Great video! QQ how do you implement the Dan susuki QR solution using a moza QR? do you also have it connected to a moza base? I just did my first DIY build (the pokornyi GTE PRO V1 BIG BOY) and i was looking into using the QR from Dan but this is my main blocker.
Thanks for the feedback. So if you are using Moza, this solution likely won’t work for you. It is really intended for those without a Moza, Simagic or Asetek base. Moza uses a proprietary protocol. So it would not align and transfer both data and power.
Nice wheel, question. I built my wheel to have the second set of thumb encoders, is the aluminum housing thicker than the printed ones? On my version, the space just barely allowed for the encoders.
Yes it is thicker and you’d have to drill thru it. You may be able to add, but it would be a tight fit for sure. I thought about doing that for the 3D printed one. I may do that for my friends.
Hi Ray, thanks so much for the HYP-R build videos. I am planning to build it myself but I am a bit hesitant about the aluminum version as of the significant price difference to the 3D-printed version. Is there despite the shifters any functional benefit that comes from going to aluminum? Is there less flex with the aluminum body? Thanks so much and best regards, Freddy
Hey Freddy. So it definitely is much better quality and far more rigid. But id say if that doesn't matter than build it 3D printed is a great option. If you have a 3D printer or use my Sponsor SimulationRUs you can save a TON of cash. It is lighter and you won't have any issues. It's nice in 3D, it's premium in Aluminum. No flex, bending and is rock solid.
Currently have this with all 3D printed parts. Tested for 5-6 months and its been perfect. Now i want to do a V2 like you've said. Waiting for the aliuminum ckutches then i'll be upgrading.
Same here. 3D parts work just fine. This just takes it from DIY to Premium. It’s like a totally new wheel. I’ll get the clutches too. Totally can’t wait.
New fan. Just getting into Sim Racing, current PC hardware enthusiast. Learning to DIY. Maybe I'll pick a wheel and have you build it. :) Or maybe I'll start a RUclips channel and try to replicate your success. Keep at it!
Hey mare. Glad you are here. Welcome to Sim Racing. DIY is awesome and I think you will love it. Of course I'll build it. Or help you do it. I am here to help. If you have discord, join me and the buddies. We have fun and are silly. Thanks man. You have my support.
Hey mate, thanks for the feedback. So I am using the Dan Suzuki QR update. He makes PCB's that can be used in a hybrid wireless model. Essentially, you connect the base side PCB to a powered USB. Then the wheel to the wheelside PCB and you connect your wheel and "wireless" functionality. Check out his channel and discord for help. He is currently working on his upgraded version of this.
Well you have do many options. Depends on budget and whether you want an ecosystem or top of the line. I have a VRS wheelbase and love it. Simagic and Asetek are good and Simucube is the gold standard to me. What’s your budget?
Oh that’s a good sum of money. VRS is best bang for buck but requires a lil extra. I love it but not the simplest with box, 2 cables but software is much better. Asetek and Simagic are nice. Both have good bundles too. Are you close to a Microcenter?
@@grayzedynamicsNo, I was waiting for the new Microcenter location in Charlotte, NC, to open. I live in SC, and the grand opening was supposed to be in May 2025, but now there is a delay. I went on the VRS website yesterday. The wheelbase and mount are in stock; however, the hub adapter and quick-release are out of stock. I will check out the Asetek and Simagic , because going to Duluth, GA., is drivable for me. Thanks again for your response.
Ive been following your videos since I saw your BavarianSimTec videos and I like to think of this series as your decent into simracing madness just surrounded by more and more high end custom wheels, normies cant understand how a man can need this many wheels, but we get it! 😂 Brilliant stuff!
Thanks for tuning in mate. I appreciate the follow and the feedback. Dude, I never thought I’d ever be THAT guy but it has taken me by storm. Especially the DIY area of sim racing. It’s maddening for sure but hey glad somebody gets my madness and obsession. 😂
I honestly think I just screwed them down with the original nut and it worked. I do have some spacers from other builds, but additionally, when you get the new files from PE, you can get the new adapter to use your current buttons.

Most welcome mate. Glad I could help.

Just finished mine. I did the carbon back while I wait on my aluminum pieces on back order.
Oh nice. The wheel is great.
Great video, lots of good info!
Thx Mate. Glad it was helpful. Hit me up if you ever need anything. :)

Hi great video! I noted a PCB on the QR. Are you able to use this thing wirelessly? If so can you share what you did? thanks

This is what i needed to know. Thanks for replying!
My wheelbase budget is 1000.00

Thanks as always man.

Love this wheel! Looks awesome!
It absolutely is.
What spacers did you get for the rear buttons?
I honestly think I just screwed them down with the original nut and it worked. I do have some spacers from other builds, but additionally, when you get the new files from PE, you can get the new adapter to use your current buttons.
