    I had a 1983 V65 and a 1985 when I got out of school in 85 one of my buddies drag raced all the time eventually his kept jumping out of 2nd gear because of how hardcore he was treating it lookin at them for sale on the market that’s one thing to always look for. Back when I had mine in 1983 and 85-92 there was hardly any bikes in the 80s that could even come close the Vmax about 86-87 around that year was when I got out run but still the old brick was and is still the coolest

    I’ve got an ‘84 that’s just about to roll 56,000. It’s still so fast and fun to ride.

    I had one. It was a fun bike accept I couldn't afford to keep it tuned up at the time. And you are correct about the oil. Just jump on them and ride cold. LOL! I have a 06 Honda shadow 1100 Spirit I'm the original owner and it runs better now than new and around 50 thousand miles I've put on it! Actually its the best bike I have ever owned and I've owned at least two dozen bikes. Harleys Triumphs etc! Dude you know what's up. Honda makes the best!

      @Eric Cunningham - Realtor The Shifter and rear brakes were changed for comfort on long trips because the placement of the foot pegs was so uncomfortable.

      There's no adjusents on these carbs there clean or there not run sea foam in your fuel will also encrease compression and there's also a oil mod kit to pump more oil in the top end

    Have you seen the oil mod kit for these bikes

    • @squaaaaak3178
      @squaaaaak3178 2 года назад

      The oil mod kit is okay, I guess, but it doesn't solve the underlying problem of the terrible design of the way the cams float around in the head. I'm so glad they made the gear driven cam vfrs, but then Honda had to go and ruin it by redesigning the VFR with vtech.

    It was geared to go 173 MPH but one can never get that. about 150 is more realistic. My favorite bike ever!

    • @squaaaaak3178
      @squaaaaak3178 2 года назад

      130, downhill, with a tailwind, is more realistic. I don't know who people are kidding here.

    • @tjmartin7477
      @tjmartin7477 Год назад

      @@squaaaaak3178obviously you have never ridden one. Mine is 40 years old now and 130 is easy if you have the balls to do it on a bike that old. You shouldn't comment on things you know nothing about.

      @@tjmartin7477I own 2022 Versys 1000 with similar but slightly higher peak hp and torque across rev range. There is German rider who tests various bikes using GPS on autobahn and achieved a power limited 137 mph top speed due to aerodynamic drag. Now this mythical V65 Honda with upright riding position, no fairing, and vertical, radiator with only 105 rwhp will magically defy physics and hit 150 mph easy???? 😂😂😂 No waay unless rider is built like 4'-10", 100lb jockey laying flat on tank. If it can achieve 137 mph I would be surprised but at least that is believeable. I have read online numerous owners comment the V65 speedometer is increasingly optimistic above 100 mph. When I see gps verified V65 speed that isn't wind or grade aided online then I will believe it. But most of the hype surrounding this bike is pure BS. It is nothing special as compared to today's modern tech. It's day of glory have come and gone along with the integrity of many minds who rode and/or still ride these.

    At our shop us mechanics tried to hide when these V65's came in for work! LOL
    The carbs in the valley between the "V" are an absolute bitch to work on. A Nightmare.
    A common job was the bike had been left sitting - and the carbs all clogged up with rotting gas.
    I swear there are a million jets in these carbs - all to be painstakingly cleaned out.
    Cleaning them out was a $1,000 job.

    LOL! I have owned two V65 magnas and a V65 Sabre. They were lucky if you could reach 125 mph with them. There are very powerful for the time, especially 0 to 80, and the mid-range roll on and stuff. Top speed? Forget about it. For one thing, they were too heavy and not aerodynamic enough to reach the kind of speeds that you were talking about. Why exaggerate so much, they were great bikes without that. I know at the time, Honda would routinely put maximum speed in gears in the manual. That simply means that if the bike were capable of actually going that fast, if you were redlining in sixth gear that's how fast you would be going. Guess what? It's not possible to redline in 6th gear on that motorcycle.

      You had problems then.
      Record speed for one is 176mph and ive seen videos of people going 150.

  • @kannermw
    @kannermw 11 месяцев назад

    In March 1983 issue of Cycle magazine the V65 Magna was measured at 105 rwhp . Actual achieveable top speed via verifiable gps is around 135 mph. Above 100 mph these speedometers are notoriously optimistic and they should be called "optimeters" The other speeds talked about here were marketing speak nonsense.
