    Thanks for posting this video. I am using the same bike rack but I do use a ratchet strap around both bikes to limit unwanted movement. It shouldn't be necessary but it's a cheap fix and easy enough to use so overall I am happy with the rack.

    1-up redesigned the super duty rack 4/24, and the rack will now carry 100 lbs for each of 2 trays. More space between the bikes, and up to 5" tires with no spacer kit needed. Also, one handed release buttons to remove the bikes. Check them out, a bit pricey, but worth it for the heavy e-bikes.

      That's good to know, and thanks for sharing. I hope some of my feedback to them helped the redesign because the original design was definitely not eBike-friendly for bikes pushing the original weight limits. 👍🏻

    I have loved my 1Up Equip-D I bought in 2019. When I bought it we used 2 trays for our carbon fiber bikes and had no problem with the Equip-D max capacity at 50lbs per tray but last year we also got a pair of e-bikes that are both at 49lbs without the battery. We used it on our ebikes over the summer for short rides of a few miles and didn't see any problems with it carrying at the max rating of 50lbs but just recently over the holidays we drove from Chicago to Florida with the ebikes on back of Jeep with the 1up. After a couple hundred miles of highway driving we notice the bikes start to increasingly lean back (or away from vehicle towards the road) and started making me a little nervous that everytime we stopped for gas I had to realign the bikes and push the arms with force back towards the vehicle to stop the bikes from leaning. Once stopped in florida I tried to find some remedies like using velcro straps to secure bikes and tires to the rack better and gear ties to lock pedals together to reduce movement on both bikes but nothing fixed the issue and we had to stop numerous times on the drive back to re-adjust the 2 ebikes and make them perpendicular in the tray again. In hindsight I feel the trays support the max weight just fine but the arms the hold the wheels are to weak for heavy bikes. I wish I would have took pics or videos when this was happening as I have not been able to recreate the situation on short 5 mile drives since but have started looking at the QuickR Rack and the 1Up Super Duty and the Kuat2.0 Piston to replace this Equip D for our 50lb ebikes. I wouldnt trust it on another extended drive but I had absolutely no issues with it when carrying 2 lighter carbon fiber bikes on a 4000 mile drive.

      I completely understand what you mean. While we were driving home, it was very windy and the ebikes seemed to lean more and more. I carry tie-down straps in my truck from my dirt bike days, so I strapped the ebikes down to the rack as good as I could to give me peace of mind for the last 100+ miles of our trip.
      I totally agree that the trays hold the weight of the bikes with no problem. In fact, I'd be confident the trays could hold 80-90 pounds each. It's the bracket arms that concern me because they bent on mine. That's where I feel the 1-Up is deficient in it's design for bikes above 50 pounds, even though the Super Duty is supposed to hold up to 75 pounds per tray. Next trip I'll try 1-Up's suggestion to not press down so tightly on the wheel brackets and see how it does, but you can sure bet I'll be carrying the tie-down straps with me again. 🙂
      Thank you for sharing your experience with me and my viewers! 👍🏻

    Absolutely fantastic review. Just what I was looking for. I wanted to compare the Quik Rack Mach 2 tool less vs the Super Duty. Quik rack is $500 more. Wanted to see how much faster it can be installed and modified for 1 -2 bikes vs the Super Duty. It’s definitely faster but I don’t know if I can justify the crazy $1320 price (with tax and shipping). Plus, 1Up is the bigger company.
    Thanks again for the detailed and good camerawork and step by step instruction.

      Thank you for the positive feedback. I'm happy my review helped. I'm a 1-Up advocate, but I was a bit surprised the bracket arm bent the way it did. 1-Up customer service was great and prompt. To be honest, I haven't used the rack since I replaced the bracket arm, but I will most-assuredly will heed their advice about not tightening the bracket arm do tightly. It's a very simple and effective rack, and one commenter mentioned that 1-Up has improved their loading ramp since I bought mine.
      Best of luck! 👍🏻

    So far my Kuat piston pro has has performed flawlessly. Its expensive and has lights! And its heavy. I used a Dremel to shorten my Bixtrix back fender. I dont care what they say about these types of racks but those fenders need to be trimmed! With a Dremel you can do it without removing the tire. Yay! Also use straps for extra security. It also has a wide ramp thank goodness. Time will tell if the Kuat holds up but it sure looks great on my Maverick and the lights at night are awesome.

    Well that is some good information about the 1up not being the greatest for heavy ebikes. I though it would be easy to find a good ebike rack but I am right now sorry I sold my Rockymounts just because you could not use a ramp with it . Thanks much.

      Thank you for the positive feedback.
      The 1-Up is okay, but I was a bit surprised and disappointed that the mounting arm bent. Although, as 1-Up customer service suggested, me tightening so tightly likely contributed. I'll take that accountability, but I still expected a bit more.
      Someone commented that they have improved the ramp since last year, but I haven't seen one yet.
      Best of luck. 👍🏻

    A very informative review. Thanks for taking the time. Question for you: I've spent a couple weeks now doing the extra research you suggest to find a carrier that will accommodate my two 70 pound fat-tired ebikes and be approved for RV motorhome and towed vehicle use. The availability of a ramp woul be nice too. That narrows it down to only a few that I could find, the 1 up being one of them. Most of the others mentioned below in the comments don't meet my criteria. Have you found any that might fit the bill for me in my circumstance?

    • @twowheeltim
      @twowheeltim  6 месяцев назад +1

      I'm glad you found this helpful. Unfortunately, I personally have not found another rack that quite fits the bill.
      To be completely honest, if I could do it all over again I would have researched dual-motorcycle hitch racks on Amazon. The downside is that you would need to use tie-down straps to secure them, but when the rack arm started to bend on my 1-Up I needed to use my tie-down straps ANYWAY! 😆
      If the eBikes are big enough, and it sounds like yours are, tie-down straps are no big deal.
      And the good thing about motorcycle racks and Amazon are the price and return policy.
      If you're doing long RV trips, this could be a more secure alternative for you both physically and emotionally? 🤷🏼‍♂️
      Best wishes!

    I am curious to know, for those that own this rack, do your heavy ebikes wobble front to back while going down the road since there is no middle support like that on a hollywood type rack ? And if so have they ever touched the back of your vehicle ? that is the one thing which concerns me about this 1 up rack.

    • @twowheeltim
      @twowheeltim  Год назад

      What I noticed is that the ebikes tended to sag away from my truck, especially at freeway speeds, which is what led to the wheel bracket on the inner tray to bend. 1-Up's customer service suggested that it was likely that I tightened the brackets too tightly on the ebikes. They did warranty the bent bracket for me.
      If you check out the whole video, I provide me feedback and discuss my thoughts about whether or not I think it's the best rack for heavier bikes/ebikes. 👍🏻

      I'm glad you found it helpful. I really wanted to love the 1-Up Super Duty for the ebikes, but I just can't given that I have to handle it so gingerly.
      I do love 1-Up racks for all my non-electric bikes (bikes under 50 lbs.) and highly recommend them in that regard. However, that's why I had kind of bias when I made the purchase and discovered that with the ebikes pushing the Super Duty's individual tray's weight limit it kind of comes up short. 🤷🏼‍♂️

    Looking to upgrade my two 2016 Radrovers to Himiway cobra or cobra pro. Looking to upgrade from my Saris SuperClamp4 Freedom to 1Up; but, the Himiway ebikes are pushing 80-90lbs. Might have to look for a motorcycle rack?

    • @twowheeltim
      @twowheeltim  Год назад +1

      I like the 1-Up, but the wheel braces are just so thin. Are those weights with or without the batteries? My Ultra Beast 2 is 76 lbs without the batteries, so I definitely remove them before loading up.

    • @mrgold3591
      @mrgold3591 Год назад +2

      @@twowheeltim I'm leaning towards the QuikrStuff Mach 2 Bike Rack with the extra click-on attachment for 2 or 3 +70lbs ebikes. The single bike rack can hold 120lbs, the double can hold 240lbs, and 300lbs for the triple. That would more than enough for my ebikes and I don't have to remove anything (battery, suspension seat, rack bag, or panniers)

    • @twowheeltim
      @twowheeltim  Год назад +1

      I looked it up and it looks kind of similar to the 1-Up Super Duty. The 1-Up Super Duty says it will hold up to 240 lbs, but I found that the individual limits per tray are what's truly important. The rack and trays themselves are very solid and stable. It's the wheel bracket arms that are questionable.
      Since there are similarities, I would recommend doing some research to see if you can find reviews or comments on the stability of the wheel bracket arms when pushing the weight limits.
      I took 1-Up's 240 lb limit at face value and feel like it's just a marketing angle. I hope the Quikrstuff isn't doing the same.
      Best of luck. Feel free to post updates for any comment readers! 👍🏻

    Did you damage the rear fender with the rack, even with the pool noodle?

    • @twowheeltim
      @twowheeltim  10 месяцев назад

      No damage, but I realized the pool noodle wasn't the best idea because it was a bit too bulky and started bunching up under the pressure and movement. Over time, it likely would have worn through and damaged the fender. Therefore, I went ahead and ordered the version from 1-Up because they designed it pretty well and it doesn't wear through.

    The bikes being that close together is a real disappointment and seems like a major design flaw. Just space it out another inch or 2!

    • @twowheeltim
      @twowheeltim  9 месяцев назад +1

      The outermost tray is slightly higher, but not enough to prevent potential rubbing. Even one more inch would make a difference, but I suppose it would reduce the overall weight capacity slightly?
      Either way, and as I mentioned, I had bias toward 1-Up because they're great for regular bikes 50 lbs or less. I was definitely a bit disappointed and wish I would have shopped around a bit more. Live and learn, I guess. 🤷🏼‍♂️
