I agree. I recently realised this (preparation) is the major clue to anything. I was very prepared (i thought of what they might ask me, i also prepared talking about me in a fluent way), and also had passed the technical home-tasks successfully, and in the interview i was acting relaxed and talked a lot, i wasn't tense. That was a revelation! And you're right, i prepared for 4-8 hours. Sounds ridiculous, but it works. Try to think of everything (specific to this job) that they might ask, then prepare the answers and tell them fluently. That will take the nervousness away.

Hi Don, Thank you so much for your educational channel. I learned a lot from your videos. I have been looking for a job for a few months and thankfully I had 2-3 interviews with some great companies. I am an experienced and highly skilled person with some college degree in manufacturing filed, but I am losing lots of job opportunities because English is my second language and I can't express myself effectively enough to impress the hiring managers especially over the phone interviews. I am a professional technician with a rich resume but I'm not getting good results only because of my language. I get very nervous and lose all my words and confident during the phone call. I am sure I can do better in a face-to-face interview. I am very disappointed and frustrated for losing all these great opportunities. Is it ok to ask recruiters to have a in-person interview?

Wow don I have just discovered your videos as I have this new thing where I am psyching myself out about going for an interview it's so silly. I have been for many in my life and I've pretty much gotten every Job I've interviewed for I'm only 26. I don't think I'm even that bad I think it's just low self esteem and worrying that these people are full on judging me negatively. How do you not think that interviewers are these scary people on pedestals? Cause I swear that's what I convince myself lol

Any job interview you could get is hard nowadays because you have to submit your resume and cover letter online and you have to wait sooner or later in order to be call up

After asking for more clarification on how i could improve myself for the future, it was messaged, that they couldnt give more insight on this, but that they would be grateful, if i would consider them for their future roles (those that eventually will have to be filled in the newly formed team.) From your experience, is it likely that this first "no" could still lead to a "yes" in the future? How reliable are those (not really) "promises"? Da Far- Thanks for watching. When it comes to a "no," sometimes yes, there may be more opportunities down the road at that company. They may have been looking for a specific person for the team, but there may be other roles in the company that you could provide. I would continue to follow-up with the company every couple of months to see if they have any new opportunity that you may fit. Best, Don

Just be yourself. As a business owner, I always pass on applicants that seem pretentious. You can so easily talk yourself right out of a job, lol In case you missed it, "Just be yourself".
@@cu806 The more you talk, the more you reveal about yourself. You never want to say any more than you have to. When people start talking to me about things I dont care about, it is wasting my time and it can be distracting. Just answer the questions directly, and honestly. I actually hired a guy that wotkd at a crappy restaurant and dint have much training, but he stayed there three years. He said their food sucked and the joint was a dive, and he knew he couldnt get anywhere with his life by staying there. I hired him. One I turned down once was bragging and bull shitting. I ended the interview quickly and marked his application as a "never hire".
@@cu806 As far as i understood it, Mister Ryan was looking more to answer behavioral questions, rather than expertise. An applicant who, eventhough the product he represented was not to his personal liking, gave his best for a long amount of time - and has a realistic vision of his future (and the need of changing things in his life because of this realistic view) is even in my non-recruiter eyes a far more benefitial employee, than someone who "braggs" and "bullshits" around :)

I just skipped a job interview 5 mins ago, literally left because I was so nervous. All the preparation and writing I did was in vain. So frustrated!

I didn't eat or sleep for a week before my interview. Prepared every day for a week. Still fluffed it. Was so embarrassed when I got the feedback.
