    Maduras were only made for about two years due to the fact they were about maintenance free. Suzuki service departments never saw them again. They resolved that issue in subsequent models.

    It was ❤at first sight when I saw the Madura! I worked at a steel plant, and one of our new hires rolled up on her. He was just out of the Army, and wanted to sell her. I bought her on the spot. She only had 2500 miles on her. I’ve owned a few bikes, but this one was my Best Ever!! I’d never even heard of Madura, but pleasantly Surprised! Seating position was excellent, handlebars were just tall enough, and the seat was firm, but soft. The engine was powerful, just loud enough, and very responsive to the throttle! Thank you so much for this video. It brought back many great memories to me. 👍❤🏍

I went through several Hondas from then, V65 Magna and Sabre, CB900F (have had two), and then went bike free for a long time but got back in on a 98 Suzuki Bandit, 01 FZ1, 2000 ZX12R Ninja. The straight line performance difference between a V65 Magna and a 1200 Madura was very small. The Magna had a tendency to lift the front wheel if you were not practiced in launching it hard, where as the Madura could be launched rather aggressively without this worry. For what its worth, the magazines of the time claimed the Madura was the faster bike through the 1/4 mile, if but a couple tenths of a second. The V65 Magna was known for having issues with its cams due to a claimed oiling problem, however i never heard of an engine problem associated with the Madura. The V-Max pretty much made both of these bikes obsolete to anyone that was serious about wanting a performance cruiser.

    • @kannermw
      @kannermw 8 месяцев назад

      '83 Magna has only 106 rwhp. The 1/4 mile time posted just under 11 sec. was posted by Pee Wee Gleason a professional rider who I understand weighed a mere 130 lbs 😂. The rider technique, light weight, and abuse to clutch to have achieved that key 1/4 time but not something any average rider could ever do to their bike parked in garage.
      Where did you get the false information the '84-'85 models were detuned to make more low end torque? They simply lost power due to more stringent emissions compliance.
      You want that same arm pulling power in a modern bike? A Kawasaki Versys 1000 is about the same weight with slightly more power and torque throughout the rpm range with better fuel economy and way better handling characteristics and comfort.
      I had graduated from high school the year prior to the first V65 Magna release and fondly remember the tv commercials. Honda had great marketing back then and achieved a new milestone. However, by today's standards these bikes are far from anything special and much more dangerous for inexperienced riders. Per my understanding they will squat when using engine braking due to drive shaft. Use too much late engine braking while entering a corner and the reduced ground clearance will have you scraping valuable bits on the ground and later doing the same to clean your shorts later.

    Correction on the V65.
    1. It was build in Ohio. Because Harley Davidson complained to the Government in 1982, the US applied a 45% tariff on any bike over 700cc.
    So, in 83, you stopped seeing 750cc bikes, and started to see 700cc, and Honda opened a plant in Ohio to make anything over 700cc (also, they made car there too).
    2. The Pipes on the V86 are not the original. This ones on it now suck.

Around 7,000 RPM's to 12,000 RPM's is where you feel the real difference between the 2 bikes. Because of gear ratio differences between the 2 bikes, the rolling test is flawed. I have also owned an 84 interceptor 1000. The difference always showed up on top the suzuki will fall behind as redline nears. The madura is indeed a nice bike though, cruising around on either the magna or madura is great mostly because they are very torquey bikes, you can pick your spot in traffic very nicely on either. In this video we took those bike from standstill to red line from 1st to 3rd gear on two seperate runs. Then we took them to open road and did another 5 runs to see how they go from given speeds to assess flexibility of those motors from low rpm through to midrange(about 3k rpm to 6k- 7k rpm)
      In other words we covered both all types of acceleration thus the conclusions we get from your comments are:

    • @Adikxx
      @Adikxx  8 месяцев назад

      1. I replaced the OEM Magna pipes as they rotted to scrap and bike failed MOT(or to be precise - it's equivalent)
      It meant that it could not be legally ridden on the road. New OEM pipes from Honda were discontued so my only option was MAC system which was new and at affordable price. Hopefully this satisfies your curiosity.
      2.Magna sounds shit on ANY exhaust,(stock or aftermarket)as it's just a shitty sounding engine overall. Any complaints to be directed to Honda, they built the bike not me.
      3. When it comes to Madura and it's sound i'll unveil to you that until now i only heard positive comments about it. You're the 1st person to say that is sounds bad. This means that you're in tiny minority so you're voice sadly becomes meaningless.
