Stephen Colbert took over as host of The Late Show on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015. Colbert is best known for his work as a television host, writer, actor, and producer, and best known for his charity work teaching English as a second language on Tunisian date farms. Prior to joining the CBS family -- and being officially adopted by network president Les Moonves -- Colbert helmed “The Colbert Report,” which aired nearly 1,500 episodes and required Stephen to wear nearly 1,500 different neckties. The program received two Peabody Awards, two Grammy Awards, and several unwelcome shoulder massages. It won two Emmys for Outstanding Variety Series in 2013 and 2014, both of which appear to have been lost in the move. Colbert is pronounced koʊlˈbɛər, according to Wikipedia. His understudy is William Cavanaugh, who will be hosting The Late Show approximately one third of the time. Good luck, Bill!"

Uh ... pardon me -- That's highly debatable and completely irrelevant but what's not is that you never were and never will be the success that Martin has been.

The point is you aren't funny now, never were, never will be, but you have some snark to spit about a guy who went as far as he could go with funny? Are you listed as #6 in Comedy Central's top 100 stand up comedians? Did you write for Laugh In? How many times were you on Carson? Do you have a lifetime award from the Academy? When are you going to be on Colbert's show?
Martin hasn't done stand up for 15 years. He started a new career in music where he's considered a master at banjo and bluegrass, having won several Grammys -- best instrumental performance '02, best bluegrass album '09, best American roots song '13, He established an award for excellence in the craft and gives away $500,000 dollars to the winner. Why is he on TV now? He's got a musical he wrote, produced and directed opening on Broadway this year.

I've always liked Edie....ever since New Bohemians released Shooting Rubber Bands at the Stars.....got to see them live on the Ghost of a Dog tour......a great show.....and I've always kept my eye out for any material she's done since...

We saw it last summer at Timberlake Theater, out in the country northwest of Chicago. It was fabulous! Some regional theaters are doing it. Spread the word and maybe there will be a production near you sometime!

Don't you think songwriters don't do their homework. The story behind the development of "Bright Star" is quite elaborate. This is why Edie Brickell and Steve Martin are real songwriters and you and I are just amateurs.

+metaFOUR Did you watch the interview? Colbert stuck to the script and made sure to get in all the obligatory plugs, instead of reciprocating Martin's attempts to engage in an actual conversation. I cringed when Colbert segued into a plug for their new album right in the middle of Steve Martin telling a story. "Was I boring?" I gotta admit I felt bad for Steve Martin at that moment.... The interview was awkward, to say the least.

So it might have flopped in New York, some of the best shows started their lifetime as a flop, I saw the national tour in Charlotte and I have never experienced a show where the audience was that attached. With every twist in this story you heard the audience gasp, cheer, etc... I don't know your history with the show, but you sound like you are refusing to give it a chance.
@@wesleyharmon2807 I, too, saw the National Tour in Charlotte and this musical was one of the best I've ever seen. In fact, it's my favorite! So many twists and turns like you said. I couldn't help but gasp and cheer when the final plot twist was revealed. Such an amazing musical. Shame it was overshadowed by such big names like Hamilton.
