"k listen....shut up" Kenny G lol.
Glasper is a future legend and one of my favorite jazz pianists. Also, his appreciation for and understanding of Dilla's music can be heard and felt in his playing.
he a current legend homie
Yessssssssss! Keep the jazz folks coming!
cool Miles/Herbie story
glasper is the man. much love.
Daaaaaaamn I wish I could take Rob G's class
Yes!!! thanks for having mr. glasper loved the song he did with Erykah Badu, would love to see more Jazz musicians would love to see Jon Batiste and Esperanza Spalding. 😁
This was by far one of the best ones I've seen so far. Please get more musicians like this!
Man, people always dump on Miles Smiles, and it's one of my favorites. So nice to hear his thoughts on it. Also really cool to hear him and Mos were into Bad Brains.
this dude is so talented. saw him live at the blue note back in june with his trio, he killed it
From Kenny G to Bad Brains! 🤣
I went to Amoeba trying to bump into him. My favorite Houston Artist! 👌🙈
More artists like this pleaseeeeee! Maybe stop a little with the indy/hipster bands and start getting some others like RG... anything else would be pretty nice
David Villarreal everyone is fine they just need to stop by the store sometime lol
The Earl Sweatshirt/ Sammiyam one is great too if you haven't seen it.
I LOVE jazz... but Bad Brains was my favourite pick here
My absolute favorite artist. Thank you!
Gotta see this man live at some point in my lifetime.
Torin Guest he's very funny and charismatic.
He plays very frequently. If you are anywhere near NYC you'll see him soon.
Seven Minaya I saw the Chick Corea trio here in Toronto last year at our jazz festival. It was my first jazz show and I was completely blown away. Needless to say I'm itching for another great jazz concert. I just hope he has the audience here.
Torin Guest too bad he doesn't tour with Chris Dave anymore but his current band is still dope...
it's absolutely wild
Please get more Jazz artists!!!
Love him 💕
Awesome!! thanks, such a talent & a cool dude too
It's my faforite what's in my bag so far, awesome records and this man is a lovely character
Great guy, great musician, great taste in music
My favorite musician!
Just saw him live recently and it was amazing. Definitely deserves more attention.
Yes! Miles Smiles is brilliance!
What a great artist I need his CD, I love these clips and learning about music artist love to purchase
I'm surprised he didn't mention that Bad Brains were a jazz fusion band before they became a hardcore band (arguably the first or second). I love that they throw roots reggae and dub in there sometimes too.
Robert is awesome!
the kenny g love cracks me up! good times.
Robert is so dope!!!
This guy is a treat to the music world!
LOVE that shirt ya rocking ROB GLASS!
it's sad that most people don't know who this cat is.
Dothethird I don't know him... but is it actually sad? Every person just has different interests :)
Dothethird he's probably one of the most well-known jazz artist right now. If they don't know him they may not like his brand of jazz or the type of hip hop and rnb he have played on, which is not sad.
Not sad at all, just different tastes of music. Robert Glasper is all over the place everyone that's interested in jazz knows him for sure
Dothethird Hi. I don't think it's sad that "most" people don't know who dude is. Those who know, know. Those who don't, don't. It is what it is.
well, you know him now
THE KING!
1:38 - This was his Little Richard moment: a jazz musician with a rock n' roll attitude.
Yaay! Finally!!
Yay!!!
kenny g! hahah
His perfect pitch is so satisfying going into the music bits
Robert, I tried to emulate the G Man myself. But you're right, he can play. You're probably only the second respected jazz artist I've heard admit that they like him. Props. I respect you even more now.
G Force was a wicked album produced by Kashif...
Yup jus got da Miles Davis Robert Glasper on Wax...cnt wait 2 open/listen!
Miles' second great quartet is my favorite group of all time
I love his playing on Common's Black America Again. Great player.
That Mos Def quote is hilarious: "Mos, you need to rap, people came here to hear you rap!:
Man, I can relate to pops playing music in the garage! That's where my Dad played his too!
He’s one of those people who is naturally really funny and witty
I come back daily just to watch the comment he makes at 2:49
Man, I love Amoeba records and "What's In My Bag?" Mr. Glasper's video might be my favorite! Love the Herbie Hancock anecdote...
Genio
The Old Waldorf was the place to be back in the day. Remember seeing Pleasure with the great Nathaniel Phillips and many other amazing shows.
One of the City's top venues.
Would have been perfect for Robert Glasper .
That compilation may have some interesting stuff on it .
lmao who would've known that Robert Glasper was a kenny g fan
Nice picks
the best terbaik
dang j dilla hangout probably had some mad inspiration after that.
I reckon in my past life I was a famous black Jazz musician. I can just feel it.
💜
6:16 that dude that looks like Thundercat is the late great Marvin Isley. His bass lines were an integral part of the Isleys' mid-'70s sound 🔥
Yo he had Bad Brains! That's so cool.
Off the wall is my fave mj song!
I'm enjoying this video. I wonder are we related. I don't know who my family is on my dad side. The Glaspers..
Wish I could see you play. My nephew is a misician. Yeah bass guitar .
Kenny G's first few albums were funky. He didn't get sappy until later. Don't sleep. lol.
unprogrammedminds Kenny G was the shit first few albums
Yes. When he was with Kashif.
funny guy....and a jazz dude who likes bad brains! very entertaining. I get all my music tips from this channel. unfortunately there ain't no amoeba stores in my hemisphere...
+AndyQ awesome! Thanks for watching!
Im surprised he didn't talk about the Aaron Hall album he picked up in the intro video. That had some of my favorite Jazz orchestral pieces in contemporary R&B.
Francis Bawasanta Interesting observation. I own that album but never gave it a good listen. Will do sometime this week.
@@michelleDAjourno Don't be afraid (sex you down some mo version) amazing to me.
Hi hubby!!!!😘
love the Fact that he did not hate on Kenny G...Class act...
If Robert Glasper thought Kenny G. is baddass,
No need to think otherwise.
Robert Glasper feat. Kenny G. Can I get an amen?
What are the name of the glasses he is wearing?......cool
Just in case anyone here hasn't seen the photo of Kenny G meeting Miles Davis, google that.
what chordal synth patch is that on that Erykah Badu track at the end??!
When he said "oh, Bad Brains" my mind literally freaked. But then I calmed, and was like, "y'all its cool".
That anecdote about herbie hancock was really interesting
Love Robert, and happy for your inspiration, but you gotta keep that stuff private.
What was that outro song?
What's the ending song?
What's the song on Kenny G 2:26?
*pulls a Kenny G record* "okay lemme explain, shut up" lmaooo
Bring on Twin Peaks (the band) !!!!!!!
first song name?
I wonder if in his class about Miles Davis, if he includes some of the fusion offshoots like Chick Corea's Return to Forever and John McLaughlin's Mahavishnu Orchestra.
Funny you should say that because his playing always reminds me of the "Return to Forever" album
allmediareviews.blogspot.com those albums introduced me intro a new world man, first jazz fusion I ever heard
oh cool to hear! there's a a lot of great stuff in that genre, namely from the 70's.
the first "jazz" album I've ever had lol
Wouldn’t be surprised if Thundercat was a low key vampire hiding in the Isley Brothers, how else did he get so good
Oh so that's what he meant by "don't play the bottom notes" makes sense
King Miles and Herbie
whats the song at the end of the video? with the fluit..
Maiysha Robert Glasper feat. Erykah Badu
Interesting
what's the song at the beginning?
person906 "this is not fear" by the robert glasper experiment
what's the bad brains song at 3:42?
big takeover
get Sara Bareilles on this show ASAP!
Laugh all you want! You ain't laughing when you look at his bank account!! Keep getting them checks, Kenny G!!
good luck teaching at NYU, mon prof
Robby G
someday, a musician will be teaching a class on Robert Glasper. Bet money.
Is he Dela?
love all these records except kenny g lmao. bad brains and miles is a dope mix going from tape to tape
M I L E S M I L E S
Intro tune ?!?!?
'This Is Not Fear' by The Robert Glasper Experience, from the album 'ArtScience'
love this dud but I expecte way better picks than this, never heard anyone say Miles Smiles was there fave Miles album im gonna have to get into that album again Bitches Brew and On The Corner have always been my faves just coz there so different
I mean his fusion is beautiful, but Miles Smiles is probably one of his best straight ahead jazz records. Tony Williams was a monster.
ultrahero2115 im not that familiar with it im gonna listen properly I adore Herbie Hancock so it should be great
Miles Smiles is one of Miles' greatest albums! Give it a listen...a bunch listens.
Im a big "Miles Smiles" fan, with that super great band, one of his best bands, and the songs on the album are very tuneful. "Freedom Jazz Dance", "Footprints" and "Gingerbread Boy" among others, all great songs, played with that free style that particular band had!
likes kenny g, wise man
Kenny G hahahaha
Its true that most musicians don't rate Kenny G. And its also true that Kenny G's bank account is bigger than most musicians.
forgive my ignorance, but why so much kenny g criticism?
