I was a junior at San Pedro High in 1987. I very fondly remember when they filmed this. My wife was an extra in the movie. She was captain of the drill team back then. The school looked exactly the same up until they started these renovations a couple years ago. Thanks for this video. What a flash back.
I've always loved this movie, it's def my favorite John Hughes high school movie from the 80's. The soundtrack is also one of the best movie soundtracks of the day. Great video Kurt, I like how you took the advice and show the movie clip first then the current shot. Keep it up!
I was working at the LA County Museum of Art when they filmed the scenes inside. This was August of 1986. The film shows a different museum on the outside, maybe the Getty. The scenes were filmed in the Ahmanson building which has been demolished. Where Duncan greets them was the employee entrance which at the time was off of Ogden Dr.
One of my all time favorite movies. How could Keith not see Watts was the right one all along? Great story, great soundtrack, great locations. Best 80s movie. Best coming of age movie.
This was my movie bro. Hahah. I am a drummer ..well i was for 27 years. Up til 05 ish. I used to love Watts character. The 80s were great. Movies made sense.
Kurt, you really need investors to grant you a budget to do this and build a team out to help you. You do such an amazing job narrating and researching, etc. Thank you for what you do!
My favourite Hughes movie. I remember as a kid in the 90s watching the ending as the credits roll, thinking, I wonder where that street is. Thanks for another great video.
Danke Dir!!!
Dude your Suzuki Samuri is totally awesome!! 😎☀🌴 Alright Hamilton! I know! That scene where Duncan shows up at Hardy's party is one of the best scenes of the movie. I agree.
In LA they tear down so many places & rebuild which is a good thing to keep things fresh. You are my favorite vlogger when it comes to 80’s filming locations. Thank You 🙏 for all your hard work & research to find all these locations!!!!
Great 80's flick, yes John Hughes rarely filmed outside of Chicago! Hardy reminds me of Stef! The rich jerk. ( as I was writing this you just said that also! LOL) 80's minds think alike I guess...😎 very cool!
Incredible work as usual Kurt simply amazing but also to mention, Hardy’s first girlfriend was Chynna Phillips from the 80’s girl group Wilson Phillips (Hold On)
i was going to san pedro high school when they filmed this movie there. well they filmed it right after school got out for summer break. i auditioned to be an extra in the movie, yes all the kids in the background were students from the school, but i never heard back from anyone about that...
Thanks for the flashbacks-Saw this in the theatre when it came out, such a great movie and soundtrack! Pretty In Pink is still my all time fave, but SKOW is pretty solid!
Another great video 👍 I also wanted to say how cool your Samurai is 👌. I was a Suzuki Tech BITD and I used to work on them. Here in Australia they were called a Suzuki Sierra Keep up the great work and bring on the filming locations for Fast Times & Boogie Nights 😎
I don’t know what took me so long to find your channel. I started a channel of my own. All about Movies, music and Toy collecting. Being such a big movie fan I have always been on the hunt for good movie location RUclipsrs. You my friend are Amazing. I’ve been hopping around your channel binge watching some of my favorites movie locations for 3 days now. I’m barely sleeping. I’ve watched many RUclipsrs try to entertain and authenticate these shots. You absolutely nail it. Excellent work!!! This stuff drags me right back to my childhood. I lived at the movie theater in the late 80’s early 90’s. I’d save my lunch money and starve myself just to catch a flick every day after school. I’m just flawed by how precise you are……Awsome
Hardee's house on South Hudson sold for $9.3 million last August! 9,100 square feet and a pool in the back! ;-) Love this new streak of Filming location vids .. they're all great!
Thank you so much. Absolutely loved this film and always thought it was the best american high school movie. Soundtrack included the March Violets and Propoganda and I watch it at least twice a year even now. you did a great job and thank you for sharing - loved it !!!!!!
Another awesome vid! The 80s had a magic about them that only one who grew up then could understand! RIP John Hughes! Was thinking about another movie that would be fun: three o’clock high!
At the beginning of this video I thought you were going to stop your vehicle and say "Keith Cmon....cmon!" like Amanda did when she was driving away with Shane. I love the 80's 👍
I've been binge watching your videos since I've just discovered your channel today because I went from 14 to 24 in the 80's so this was my decade, I'm enjoying your channel so that I have to subscribe!
One of my favourite John hughes movies..your movie locations are great. This is the best movie locations for this on you tube..keep up the good work..Thanks Paul.South shields UK.
Nice. Also there was a scene where the main character was in detention and the location was filmed in one of the classrooms downstairs by the side entrance of the administration building. It's nice to see the familiar locations in the movie, especially SPHS.
Man the nostalgia!!! One of my favorite eighties movies the Suzuki Samuri was a great touch and i never realized how much screen time the refinery received it should have its screen actors guild card for that 😁
I used to work for a company that provides IT services for LAUSD schools, and I've been to San Pedro High School numerous times. I see they're renovating the campus.
Excellent movie 😎 great job in retracing the locations 🎥🎬 ✅. Movie industry has run out of new ideas pretty much for new content and remake old again, let's see if a modern remake is done of this classic 😊
One of the greatest movies ever
I'm in my 50's and I soooo love this movie and Elias Koteas is awesome 🥰
I was a junior at San Pedro High in 1987. I very fondly remember when they filmed this. My wife was an extra in the movie. She was captain of the drill team back then. The school looked exactly the same up until they started these renovations a couple years ago. Thanks for this video. What a flash back.
That movie was so special and still is to this day.
I'm still looking for my Watts!! Mary Stewart Masterson wasEVERYTHING!! Great video for a great movie..
I still get tears when I see that all. Thank you!
Duncan is definitely the hero in this movie 🤟🏼😁 I LOVE IT WHEN HE PUTS HARDY IN "HIS PLACE!" 🔥
Great film. MSM is so awesome in this. And your Samurai is incredible.
Def a movie that’ll feel new again upon a rewatch. Thanks, you’re the raddest when it comes to 80s / 90’s nostalgia
Thank you my friend!! 😁
I've always loved this movie, it's def my favorite John Hughes high school movie from the 80's. The soundtrack is also one of the best movie soundtracks of the day. Great video Kurt, I like how you took the advice and show the movie clip first then the current shot. Keep it up!
Thank you!! I base it on the location... sometimes that style Is necessary and other times it's not. In my opinion. Thanks you again.
Great job! Unfortunately, it seems like more and more filming locations of some of our favorite movies are disappearing forever.
Thank you! And yes, it's true
This was great!! My fave part was seeing your Suzuki and you walking down the train tracks!! Super cool

Charlie Sexton’s “Beat’s So Lonely” makes the party scene at the end. Music.
