Raphael Saadiq is timeless. I saw him on a Tiny Desk concert from 2019 with Lucky Daye. He is also very gracious and humble. May God continue to bless this man to give us another 25 years of music. On a shallow note - whatever is in his water, I want it. Who would believe he is 55!
This internet was so dope. To hear his friends talk about him and the type of person he is. Makes me love him even more. His bday is the day before my dad’s. People used to speak about my dad the same way. ❤
the way Raphael talks about how Earth Wind and Fire saved his life. that's what his music did for me growing up forever a Raphael Saadiq fan and Tone Tony Toni
Raphael Saadiq has mastered his music for all generations. He loves his music, it’s his outlet, and a healing mechanism. Excellent interview Mr. Andre Younge.
Im a day one for the love of you fan! My mom and dad love The tonies too! I saw Them live last week in Durham and it was an EPIC BEAUTIFUL EXPERIENCE! I almost jumped off that balcony when i heard First of all im your man, second of all ...🙆🏽♀️(the extended version of Anniversary) he sounded like an angel! Raphael is the most BEAUTIFUL man ever!!❤❤
Best intro I have ever heard. What a beautiful interview. I was a radio host in college. They were my first interview in music. I just saw them at RUclips in Los Angeles. It was a magical vibe. I love Black people.
This was a really great conversation. I am from Oakland. I live in San Joaquin County now. I moved out of Oakland at 26 because I knew I had to.....I miss the people but I feel exactly what Raphael said about the town....always a special place in my heart for Oakland but something was calling me....I appreciate. The conversation too. I am a songwriter so everything said resonated especially about practice and desiring to play certain instruments because something in you says do it...timely very timely thanks for sharing
Wow we are so similar. This was an amazing interview. Thank you for sharing and being transparent. You are a beautiful person inside and out Raphael. Keep smiling its beautiful. It makes me think of the Chaka Khan song ..your smile so very happy, you look familiar. Reminds me of something goood I once felt. Thank you for being what I needed. I dreamed of someone like you ❤💞💫😍🤴🏾❤️🔥
Sorry but Adriane Younge is wrong at the 20:10 mark. Black culture always comes back to its roots. Gospel music is still well respected in every genre of Black music, same goes for African rhythms and vibes. We never forget us and we’ve always appreciated our music worldwide. It’s the reason dancehall and Afrobeat is loved by US Blacks and other Pan Africans worldwide. Why we can hear a rap song today that samples (tributes) up 2-3 black songs from 2-3 past generations. There’s no other group of people who do that.
I didn’t think it was possible, but I love this man even more now.
Raphael Saadiq is extremely underrated. There's no artist from the 80's, 90s and now that can touch him

I know right he has some great genes I guess

Did you ever meet Mr.Raphael Saadiq??
The connection between visitors of Westworld and Police is an unfortunate truth. Solid facts throughout this interview.

No, I’m perfect for him😂😂😂
As good of a talent as he is... if he focused on himself and not stealing from others.... He could be a genius.
Who’d he steal from?
Please elaborate.
