This is interesting and pleased to see the video after supporting the first one all that time ago! Great job and I applaud your drive to help the community. I guess the question for me is what it gains you over and above the JoyeAuto or similar system with PCM 3.1. DAB is certainly a very nice to have, and the screen is higher resolution, but ultimately I think that's it? I'm pretty happy with JoyeAuto + PCM 3.1. The quality through the Aux is bad, but I just use wireless carplay and then play music through the iPod USB connection. I'm guessing the total cost of PCM 4 will be 3-4 times the price of the £400 JoyeAuto kit (the PCM 4 alone is circa £1,200 on ebay). Have I missed something?
Thanks for your comment and positive feedback. I've used both extensively so I'll start by saying the add on boards aren't bad solutions, the issue they all have is that they are held back by the pcm itself. The visuals are quite poor, the touch screen functionality doesn't support how the apps work now, and reliability often isn't up to OEM standard. ( I recall having to reboot very occasionally). However, the worst thing for me is that they all feel like add ons, it just doesn't feel like it belongs. Whether it be the sound quality, the way to switch between inputs, transfer of data to the cluster, it just never feels very smooth. Your workaround for example to get decent sound isn't ideal and the add on mic solutions aren't ideal either. Pcm4 on the other hand, the interface feels more like your modern smart phone, it has a bigger higher res screen so you can clearly see the data when you have split screen and it sounds the same on all inputs. It's fully integrated, fully reliable and feels like an OEM solution, using the existing microphone and without the need for a box or connection to the fuse board. I would say your perception of the price to do this is quite high, this is why I offer support, and remember PCM4 can add value to your car or be taken out when you are done and sold on as a kit. At some point the Pcm3 will stop working, the HDD has a shelf life and then it will need to be cloaned and converted to SD, that also costs money.

Hi any idea as to a cost to complete the upgrade
What front lip do you have?
@@cryptic_197 I don't have any lip
Will this work for the cdr 31?
@@Carsrlifepnw yes it's the best and easiest to do. Huge upside.
I have a 2015 981. How much did it cost?
Email for a quote.
@TDS981 thanks but I'm in Canada
Not a problem can supply and support the installation.
Could this work in 997.2 ?
@@robertchanon2694 unlikely. It probably wouldn't fit.
Was sat here getting all excited then remembered my Cayenne has Bose :(
😭 can be done just more expensive, talk to a local audio expert about it.
Did you lower the car? Looks lower than before.. X73?
Very well spotted, update on that coming 🔜
@@TDS981 Nice! Looking forward to the update. I'm thinking about X73 springs on my PASM suspension
@@kjdewolff then you will enjoy watching me do the same
@@TDS981 Can't wait!
@@TDS981 When are you planning to upload the x73 video?
If there is ever an installer in Melbourne, Australia who wants to do it for me let me know. I can't even change a pucture on my bicycle, there's no way I could do this.
I find your lack of faith disturbing 🤚🏼
Sure there will be someone with the software the rest isn't so bad.
@@TDS981 Honeslty mate I'm like "Frank Spencer" I stuff everything up. Hahahahahaha
@@_LeeTurner ooh Betty
@@TDS981 yep 😂😂😂😂😂
have you given up/
A new video is coming very soon, and I'll upload from time to time but the majority of my spare time is now focused on pcm4 support and installations.
'PromoSM'
Is there any cons or lost of features upgrading from a pcm3.1 to pcm4 in a gt3rs 991.1? Thanks
Just one - we lose the OEM maps page in the cluster, we maintain the directions but can't display the map, it's no big loss when you are using carplay or android auto instead.
