will now list everything that I love about the Galaxy games: their cartoon graphics beat any game ever, hundreds of hours of fun, lore and theories, sound quality is amazing, great story, and it has Lumas :D

Mario galaxy 1 and 2 are the most nostalgic games of my entire childhood. I play Xbox now with games like cod and the batman ark ham games. I still haven't upgraded from the wii for the Nintendo. If they announced a galaxy 3 I would 100% buy the newest console.

I remember I played SMG2 for the first time when I was 8 I think, after it just came out. I LOVED that game. The music makes me tear up to this day. The only downside was that, being like 8, I sucked at it and couldn't get any green stars.
