Not having your values in check is so relatable, it took me a long time to learn that one. Sacrifice, planning and focus are key but when you start to see progress you form positive habits and that feeling becomes addictive.
About the first point. Every single person I personally know who is doing better than me financially is doing so because of their parents.
It doesn’t even have to be about inherited money, no. It’s the fact that their parents are at least self sufficient and do not require support. And yes, in most cases parents even support THEM occasionally.
I’ve had to be responsible for the whole family financially pretty much since my mid 20s. Several generations live mostly on my finances.
I would be way farther in my life if I did not have to do that. So yes, some people are way more lucky with their life situation, and same level of talent and dedication will get them to success faster.
100% true in my experience too. So so many of my friends have had a leg up by their families in early adulthood - big ones like contributing to their wedding or house deposit, or small ones like helping them move house so they didn’t have to pay a removal firm, buying baby bits for them, doing their laundry (!) etc etc etc. I got nothing. And yes it makes a difference - when you’re on a starter salary even little boosts help you not take out a credit card, not get into your overdraft etc. Now I’m nearing 40 and slowly starting to accumulate for once, and I fully intend to give my son all the boosts I can because I know it makes a massive difference to financial stability.
You might find my response weird, but quantum physics proves you are right, simply!!

@@DanniDuck I was raised to be the only retirement plan for my parents and grandparents. They have practically no income and almost everyone is sick and disabled. This is definitely a problem with relationship, not money, but I cannot simply cut them off.
I'm in a good spot in life, exactly because I never used this situation as an excuse. I'm only saying that I could have struggled way less if not for mistakes of my family that I have to fix.
You're so right in so many levels. I consider myself a blessed person if I acknowledge the good in my life, but I'm also one of those people that the family, specially those closer family members that came before or are around, make life really hard for them. You can have the most positive mind and be your happiest self, smiling through the tough times, but the people around you would try to destroy your character and confidence little by little, if they're not aligned with you, specially in a spiritual level. Sometimes envy plays a big role, too and in a lot of occasions comes from your own parents or other members of the family. Sad but is the reality for a lot of us, no excuses. Still blessed though, I might add again.
Self sabotage and limiting beliefs.. For money and for life in general.. Oh boy, can I talk about those... I was living the first 25 years of my life believing I had my possibilities and capabilities in life set in stone as I was born. Then it took me almost 10 years slowly and gradually to intentionally start breaking free of all of it. That is probably the hardest thing I have ever done (and the longest). But it funally start paying off. All the effort in reshaping my core beliefs and values. And and it is harder when the people you interact with on a daily basis are the opposite and keep hammering in the negative limiting beliefs constantly. This is why I am very conscious about the people I choose to look up to and take advise from (like Nischa). If I cannot find my leading examples in real life.. Well, one of the many positives of the Internet :)
I completely agree. Who you associate with ( in life in general and money wise) will amp up the difficulty level of breaking free.
I speak from experience as well and I’m in my fifties now. STILL working on freedom. Glad you figured things out earlier than I did.

Everyone has to start a 9-5 to build themselves experience and finance wise.
You can only leave usually if side investment/business pays off, inheritance, marry rich, win lotto etc.
To summarize:
Stop justifying your own complacency
Find the energy to go to the extra mile
There's a way to learn to get everything done
Have clear goals and unified will, focus, effort
Become informed and financially literate

I recently started small investment accounts with Chase. Although it was only about $500-$750 to start, I felt it was important. My self-directed account has always been in the black or green since November 6th. However, my automated account went into the red (I took losses) on November 9th & 15th, but even these losses were small (18 cents to $1.50). I put in $55 a week to boost both accounts. My financial profile is conservative. So I'm not putting in much, but I'm not risking a lot either.

On #5, for ladies who are married and are in a narcissistic relationship, taking control of your own finances is key! As a single person, I always knew my finances inside out. It baffles me how many of my married friends do not know how much they bought house for, or what rent they pay, or even what is the worth of their car! I know it might sound like a luxury being taken care of financially, but I know at least one of my friends is miserably trapped only for financial reasons, as she admitted, with her rich narcissistic husband. She knows she won’t get much if she leaves. Dr. Ramani always highlights this point.

Very specific story, but simply "knowing" the finances won't help steering the relationship for the better. it only helps if you are planning for a divorce. Which I don't think is something anyone who are in a marriage should scheme for.
I certainly understand there's a risk element being in a marriage and has the lower-to-no income of the two, therefore it's important to demand putting all the assets and investments under both names.
This way, the higher income earner would not feel all-powerful that he/she can do as he/she pleases, at the same time, the lower income earner would feel more secure in the relationship.
So the focus will be more about nurturing the relationship or in your friend's case perhaps 'salvaging' the relationship, and not focusing about "what do I get out of this relationship when this thing collapses".
This is very important. More important than the validation women get by being "taken care of" .

I like the test that you shared although I struggle to fill it, the questions/ answers are not MECE/ on some there is no way to answer.
Like, "What do you keep talking to yourself about most that you desire to come true and that is coming true" - in an ideal world it would be an easy one, but in many cases, it won't be even possible to answer as there may be a very limited overlap between what one is thinking about doing/ achieving (e.g., traveling, living on a beach, doing sports consistently, being fit/ in a healthy relationship...) and what one is doing (e.g., working in a shitty job, then watching TV/TikTok/ gaming or some other low-value stuff like this). What would be the right answer in such a case: what one thinks, but does not do, or what one does, but do not want?
Would really be interest to know which YT channels, books, podcasts, insta pages etc helped you with a positive money mindset.

You are only ever one skill away from doubling your income - even when your'e an employee. Invest all you can in personal education and take every course offered at work.

Independence was within my grasp, and it could have been a fun adventure. I learned it too late, after my career ended. I was raised and acclimated to view those who had money with suspicion and contempt. You don't have to love money to have fun playing with it. Fortunately, I should have enough to get me through the rest of my life, but I might have had a more satisfying life if I'd been skilled enough to take calculated risks.
The answer is always no if you don’t ask 🙌🏻
All of our spare money goes towards cash generating assets. Apart from food, birthdays and holidays.

It's different for everyone, but commonly people take themselves to be independent when they have enough to fulfill an acceptable lifestyle for the rest of their lives.
Another great video, thanks Nischa. I can easily remember times when I've had all these different mental stumbling blocks about money and finance. I watched an older video of yours (about 6 personal finance books) and since then it has been really eye-opening to realise how my subconcious beliefs have shaped a lot of financial and work decisions that I have made. So recently I've been actively working to fix or improve my financial life, thanks to your content! 😊
For me, this video had so many novel insights that I had never considered. And, as usual, you presented it in a clear, concise manner. Students who are not taught money matters in school, would do well to watch your content.

Apply for jobs in financial institutions. You will get to know more about the jobs once you start working. There are many well paying jobs if you hold professional designations such as CA, CFA, FRM, Actuary. Getting an Actuarial designation is the hardest and usually people who have majored in mathematics, physics, statistics and engineering choose this route.

Your videos are nice but I think it's unfortunate that you only make videos for beginners.
I am already quite a few steps further than this, but I think you have much more knowledge than I do, and i want to learn.
I therefore hope that in the future you will also make more in-depth videos for people like me who already have a business, who already invest, etc.
It is much more challenging to create a strong financial portfolio therefore it would be wise to get much needed assistance from a real finance professional. You can then receive strategies that are specifically suited to your long term objectives and financial goals.

Great video to remind us how money its important and we should make it a priority. I am 53 and have stayed in the same job for 8 years, a couple of raises but no change in the responsibilities. So yes it’s time to find something new, challenging and with a much higher pay.

Great thoughts! The year I almost over and very glad about the decisions I have made so far. Investing in the market earlier this year regardless of the market condition has saved my life. I made over 70k USD with a start of 25k in the last 7 months. I know it’s nothing compared to what others make but I’m glad I’m changing my finances. If things keep going well I might retire soon>.
All this is great, but I think you started with lots of money, and built it from there, what if you have zero money to begin with Nischa ?
There's people with negative money who can benefit from not thinking they're limited.
Break out of debt by working, save up an emergency fund, start investing while looking into further career opportunities.
I believe the whole idea is to help regular people to improve their basic financial literacy - all the advise you can find in her older videos are all about how to start managing the little you might be earning and by improving your financial literacy to start spending more wisely, getting you mindset in the right place for that as well. In time to try increase your income by increasing let say expertise ( the lowest handing fruit than starting a side hustle). And then from that place of better managing and saving your higher income, to learn to save and invest better. Than this will give you the strong foundation for the next more challenging step. If you have zero money, sorry but there is no quick way of suddenly get rich or start your business or side hustle aggressively to become rich in short period of time. It takes time, effort and long-term goals. This is how I am doing it anyway.
@@IAmebAdgerthat's a great point. You may be starting from nothing but it could be worse, you could be starting from a place of debt. Being debt free and staying away from bad debt is crucial to building wealth. We all have to start from somehwere, don't let perfection be the enemy of good.
Get started now champ and keep going, even putting away a little bit of money to start with is brilliant, set small achievable goals and be consistent, and remember there will almost certainly be setbacks (such is life) but you must pick yourself up and keep going.
