Raphael Saadiq has such great taste in music not to mention he's a legend himself 🙌🏾😍
I wish I could be his friend I love music too and I would love to show him my collection of music and what I know
I knew he was gonna have Prince in that bag.
You gotta have Prince
@@lateshiachilds3640 definitely
True
The Purple Yoda 💜
Yeah, but what is he holding and where in hell can I find it? lol
No matter what time it is, Raphael always looks so damn wholesome!
He does frfr
I could listen to his stories for 7 hours and 13 days.
Stone Rollin' is badass.
Me too
TILL THIS DAY!!!
Didn't even know this video existed til now, a couple years later after it was posted, but I grew up in the same Sacramento neighborhood he moved to after he left Oakland. This was in the late '80s-early '90s (when he already made a name for himself and his music) all the way to the late 90s-early '00s. There was a large park in the middle of this neighborhood that had a basketball court where me, my brothers, and all the young people or hoopers in the area would play street ball. The first day I ever saw him there, was probably the first time he ever came to the court. He walked up sporting a dope coat, holding a grey looking brick that I would soon find out was a mobile phone -- I was in elementary school so I never seen one of those in person before that. I don't think he played that first time, but he would often come and hoop with us and the dude had game, he was competitive, and one of the nicest people too. One of the funniest guys ever, and a great storyteller. The stories he had were so fascinating, and like you alluded to, I could easily listen to them for a while. He moved to Los Angeles a long time ago and made that more of his home-base so I haven't talked to him in many years, but homie doesn't age so if i ever bump into him again I'm sure everything won't be too different lol
Shoutout to The Winans! Detroit’s music is timeless
Oh yeah
I look forward to that Robert Glasper collab🙌🏾
Been listening to Raphael Saadiq since TonyToniTone' in 1988 with "Little Walter" & "BabyDoll". A true master of songwriting and production with the Sly Stone genius of minimalist classics, always hits the right notes. Jimmy Lee is another slamming album harking back to Instant Vintage.
Back in 1985 , got the Kate Bush marble vinyl of Hounds Of Love. Classic LP. Cool to hear Prince versions of his songs !
My black love 🖤 "in my head 🖤🖤🖤🤎🤎🤎
Respect this man! Raphael still got it after all these years and the new music is incredible!
Oh my, when you’re randomly taken to music school ❤️
He is so fine, I was blushing the whole time
Motown music ( Detroit sound) is always in every musician’s personal music library! #❤Raphael. #The Winans#Marvin Gaye
That R. Kelly comment/slight diss, is 100% facts. Go back and listen to that or any other Winans albums and see how much Kels "borrowed" from Marvin.
“I love Kate Bush.”
But do you love her as much as Big Boi?
No! Nei! Nē!
Not even close
No probably not, i just saw the big boi one that is hilarious
So cute, it seemed as he felt a little shy because he bought too much ❤️ Could watch these every day - so beautiful and inspiring.
You could never buy to many albums I'm the same way when I go to CD stores.
Lateshia Childs Absolutely.
I love these little videos, im a huge Tony Toni tone/ Raphael Saadiq fan. I have to visit this music store I'm just 2 hours away I love music. I love Raphael music choices especially Prince that is my man and The Winans.
I need go start collecting vinyls I have 300 plus CDs.
Yesss! One of the best musicians of the last 20 years🖤🖤 Such an underrated talent
Raphael definitely knows great music. These are timeless artists and so is he.
Instant Vintage a classic
Favorite album ever
I play that album literally 4 to 7 times a week 😂😂😂 one of my fav albums
I love all of them but Stone Rollin is my top favorite
Still sounds amazing to this day!
“Body Parts” and “Skyy, Can You Feel Me”…🔥🔥🔥🔥
Raphael Saadiq is the greatest!!! Genius musician
Raphael is my musical soulmate💕
Mine too, I would love to hang out with him for a full week and talk about music. I collect CDs I would love to show him my collection.
He is dripping appeal everywhere
Whip appeal , and all the other appeals . That voice that style
Yesss
Tony Toni Tone has done it again...
Whats not to love about SADDIQ 😍
Exactly
He picked up TWO drake vinyl and was like 'nah'.
I recognized the Gray/black album cover of Drake. I'm not a Drake fan I did download the album and waste of download for a few songs I like. I dont blame Raphael.
😂😂
Love him.
Love the Kamasi Washington joint.
I love his diverse musical palette. I'll be checking out some of his choices. Thanks Raphael for shouting out Chicago Blues!
Cool guy with great taste. Back in the 90s when Tony,Toni,Tone released “Let’s Get Down” I saw it on mtv and loved it. It didn’t get released straight away in the UK so I must have been the only white teenager in this rural town who got the local record shop - Andy’s Records,to order me it in from the US on CD single! Still got it too, great song.
What a cool guy. What a cool selection
I love this guy! One of the greatest musicians! Thank you! If you don't know him please go to search his music
Thx for the tip Cindy! I'll do just that! Up to now, i only know The Backstreet Boys and Slipknot.
He needs to tour with the fellas again
Scot Inman he is. Has a show on the 22nd. They’re back together
Everyone keep saying that I love him solo too. Although Tony Toni Tone is one of my favorite groups
Oakland 11/27/19 wit Hammer!
Solid. Thank you Amoeba!!!
Tony Toni Tone has done it again! Great episode here.
Hahaha it feels good
Keep doin what u do. Luv your music.
Hi Raphael. I would have loved to see or hear Marvin Gaye cover the song "full is smoke" by Christón 😉
Definitely one of my favorites! Genius!
The best part of having these vids on YT is that I can pop open another page and checkout what the artists are picking up. Keep that stream moving.
Him talking and acting like that at the very end did something to me 👀😩😊🙃
another great video by amoeba
*💚Canvas - Glasper! Bought that same album from Amoeba! Just listened to it yesterday!💚*
Who else has IGOR on vinyl?
I do
Interesting picks. Good stuff.
Superfreak Physique like Raphael Saadiq , Baby Love The Ganja leaf Everyday Of The Week!

This brother's music taste is incredible, could tell he's a taurus, love him and his band the Toni's, just left out stevie another taurus, you could tell he's a genius by his taste❤
Genius songwriter and all that other stuff.
I'd love to dig through his music collection
That lil Wayne comment made me giggle 😊😊
best bag of ALL TIME
Raphael should reform Lucy Pearl, so underrated.
He should also collaborate again with Q Tip, 'Get Involved' was dope
It amazes me how many R&B and hip hop artists like Kate Bush. It’s great.
I know! She's genius for sure
We played that Winans album EVERY DAY!!!!!!
This man is so beautiful and talented 😍
Extra dope.
A lil R. Kelly dis Saddiq. Saying Kelly "stole" his vocal style from Marvin Winans is a bold statement....slick lol
They used to say aaron hall
I noticed that too, he dissed R. Kelly in another interview it was a Sirus XM interview.
@@maedelelawhorn9738 I'm surprised he didnt mentioned Aaron too.
Some 11 people thumbs down this, how 😳. Love me some Raphael 😊
Great picks. Seems like such a short clip.
It need to be 10 minutes I love hearing him talk about music he love
I like that he is wearing a Ricky and Morty shirt! You can tell he is a fan of the show after they featured the song "Feels good" in one of the episodes.
No..Ray!! I'm glad you didn't stay in the South more so you wouldn't have that "country twang". Your voice is perfect!! 🙌🏾
Lol
Kate Bush, he called it 2022
It's the S A double D I Q, yo he want to get involved wit you!
My song
Omg! Kate Bush??!!!! I love her!!!!
Fuck yeah holly rock!
Invite Arca
What is the song of Prince?
nothing compares off the 'prince originals'
Really thought he'd be talking about shuggie otis at some point!
Interesting
The fact that Raphael freakin picked out IGOR makes me wanna cry a river
🍼
Eventually something valuable
🎤 RAPHAEL SADDIQ ⚫R & B Said🎵
I like your hat. May I have it??
Still fine, voice still in tact, and he watches Rick and Morty..come on man😩💕
Kelsey Powell 😂 hurting with you, he’s just everything really, why! 😩
I would love to hang out with Raphael for a week we would have so much fun. He seem like a cool fun guy.
@@lateshiachilds3640 In the 90s, he had a house in the same neighborhood I grew up in, and he would often come ball with us at the basketball court in the neighborhood park. He was always cool with us, we treated him no different than anyone else. He told good stories, and was super funny. There was this one time where he took me, my brother and some friends after playing basketball in his new VW Bug (this was when the revamp of the VW Bug just hit and it was the big thing at the time) to get some burgers at a local spot. He was particularly in a good mood that day and told some wild stories. He was always dripping with personality...I haven't talked to him many years since he moved but he still looks the same haha
Ok now were talking. Bay Area flavor.
Respect ray
Mr lotter Elmhurst lol
Bambushka???
babooshka by kate bush...it's an awesome song, very catchy
😂😂😂That anchorman's name "Dick Shoemaker"!!
I know he's the Godfather of Neo Soul,
*but was he Tony, Toni or Tone?*
Tonéyi
Neither was either
this man definitely doesn't like Kenny Rogers!! i
Angel Olsen
Please!
Kamasi W is beyond overrated. Hype man number one. Everything he's trying to do was already done and done better in the 60's and 70's.
DuUUUUUUUUUUUUUllllllllllll picks here . Main of the stream. But the tepid, light....sells !
Nobody cares if you're first
Ooh, i do, i do!
I would drink that impossibility BEAUTIFUL man's bathtub water with a crazy straw SHEESH❤️🔥❤️🔥🥰😍😍😍🤩🤩🤩🤴🏾🎶
In London walking to a 7/11 🤔
Some people are effortlessly cool and some people try hard.., Saadiq, I'm sorry sir but this video exudes so much of you trying to be cool :(
-10 points for that shirt
good guy though
Who ?
Classic debut lp.
That's a different musical act.
He is so different I 💘 his style just laid back regardless
