Years of playing this, and I never knew the penguin levels recreated batman returns in Lego.

The 1st LEGO Batman also had Riddler, Two-Face, Poison Ivy and Mr. Freeze together on the same team, as a reference to the campy and divisive Duology of Joel Schumacher's movies, Batman Forever and Batman and Robin. Though now that i think about it, I don't know why Clayface was on Team Riddler instead of Bane.

Penguin and Catwoman together is a reference to Batman Returns. And the Joker boss is an homage to 1989 even Riddler paired with two face

You missed when Catwoman spawns in in super villains. There is a chance she will say "I am Catwoman, here me roar" from Batman returns (1992)

In LEGO Batman 1, Robin's name is Tim Drake and Nightwing's name is Dick Grayson, so this means Joker has killed Jason Todd but this detail is never mentioned in the game

Geez! That Catwoman movie just LOVES to get dunked on! Lay off people! It wasn't THAT bad! You want to see a terrible superhero/villain movie? I present to you Morbius. Catwoman was flawless vs Morbius! Pick on THAT movie! It deserves it!
