Love this song, and the first time I heard it was a cover from a busker on Grafton St Dublin Ireland; the deep relationship this song has to the blues just wraps itself around my heart. I'm not sure if you have ever heard the duet "Seven Spanish Angels" with the legendary Ray Charles and Willie Nelson, but another of my favorites, and you can't miss "Whiskey Lullaby" by Brad Paisley.

Yes Chris is a hell of a singer and guitarist. I know you dig Metallica he covered “Nothing else matters”it is really good. He does very traditional country tracks as well but if you want his rock/blues side try midnight train to Memphis, & death row enjoy your channel
I'm a metalhead from Boston Massachusetts. I never really got into this sort of music til I moved to Atlanta Georgia. I'm classically trained in piano and guitar. But I never got into the blues til I moved down south. There's just something about seeing it live and living the culture. Great reaction as always. Have a great weekend. 🍻🤟

This particular song was written in the 1970's by David Allen Coe but Chris made it his own by putting a more bluesy vibe to it.
Cris perfected DAC’s song for sure. Though I heard it first from DAC, Chris is my favorite cover of it!

A good story that is relatable, with genuineness and emotion you can feel is what good country songs are made of.
Never understood how anyone can hate a full genre of music especially country when you have the newer artists like Hardy, Morgan Wallen and Chris Stapleton and then you go back to legends like Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash and the like, Im a huge fan of all genres because at the very least I can find one artist I like in any type of music.
Morgan Wallen would be the best reason to hate country, so instead, I just boycott Morgan Wallen.

I'm with you 100% - I am totally NOT a country guy in any way, well, country post 1990'ish. Chris's voice is so remarkable and this rendition of Tennessee Whiskey is amazing. If it wasn't for his wife being on stage with him I sure he would have had a couple pair of panties thrown at him the moment he belt out that blues sound!!!

I forget y'all are young now and grew up with a new gen of country radio. Don't judge the genre from radio! They never play the best stuff on there, seriously.

Just to name a few! Country has so many styles from pop to rock, it's a genre that contains a lot of unique instrumental choices and a lot of unique vocals. Which is probably why it will always hold a special place in my heart. Very little can beat acoustic strings and a raw, not over-produced vocal. And while radio country might be leaning into the digital music trend, a lot of smaller and lesser-known artists are really keeping the style alive.
You should really check out Merle Haggard’s What have you got planned tonight Diana. It is one of the most beautiful songs ever written!
