- Not a root, not quite a stalk: It's a rhizome: meet turmeric. Outside of specific recipes-mostly curries-that call for turmeric, this wonderfully versatile plant doesn't seem to make much of an appearance in a lot of North American recipes. Which is a shame, but don't worry: we're going to fix this today, right now.

well she does literally have back pain
Best come t ever! Lol
June is one of those people that I can watch literally for hours without getting bored . I love June .
I like these "June Explains Stuff" videos.
June gets such joy when Aaron compliments her cooking.
hes usually kinda mean :(
@@aksdjkdksja2090 r u sure? everytime i watch hes complimenting her
Aaron is the luckiest!! I want June cooking for me everyday... totally jealous🤓I love Aaron too he is always so appreciative of her and her genius! ❤
June looks so much happier this episode! It makes me happy as well.
The worst part of this is it is under an hour long. NEED MORE JUNE!
Omg I know! I rewatch her old videos anytime I can't find anything good on YT. Can never get enough of this Queen!
They are adorable. Food is their love language.
In Norway we use turmeric in "lusekatter" which we bake for St. Lucia the 13th of December. We use turmeric instead of Saffron, because turmeric is less expensive, but still gives a nice colour.
I just love June!! Hope she gets an enourmous kitchen later where she can organize all her spices and and have a huge fridge where she can have all her interesting stuff and leftovers, and an island where she can serve Aron!
I have heard of this lusekatter, I will be RUclipsing and googling this recipe so that I may make it in texas.
@@emryspendragon2710 sounds good! Hope they taste well! 🥳
Turmeric ginger tea is my go to when I'm feeling even the littlest bit sick.
Does it work ???
@@TheTamago
Oh yes.
June, Sunday: Here's how to make a billion recipes for approximately 0 cents.
June, Monday: What's up, losers? Here's how turmeric works!!!
June just spent 15 minutes talking about turmeric and I love it!!
Turmeric is great, my favorite recipe containing turmeric is an Indian egg curry that I make, where I fry boiled eggs in butter with coriander powder, turmeric and chilli powder, and make a onion-tomato gravy to mix it in with. Loved seeing Aaron!
i am going to try this! thanks
That sounds delicious!
There's a channel called The Lime Tree with a lovely Iranian lady that cooks outside and every single thing she cooks has turmeric in it!! I bought some because of her but will actually use it because of June❤️❤️
@Tina Short
Why not simply use it in both cuisines? :-)
June's passion for her subject matter shines through every time. a true gem
Does June's voice calm anyone else's mind too? Or just me?
@Davuana Haverty
Just you. 8 billion people on the planet, and yeah, just you. ::eyeroll:::
We desperately want more Budget eats but at this point I would watch you boil water lol. I love your videos.
Hahaha I knew this video was coming from June's yellow fingers in the pantry cleaning video lol
My favourite drink contains turmeric, palm sugar, honey and tamarind with a dash of ginger❤️ it's popular in Indonesia as Kunyit Asam, literally translated as Turmeric tamarind.
Love seeing Aaron in these videos! Love watching June and his relationship together as she cooks!
Your food and flavor descriptions are so beautifully creative and intelligent. You are a force to be reckoned with. Thank you, as always, for sharing your knowledge and your beautiful soul with us. ♥️
This inspires me to get some fresh turmeric. I see it at my local market all the time, but I’ve only bought it once, for juicing. Although those little cupcakes are calling my name 😘
"Aren't we all at the end of day, a little bit bitter "- June 2021
Me … not planning to cook anytime soon… still watches 2 hours of June this week like I need to learn to make something.
Yay, 2 June videos in a row AND another Fred sighting! More of this please!
Whenever I have the chance, I'll buy a couple of fresh knobs of turmeric and store them in the cupboard, just in case. It's certainly anti-septic, I (too) often suffer from a stomach upset, and chewing on some turmeric works like a charm: the pain is generally gone after an hour or so!
This is such a great tip, thanks for sharing!
@@emmasofie8718 You're welcome!
Disclaimer: Although there are no known serious, adverse effects of consuming turmeric in even high dosages, I'm not a doctor, so I have no idea about potential interferences /interactions with certain types of medication, such as blood thinners, anti-clotting agents (possible, as shown by a quick google search)
You're the best American chef I've watched on any videos or shows. I absolutely love your dishes and you're a delight to watch, hear, and see!
Got turmeric to try some curry (never had) and vegetarian dishes. So glad to learn about spices. Loving you back on delish!
Mmm…more June! Delish knows who butters their bread.
Idk how on earth June does all that she does, but I'm grateful. 💕
June, You’re Awesome! My daughter is a vegan and you give me amazing different options to make for her! Thank you 🌹
I worked for many years on a childhood leukemia study (as a software dev so I’m not an epidemiologist) and I recall that a British team of leukemia researchers found that turmeric, when part of the diet of children before they were two years old, demonstrated some protection against childhood leukemia.
Love turmeric!!! I add it to mac and cheese. I also love it as a compote with butter on corn muffins with feta and honey drizzled. So great for autoimmune diseases. I know my joints are better due to turmeric. Thanks for new ideas. I have learned so much from you. Hugs from Illinois.
I love that she's so passionate about spices
For sfouf brush the baking tin with tahini before scooping in the batter 😊
😋😋😋
Yes! That is the right way to do it 😂
I love watching her mouth when she speaks and eats. It's so........ Relaxing and satisfying! I Stan, June
Drinking game!!
Every time June says “lil’ bit”
Five min in I’m snoring under the coffee table!!
More June videos! More June videos!! She’s so much fun to watch! My mouth is watering over the last two dishes😋😋
I'm impressed w/ how well she described the taste of turmeric in its original form
You saved me because I love to use turmeric and you gave me more recipes to use it. Thx 🙏
I just love watching you! Totally inspirational!!! Thanks June
Hmmm I think I am going to add Turmeric to my BlueBerry Muffins tomorrow. I think the yellow and purple will look fantastic!
I have turmeric powder in my first aid kit. Put on wounds and help with blood clotting and also prevent the wound going septic and helps with quick wound healing.
We love golden milk! I’m going to try your tea recipe today, thanks June! Please make more videos 😋
Good one June !
I love turmeric , thank for all the tips
From Melbourne Australia
Very informative. Thanks, June!!
Another great one thanks June
You are an inspiration, and I learn something new every time you post - thanks!
I grew up with my mum just using dried tumeric powder mixed with a little flour, dusted on chicken drumsticks and shallow-fried/sautéed in a pan and served with mash or salad- surprisingly delicious and earthy, goes well with the sweet dark meat chicken!🥰🥰
This was so helpful as I just added turmeric to my spice shelf! Can't wait to try a lot of these recipes!
Thanks June!!! I love your style :) Aaron cameos are the best!
Awww June!!! (And Aaron) you're so helpful during this time ❤️
That's my favourite spice! I use it in pretty much everything - it's delicious and SO pretty!
Thank you for doing this! I love Turmeric. I put both balck pepper and turmeric in almost so many of my recipes. I put it in my coffee when brewing it. I rarely taste it. I especially put it in all soups. It does well with eggs. Blessings!💙
That was such a good video! I've seen a half dozen of your videos now and by far this was my favorite. Golden milk is my favorite drink and i never had a recipe for it, I just ised ginger, tumeric, milk and sugar. Now im definitely going to try it with pepper cardamom and honey! Thanks!
Good one. I always see this channel. Awesome......!!! Lot of variety cooking techniques. Keep it up.
The way June describes food make me want to grab my keys and go shopping!
Loved this! ❤️
I'm definitely trying the granola! Loved June's nervous "mine!" reminder to Adam at the end 😂
I love turmeric! So excited for this video!
The fried rice and fish ball curry looked awesome. Not sure about the first few recipes but I love June nevertheless.
Loved this one!
June is amazing
Aaron making a special appearance when he knew that curry at the end was ready. How delicious was all these recipes 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
I love your videos . I post them every where, all the time !
Love you, June, always happy to see you pop up on my sub feed💗😺
I've been wary of buying fishballs at Ranch99 market- they seem like mystery balls. Well, now that they are June-approved, I'm gonna have to try. Thanks, June, for a new ingredient! I am already a big fan of turmeric- it IS a good anti-inflammatory. I mix powdered turmeric, black pepper and a small spoon of coconut oil and eat that daily- it is amazing.
June, You are amazing.Thank you!
Love these ideas. I wash, dry and freeze most of the fresh turmeric that I buy. Then grate the frozen turmeric over soups, salads, Baked sweet potato, potatoes or smoothie s.
June!!!! What a ray of sunshine!
Wow...that fish ball curry and turmeric fried rice...yummy !!
I'm loving learning about these spices and stuff! MORE! I'm excited!
I have always loved the bright color & kick of turmeric & now I love it even more with your Fab recipes, June!! 🌞💛😁😋
This was very interesting!
Going to bed dreaming of this spice! And dear God that fried rice looks AMAZING!
You don’t understand how EXCITED i was when i saw you recommend rice noodles to go with the fish ball curry!! Chinese Indonesians LOVE that.
I have never considered using fresh turmeric or wanted golden milk but now I do. Also!!!! Indonesian yellow fried chicken uses turmeric! Pretty sure you’ve had it from one of arron/erin/aron’s weekly indonesian meal 😋 thank you for making this episode 👌🏻
I take turmeric daily as a vitamin & it definitely helps my arthritis.
My country is plenty with turmeric but i haven't cook much with it. Again, June inspired me to explore!
I'm not sure I know what "androgynous spices" are. I see the examples, I think I can extrapolate, but I've never heard this term before.
My husband and I love Indian food and use curry spice blends frequently. We live in a small NH town but have one grocery store with a good selection of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern foods. Last week I was surprised to see fresh turmeric in the produce section there. I'd never seen it before so I didn't buy any which I now regret, those Daikon pickles looked very good. You just popped up as a suggestion tonight. I've watched several videos so far.
I LOVE JUNE!!! MORE JUNE, MORE JUNE!
Two June videos back to back?! Yessssss!
Two June in a week. I'm excited.
I put turmeric on everything… I love it so much!
I would love to see what June would come up with shopping at an expensive grocery store!!
Turmeric pickled eggs are amazing June, give 'em a shot!
I love this spice show series!! now maybe my turmeric powder will get some use! (zaatar, allspice, cardamon & fennel are other spices I'd love to see featured)
I like to add carrot puree to warm milk with turmeric and other spices. A variation of golden milk.
Just restocked on Turmeric so this video is timely. Thank you
Can't wait to try that fish ball curry. Looks delish
In Thai cuisine tumeric are common use for soutern Thai food. Such as fried fish with tumeric, Dry Meat Curry (Khua Kling), Thai Kaeng Som Soup(Soutern style soup with veg and fish). it's so yummy!
Ooo yesss tumeric! 🧡 and yesss June! ❤️ Thank you!
Oh my gosh two out so quickly I can't handle it I'm so happy
That fish ball curry looks amazing, I must try it, next time I visit my local asian store I'll definitely be picking up some of those. Love from Argentina!
That tea es my solution for a cold morning or a sore throat, everytime I have a cold it works!!
Just got some turmeric (14oz for $3 at HEB.) So excited!!! And was looking for uses.. Trying new herbs and spices this year. Already got some five spice, fish said and fermented tamarind.
I do have to say you're my absolute favorite to watch!!!!
Turmeric fried rice?!?! Yes, please! Also more June, please! And an Aaron sighting, oh boy!
I use turmeric in everything! 😂
I have a spice mix that I put in a big salt grinder, so although it’s not that obvious, (taste or looks), it’s always there in my food.
instead of sugar, I'd like to add a pinch of salt on my turmeric tea. try some!
I have a daikon radish! Time to pickle!
Thank you now I know how to use it -got it in my pantry (turmeric)
