  • Ray has been in my life since I was 13 yo and was the one who got me started with sneakers. I never understood why he decided to develop my sneaker habit. Come to find out, there is a deeper meaning behind the sneakers I enjoy. This is not about collection. This is about a depth that I didn't realize was there. What happened to me as a teenager on a dark street influenced my Nike collection more than I had realized. The conversation between myself and Ray was something we both enjoyed as we explored our own childhoods and life.

What a beautiful conversation between these two men. Raphael offered such thoughtful perspective and I could tell it was clarifying and deeply affirming! Whenever your can look at with a different lens, it can only help you grow.

The way you describe your passion on your shoe collection, how much they have value to your life similar to a hobby while you tied that with a loss or grief of those memorabilia given to you by the people that are important in your life. The relationship between you and your uncleSaadiq touched my sole(SOUL). Really did.

Raphael clearly loves this guy, his nephew, since knowing him as a child who is now a successful physician. And Raphael is very patient and grounded. That was a long sneaker story and Cedric held on to those feelings, about who took the sneakers, maybe dad, for a long time. Nice relationship to see. Great.

My very first pair of basketball shoes were the same ones. I had the blue and white ones.
True story. The Jordan's were a gift from a guy I was dating in my junior year in high school. My mother made me give them back😤 AND she MADE me break up him😤. I WAS SOOO mad at my mother back then. I continued school, asked my dad if I could get a job and he said yes. He singned my work permit and he picked me up every night from work. I spent all my checks on basketball shoes. 🤣
