Bruh why do Shannon keep talking about this MJ is way more superior than Lebron. MJ has no weaknesses on the court and it was just a pretty site to see. He and Kobe are the only unguardables of all time besides The Dream, KD and Kyrie. MJ played in a serious league when skill and heart plus physicality played a part numbers means nothing the eye test tells you everything.
Bottom line is that MJ was the best 1on1 player while everyone was playing team ball then Lebron was the best all around player while everyone was trying to be the best 1on1 player. Now its back to the best TEAM and that's why the Warriors are great right now because they have a great team and a great players.
Skip makes it seem like longevity is a bad thing! That fact he’s been able to play at an MVP level for so long, is why he’s the GOAT. P.S. notice how skip made no comment on LeBron’s 10 finals appearances and 8 straight finals.
Yeah they were 3 points shooters when MJ played but there was small number of them compared to the current era. Back then you didn't have PF and C trying to shoot like Steph Curry. Not to mention the number of 3 point attempts was far lower than it is now.
Jordans flame burnt the brightest in NBA history and lasted for awhile. LeBron's flame burnt 95% as bright as Jordans but lasted MUCH, MUCH longer. You could say Jordan had a harder path to the finals, and when he got there his team was always favored to win, which they did, while LeBron had a easier path to the finals only to have his team NOT favored in majority of the finals (2011 Miami was favorite and lost). You could say Jordan always had a competent front office capable of building a winning team, while LeBron wasn't as lucky. The best thing Jordan did for his career was retire after the '98 season and avoid the rebuild with the Bulls and potentially adding more slight stains to his legacy. The best thing LeBron did for his career was leave Cleveland the first time (took long enough) and go to a team that actually had a clue what they were doing. You can't go wrong with either one. Just be thankful we got to see and witness both.
LeBron the goat it's not a debate. Everyone complains about longevity. Longevity at a high level is astonishing. It's nothing wrong with being number 2,so Jordan fans let it go
@@LandStrider23 nope this is fact. Jordan was good but played in a weak era. 90s ball was awesome but the gap between stars and average players was astonishing. For every Hakeem you had a Will Purdue. For every pippen you had a nate McMillan. Nowadays 1-10 are skilled players
In 19 years lebron has 1 scoring title to MJs 10 in 15 years. Lebron has never been defensive player of year. Never Lebron has 5 1st team all defense In 19 years Jordan had 9 in 15 years Lebron has 4 rings in 10 nba finals Jordan is 6-0 Lebron has lost as many finals as Jordan won. There is no competition to the Goat debate Lebron is a horrible defender compared to MJ and leads the league in turnovers all time. Get real Jordan would have killed lebron in a prime time match up 1v1. It’s not even close.
Mj his last Finals avgd only 4 rbs & just 2.3 assists while shooting 43%. Yet his TEAM won in 6 games. Lol out of Lebrons TEN Finals there's not ONE he could perform like that & his team have a prayer at winning. Mj led his team in 3 or more of the 5 main categories (points/rebounds/assists/blocks/steals) in ONE of his teams 6 Finals (Pip did it in FOUR of the Bulls Finals). It was the '91 Finals & he led the Bulls in points, rebounds, assists, & steals. Lebrons led his team in 3 or more in EIGHT Finals (& led his team in 4 or more categories in FOUR Finals) including leading not only his team in ALL FIVE categories .... but he also led every single player on the other team in ALL FIVE categories. Besides Lebron, in that Finals there was the league MVP, a DPOY, an All NBA player who is a top 5 shooter of all time, the reigning Finals MVP, & 2 more All Stars... and all of them except for 1 were within their primes...... yet Lebron led them ALL in points/rebounds/assists/blocks/& steals. That's incredible.
I don't care like skip says ,to me Scoring title is overrated cuz Trae young's is the leader in total pts score and his barely 6'0 feet, which is very impressive in a league of giants
People don't understand.. Jordan at point guard years was 32/8/8, scoring title and still DPOY or 1st team all defense and played both ends of the court as the best scorer with top defense. LeBron has the total package? The system is made for him by him offensively.. He gets all the touches and the accolades, even the most efficient and greatest turnover player of all time. but with optional defense.. that's total package to you? Play the best only half of he court?
Why stop at Hall of Fame players or coaches? Why not just use anyone's opinion to debate this topic? Let's see what Cedric Ceballos thinks or Terry Porter? Or maybe ask me? "Some guy not affiliated with basketball thinks Michael Jordan is better than Lebron James...does this change anything? Skip? Shannon?" And then they can go ahead and have exactly the same debate, making exactly the same points they've made the past 400 million times they've done this stale, old topic. And FYI no, I didn't watch this...I saw the title and clicked it to make a sarcastic comment...and yes it's because I have nothing better to do.
Shannon makes a big deal out of Lebrons all-time points and assists total, and yet he still has less points than Karl Malone and less assists than Stockton, Kidd, Paul, Nash Jackson, none of whom are even considered top 20 all-time players
Jordan's shoes are exponentially better and Jordan knew when it was time to let the hair go as opposed to the other guy trying in several vain attempts to hold on to it. Goat debate over!
This longevity argument is silly. Jordan played 3 years of college basketball and hit the game winning shot to win a NC. Jordan retired immediately after winning 3 straight championships at the age of 35. In 98’ Jordan was hands down the best player in the league, Lebron is not currently the best player in the league. Jordan could have possibly played 2-3 more seasons and at the very least matched his stats previously and possibly won more championships while still being the best player in the league. Lebron is an amazing player and deserves all the respect, but Jordan was a far more successful player in his last three years than Lebron has been
I'm sick of this discussion. It is foolish to compare lebron to MJ. It's not close at all. He's holding up his stat sheet without the championships to match. It's like game neglection
How could someone grow up watching MJ live, and then call LB the GOAT? Every person, and we'll just talk in terms of media, who considers LB the GOAT - Nick Wrong, Perkins, Acho - were all either not living when MJ played in the 90's or too young to appreciate it. Except Shannon. Does anyone know of anyone else who watched MJ live and consider LB the GOAT?

Tim Duncan was still a very good defensive player his last year in the NBA, and still one of the best defensive big men...so Shannon has no idea what he is talking about on that Edit--For all you id!ots coming at me, saying Duncan was not good defensively his last season...He averaged 1.5 blocks, and 1 steal, in only 25mpg...and that includes where he fell off a cliff the last quarter of the season. He was still a solid defensive big. Numbers don't lie
He was a center too. Not the same position than LeBron, not the best player in his team neither one of the best in the NBA. I don’t get why there has to be a definitive GOAT, like as if there can only be one. I get that Greatest Of All Time would make more sense to a singular individual, but things change over the years. It would only be fair to refer to someone as the GOAT if we really think they’ll be the best no matter the era. Which lets be honest… It’s hard to say for any player. So in the end, it’s a matter of how good you are in your own era. If we follow that, then it would only be fair to allow multiple GOATs. Either one for every position or era. Nothing more, nothing less.
There has be a definitive goat because at the end of the day basketball is sport where weather your a child or a 40 year old man at the ymca you play to win so when we talk about about ball we are trying to come up with a definitive goat
Because there is a definitive goat. Numbers speak for themselves. Just like the scoreboard tells you who won the game. Stats tell you who was the best player. Otherwise stats would be pointless. There are stats in everything, even businesses and those stats tell you what business is the best.
the only asterisk to that is in tems of peak greatness, what duration is the criteria for a peak, is it one game, one season? a decade? the problem with that is that people resorts to a subjective criteria to match their biases.
There's no Lebron James without Michael Jordan. Mike's his idol. It doesn't matter if Lebron will be the #1 scoring and assists leader of all time. The fact that he will do them by playing more seasons is just greatness in longevity. Micheal became the GOAT and being talked about until this day by playing lesser seasons than any basketball player.
I’ll put Jordan, Kobe and Lebron in my top 3 all time. But I’m drafting Kobe over Lebron. Jason Kidd also thinks it’s okay to beat his wife. Jordan was the best offensive and defensive player - that’s “the whole package” for me. Longevity Lebron is the goat - gifted unlike anyone else with no injuries.
Lebron was afraid to speak about China. He also was afraid to speak about Tamir Rice. He only spoke up once it got popular to do so. He didn't sacrifice anything. Lebron is not Muhammad Ali.

PPG is nothing.. The league is far easier to score now. The NBA was much harder to score than now. Even Luka, Joker and Giannis said its easier to score in the NBA than EuroLeague. Those OG Euro players like Kukoc who came to NBA, never said that. The NBA was harder to score during MJ’s Washington tenure based on average scores. Yet, the man averaged 22 at 40 yo, before the knee injury took him out. His scoring was ramping up. He averaged 28 ppg those last 10 games. MJ has a lifetime 30 ppg average with no 3s and those two 20/22 pt game seasons in Washington, in a lower scoring league. D. Rose averaged 24-25 ppg his MVP year. He and Kobe are the only unguardables of all time besides The Dream, KD and Kyrie. MJ played in a serious league when skill and heart plus physicality played a part numbers means nothing the eye test tells you everything.
3 points?
Bottom line is that MJ was the best 1on1 player while everyone was playing team ball then Lebron was the best all around player while everyone was trying to be the best 1on1 player. Now its back to the best TEAM and that's why the Warriors are great right now because they have a great team and a great players.

Great perspective regarding both players. People can have an opinion on thinking whose better, but just appreciate their greatness.

And FYI no, I didn't watch this...I saw the title and clicked it to make a sarcastic comment...and yes it's because I have nothing better to do.
this is a tradition 🤣
