Only June could talk about a spice like it's a luxury fragrance. I love her😊
Cardamom is a luxury fragrance! According to me anyway.
I've been inspired by June to cook and bake more adventurously this year. As a matter of fact, Ii've got a butternut squash shourwa (indian style soup) simmering on the stove now. And I DID put cardamom in it. :)
@@VIOLETheavenBeenMyHandle lol I've never had it that I know of but point taken 😅
@@Sphaatikhaa wish I could taste
@@joydavis6897 No you don't. LOL. This particular batch didn't turn out as well as the first time I made it. DOH!
She is the most articulate of chefs. Her use of language and her knowledge of cooking methods is timeless. She has already saved me money and helped me cook much better meals, with so many great methods. I have much experience cooking my different styles for a great many years. She is an absolute gem.
In Indian cooking we also use a lot of cardamom. Example, black cardamom is used to cook basmati rice dishes and green one mostly for sweets like kheer but can also be used for savory dishes. Loved the video ❤️
Hi 👋
Cardamom is one of my favorite spices. My mom would make Swedish cardamom bread when I was growing up. It was my job to deshell and grind the seeds in a mortal and pestle (yes, by hand, household electric spices grinders weren't a thing yet). I hate grinding but loved the smell.
Yay hej Sverige 🇸🇪
Compliments on pronouncing Pfeffernüsse 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤❤
Hi 👋
Started putting cardamom in my carrot cake and icing. I also loooooove cardamom ice cream with cardom pistachio shortbread cookies like an ice cream sandwich.
I have a cinnamon allergy (it's so sad! I LOVE cinnamon) And cardamom has become my go to for coffee, sweet stuff, literally anything. Love you June!
My favorite uses of cardamom are on mulled wine and rice pudding. That fresh, citrusy flavor is a delicious and perfect addition to such sweet flavours
Rice pudding would be delicious!
Yes baked product and rice pudding
I love June! She is the main reason I watch Delish! She deserves a raise!! Hint hint
Hi 👋
OK, the crushing the orange seeds trick...I had no idea. Awesome idea.
In India, cardamom is widely used in sweet, savory dishes and tea. Cardamom tea is my favorite and I love to use them in biryani.
Green cardamom is also used as mouth freshener. My mom has some of them all time in her purse.
Hi 👋
Who is more thoughtful when it comes to describing flavors? So much more useful than saying, "I can't quite grasp it, so I'll just call it nutty."
I crush 2-3 cardamom pods and dump them into a mug of milk and microwave for 90 seconds. I sweeten to taste with sugar or honey. To me it tastes like the milk left over when you eat fruit loops or apple Jack's. Delicious!
My in-laws are Finnish. I have learned two amazing recipes from my Grandma-in-law that turned me on to cardamom. One is a coffee bread with swirls of cardamom like you'd do cinnamon. The other is an absolutely amazing scalloped potatoes with gruyere and cardamom. Every time I make them, people rave and ask what that distinctive, delicious, flavor is.
I'm told that cardamom is best if you can get it imported from Europe, but I've not had the pleasure of testing that myself.
I grew up making Finnish nisu, which is coffee bread. My Mummu's (grandmother in Finnish) recipe had cardamom throughout, not swirls. The swirl idea sounds very interesting!
Oh! I'm Finnish but I've never heard of those potatoes. Sounds absolutely delicious and I think I need to try those asap!
I love June's videos not only for her rhapsodic love of flavor and ability to articulate it, but also for her wonderful resourcefulness.
Love June so much. Literally could watch her talk about anything.
I love green cardamom, and use it in all of my Anglo-Indian cooking. Crushed green cardamom seeds with white chocolate (especially white hot chocolate) is divine.
To me cardamom and bananas are a perfect combination. I blend frozen bananas with cardamom to get a healthy icecrem in the summer.
Hey, that sounds really GOOD! Thanks for the tip :)
Sounds delicious, thanks for the tip:)
More June = More better! I’ve loved every episode of the Spice Show series and this was no exception. Can’t wait to try the jam and bread recipes as my mouth was literally watering as you ate it. Thank you June ♥️.
A Cardamon plant in the living room??😍❤️ I am going to try planting the seeds I have in my pantry!!!
Hi 👋
I got a new pet bird today and kept thinking she looks like the beautiful early summer sky. So I'm naming her June! So glad to see you back Sweetpea, you brighten everyone's day! ❤ 🌞
i’m south asian and green/yellow cardamom is very common in our cooking! we use it in curries bc it’ll help combat the gamey smell in some meats. we also put it in a lot of sweets, often dairy based (think rice puddings, flans)... it’s kind of like how western desserts are commonly dressed with cinnamon.
Or how we use vanilla extract. I think that’s a better example instead of cinnamon. 👍🏼🙏
I was in the kitchen, listening to your voice from my laptop in the other room. As soon as you said that "fenugreek is the platonic ideal of curry powder" (paraphrased), I immediately grabbed the jar to smell it and MY MIND WAS BLOWN!
Hi Stephanie
I really like the spice shows. I was ignorant of most spices and didn't even know! I love to learn, so thank you, June!
Oh June, you speak so beautifully about food, it's mesmerizing 💜🌟
When I was younger my mom would just eat Cardamom pods I remember little ramekins of Cardamom shells like ash trays.
I love these episodes about spices so much!
I hope there is going to be one about juniper berries (we use them quite a lot where I come from for sauces, broths or cabbage recipes), cloves or maybe some rose water?
Rose water😍
I adore cardamom in tea, I was so disappointed in spiced teas preblended being so weak, i went to the local Indian market and bought green cardamom and totally enjoy intense dark tea with lovely green cardamom
I love the way June describes flavors for people who've never experienced them. How about cumin?
Hello 👋👋👋
Wow! Stars aligning on food tube when June and Jared (aka Weird Explorer) both drop cardamom episodes on the same day.
cardamom baked goods... one of the best things about sweden!
Cardamom is one of the reasons why Swedish baked goods are amazing. Some of the most criminally underrated breads, cakes, and pastries (and some of the best you will ever eat) come from Sweden and are liberally flavored with cardamom.
💖 Love this. I love cardamom. I just found an orange, mint, and cardamom toothpaste. Karakum from Marvis. I love it.
Thanks for the tip! The licorice and rambas flavors of Marvis also sound awesome. All three are now in my Amazon cart, waiting for my next SS check.
Hi Wendy
I love cardamom in my coffee.
Thank you for being my teacher. Your voice is soothing and your instructions are simple and inspiring ❤.
I'm always refreshing Delish for a new June video! I love the way she cooks and teaches in her unassuming kitchen. I can't wait for more spice episodes! I really love tossing a green or yellow cardamom pod in with the coffee beans when I want freshly ground coffee. I'm looking forward to trying the bread and cookie recipes and playing around with adding this to familiar dishes. Thanks June; I LOVE your videos :D
Hi Julie
When i was 17 or 18, i lived in an apartment complex and i had Syrian neighbours, a single mother and two kids. She would cook chicken thighs with whole cardamom pods and It smelled soooooo good everywhere on the whole floor lol. The mother gave me some once and it was exquisite...
I bought cardamom powder not long after that. Great in sweet things such as oatmeal.
Hi 👋
My favorite thing to do with cardamom is added it to chia pudding!! Also it’s great on top of yogurt! We love you June.
Cardamom braided bread is a Christmas and Easter tradition in my family because of our Scandinavian heritage. Its such a warm, cozy spice! So excited to see you make a version 💗!
Cardamom is my favourite! I put extra cardamom in a kashmiri curry, and I love it in shortbread or oatmeal. Mix some cardamom into powdered sugar and roll buttery almond cookies into it when they are still warm.
Hi Stephanie
My mom used to grind cardamom pods with her coffee beans! I’ve grown up loving cardamom
Cardermom is one of my absolute faves. In coffee, chocolate desserts, ground and cooked with rise...omnomn.
I’d love to see a video on achiote/annatto! Thanks for another great episode June!
Hi Vinny
When I think of cardamom, I think of those cookies- and also chicken biryani. Good chicken biryani is to LIVE for! LOL Thanks for this great rundown- and also for that gem (there's always at least one!) about orange seeds/pectin. All these years, and I never knew!
So, how about doing an episode about mustard seeds?
june's videos are so relaxing, sometimes the only thing that allows me to focus on homework or studying
I just saw a video from Business Insider yesterday about Why Cardamoms are expensive and viola! You are so great June!
For me, cardamom is the flavor of Christmas! I love it in savory dishes as well, but there's nothing quite like that hint of cardamom in krumkake or julekake.
a fellow Norwegian? dont forget smulteringer and waffels
Cardamom is so underrated!!!
Love watching June cook and talk about cooking!
Hi Laura
Iranians use Cardamom in many desserts. I wish you could taste some! BTW, love you June!
That potato curry is everything !
This is a good idea for a show. Love cardamom in rice pudding 🍮
Love these educational series! Learn so much exploring and discussing ingredients we’re not as familiar with!
Hello.
I see June in the thumbnail, I click. Easy as that
I loveee cardamom, especially in chai and rice dishes.
I was literally eating freeze-dried apples with cardamom when this popped into my feed.
It’s funny cuz this morning I was telling my ma that we needed to use the 2lbs of cardamom we have sealed in a jar in our pantry! We have a TON of green cardamom, imma bake something
using cardamom in gintonic is nice too. where i work we put the cardamom and a slice of lime :)
Oh also! PS: my ma said she now loves congee because of you!! So maybe I’ll make some Congee with cardamom to use up some of the metric ton of the stuff we have in the pantry!
I saw a recipe for cardamom yogurt and now I feel more inspired to try it!
Hello Debbie
cardamom is the secret to the best donuts. 🍩🍩🍩
This has been very informative! I never have used cardamom but now I will for sure. Dying to make that yummy bread and jam. Also potato curry.

I drop a cracked pod green cardamom in my rice cooker when cooking rice. Heavenly aroma
The rice looks like perfect mush foood! I would love a sichuan pepper corn vid! I bought a packet of whole green peppercorns, after watching your live. I’ve got no clue what to do with them now lol. I also don’t have a spice grinder :(. Loved the video x
Wow. This is amazing !June and cardamom!!
Uber awesome spice podcast, June! Love, luv, luv! 👍🌟👏🙌❤️😍☺️

June! You are amazing!
i'm French (nobody's perfect😁)
i seriously think Chinese and French have a lot in common
with food love 😊👍
Hi 👋
Absolutely loved this video. MORE please. ❤️
I've got cardamom in my spice drawer. I bet it's older than you though.😀
Cardamom tastes to me like ginger and green bananas.... Not at all what you're describing, June, but I love listening you. I need to buy some fresh cardamom and try to find what you're picking up....
I like cardamom sprinkled over a fresh fruit salad, or fruit with yogurt. It brings up sweetness without needing a lot of sugar, like cinnamon. I'm like your man, Ethan, though, I just put it on whatever. I'm in love with cardamom.
Hi Melissa
I needed this, don’t really know much about spices. More please. Love June 🥰🥰
I absolutely love it. 💜
This was such a great episode. First one ive watched i love it!!
You make cooking fun. Love the lessons on food.
June, you are Brilliant !
Hello 👋
Swedish here. I don't know about this cardamom bread, we use it in cinnamon rolls for sure. And basically you can use cardamom and cinnamon in anything sweet of you wish. Always comes ground here, but now I will definitely be on the hunt for whole pods.
Hi Maria
Yummy June I wish I could taste that bread and Jam. Hoping all your wishes come true.
1:28 me when someone asks me if I'm ok when I'm not at all 😭😂
June, you are such a joy, thank you for the education💗😺
I love watching June cook and I can’t lie it’s so weird seeing her use reg priced items and not bring up the budget 🤣😭
Hi Nicole
What a wonderful video- really enjoyed it!
Hi 👋
Can there be a video of Junes favourite recipes? And/or June recreates her moms favourite dishes :)
June, 😊 thank you! 😊 I'm looking forward to testing these recipes. That jam looks delicious 😋 😍
Hi 👋
June, come to south Texas and teach me your ways in my kitchen for a week!!!! I want to try every single thing you make, if for no other reason than sheer curiosity. I needs to know! Lol. You're awesome.
I love cardomon so much!!!
these are so interesting!
My favorite spice! I brought so much back with me from my last trip home
Delish should just become another June channel. I’d be ok with that 😌🙌🏽
I love June so much that I just watched a whole 30 min show about Cardamom
Mints , rosemary, lavenders
June, if you can convince me to enjoy cardamom in more than chai, I'll be impressed. Perform your usual magic please!
June you really have your way with words, super beautiful and poetic yet informative at the same time
