Berry does not get enough respect in these games, the guy wasn’t a bolder punching monster with his heart set on continuing his superior bloodline at all cost or a guy with no ability to drive a car that is dead set on chasing a spy with no redeeming characteristics about her while avoiding perpetuating the redfield blood line. Thanks to this he got over looked too much.
In the RE1 remake, there's a unique "Handling" animation for both the Winchester and STARS Assault Shotguns; but it only occurs if your fighting the Yawn, Plant 42, and Tyrant. Instead of Chris or Jill aiming from the hip, they will instead use the shoulder stock to steady their aim. This is nice detail because the enemies are much taller than the other BOW's.

Beautifully written! You'd think two standard pump action shotguns wouldn't be so special, but Resident Evil always manages to make even the most basic of weapons legendary in their own unique ways.

20 years since REmake. I still remember picking it up at Software etc and pouring over every detail. Remakes of this caliber were rare in those days, let alone a remake of a game only six years old at the time. Still one of the best and terrifying as well.
I really don't know how you could improve on this remake. Its still my favourite entry in the series. I suspect it will get the 3d treatment at some point but that won't necessarily improve the glorious atmosphere of this game.

considering the fact it got changed to be a model 1897 and it's engraving maybe a bit of retroactive lore maybe spencer got it during his time studying under miranda in the village considering the shotgun there is also a engraved model 1897 maybe the plates on the shotgun could be refit onto the new gun from what was left of the broken one salvaged what they could from the broken one and put it on a new version
That's a pretty good theory, As many weapons in RE8 are engraved. I could see Spencer purchased a custom engraved shotgun from a certain merchant as a souvenir and kept in the mansion.

Really great to see REmake given some love. My favourite video game of all time. I wrote a fanfict in 2003 that described Spencer down to his shoes including life support and 19th century wheelchair and seeing your thumbnail reminds me of that coincidence that's always given me a smile.
Surprised that Spencer didn't have a fancy Over and Under from a luxury gunsmith like Holland and Holland or Beretta now I think about it. Maybe he should have got himself a customised Browning Auto-5 or Remington M-1100 from Kendo & Kendo...

I kept using the mansion shotgun till I got Richard's semi-auto shotgun. Mansion got me out of a lot of sticky situations. Can't wait for the next video, whether it's the Sentinel 9 and Silver Ghost or the final Samurai Edge video.

I've always admired this shotgun, looks incredible! I didn't really realize until now that it looks like a hybrid of a pump-action and a lever-action rifle, interesting. Now I wanna go back and play the remake again, time for another Jill sandwich! :D
The combat knife being covered would easily give you several parts to it with how much you could cover however if I could choose one gun that's not been covered yet I'd like to see the spark shot one ofy favourite weapons with just how powerful it felt
I dont know if its just me, but when ever I play resident evil games and come across a shot gun, it always gives me a sense of hope and courage to continue playing, I always have that feeling that even if there are dangers lurking in the game i still have a fighting chance once I finally obtain that weapon 💪💪💪
We need more videos about Shotguns from RE series, it one of the iconic guns in the whole series. Reason is that shotguns in every RE series always feel like an "Upgrade" moment in the game, where you can finally ditch the handgun and blow the zombies and equalize the BOWs, even thought shells might be limited at the beginning, but having the shotgun make you feel "safer" from dying.

I am a huge fan of your videos, how they not only deepen the lore around these beloved games. But also that you take the time to explain the details of each firearm. And as a firearms enthusiast, I can really appreciate. SPeaking of, I can't be the only one who was bothered that the STARS Teams went in so under equipped? Carrying on them, only sidearms and no long guns such as ARs? And seeing as they were a special operations team like SWAT, I found this odd.
This is a fun series to watch. I love the added info that was obvious when playing the game initially…but clearly they put a lot of thought and creativity into the weapons available. Thanks for posting.
No shade towards the 870, but having the REmake version of the shotgun be a customized M97 makes way more sense. The thing was used in seven wars and was a trench rat's best friend. It's only logical that someone like Spencer would have such a beautifully engraved example hanging in a room meant to entertain and show-off to guests. I'm kinda bummed that it took us to Code Veronica before we got more historical firearms in the series. Village is chock full of them, but they aren't exactly historically accurate.
I love how since day one the way weapons work in RE never changed. Pistols keep you alive, Shotguns are high powered crowd control or individual obliteration, Magnums are high precision damage and nothing stops a rocket launcher.

Technically that would be the m870. This gun only appeared in the remake, the m870 was what you got in the original.

It's ok each team brought a shotgun with them and if they ran into any trouble they have a handy missle launcher ready for use in their helicopter.

A neat homage to the Spencer shotgun was the first shotgun in RE8 Village. Very similar in design and is also a M1897
I have a 1911 16 GA. takedown model 1897 this thing is a Winchester proof steel immortal same as it's 12 GA. brother AND I STILL LOVE IT.
That shotgun is one of the most iconic RE weapons.

I never thought about the fact that so many of the shotguns in the franchise were presented in that same framed pattern as in the first game.
This is a fun series to watch. I love the added info that was obvious when playing the game initially…but clearly they put a lot of thought and creativity into the weapons available. Thanks for posting.
No shade towards the 870, but having the REmake version of the shotgun be a customized M97 makes way more sense. The thing was used in seven wars and was a trench rat's best friend. It's only logical that someone like Spencer would have such a beautifully engraved example hanging in a room meant to entertain and show-off to guests.
I'm kinda bummed that it took us to Code Veronica before we got more historical firearms in the series. Village is chock full of them, but they aren't exactly historically accurate.

I love how since day one the way weapons work in RE never changed. Pistols keep you alive, Shotguns are high powered crowd control or individual obliteration, Magnums are high precision damage and nothing stops a rocket launcher.
Now this made my Saturday night a relaxing evening to enjoy. Great video as always Mr Kendo
