They should make a version that doesn't even have the center hinge. Most of us don't travel with our fitness gear and the effect on it's stowability at home would be minimal. Also, I think they should consider making one that is just a single unit similar to the unittree pump.
I found that the magnetic resistance is better. I love the unitree pump and have a speediance on the way. My max pro cables are still jerky and after a year of use the weight has been unbalanced from the left to right side. They say you can go in and adjust this, but for a grand I don’t think I should have to go in and do diy fixes.
The resistance definitely takes getting used to. I can to peace with the uniqueness of how it feels the more I used it. I will say whenever I do rows, I feel like I'm pull starting a motor.
Agree- I take my maxpro on vacation for a hotel room workout, but the pumps are better. I also have the squatz apollo board which is also good. How do you like the speedience? Of course I’m sure its like the apollo board but the addition of higher cables … 🙏
@@user-cp2qw2ek5e my speediance finally came this week. So far, it is FANTASTIC. The resistance is buttery smooth and much heavier than the identified weight. The Connect the Watts review on the gym pal covers things very well, including the poor shipping packaging (the plastic shell on mine came cracked at the exact location that his did).
Glad you reviewed this Mike. The reality is for THAT chunk of change that they are asking for,....NO WAY ON THIS EARTH should that thing ever have come close to cracking. I really like getting a workout with these at the laundromat lol. I hook them on the ball hitch of my large van and it freaks out everyone else who is doing laundry lol.
i agree some exercises are iffy, but over all i think its cool, similar to band tension, but i think all tension is good, great for travel compact, plus it look cool with that dial tensioner, but the convenience of it is a great selling point.i can tell its good for toning and shaping the muscle, especially for side delts, bis &tris, thanks again mike...enjoy yr sunday brothe🏋🏋♀️🏋♂️
Can you go crazy with the wall mount or do you keep that more reasonable? It looks like they use #8 2.5" screws into a stud. Trx system bolts on the other hand are massive although they may not play as well with a single stud like maxpro. Is there any worry of pulling the track from the wall with high weight settings or full bodyweight / burst running?
@@zacharybishop there’s for sure some concern about going crazy on the wall mount. I’m sure it’s fine for light work, but I really did not push the limits with that thing. Ultimately it also depends on what’s behind the wall and how the studs were installed. Since this review, I’ve actually removed wall mount and no longer use it
Hi Sliding Bench Trainer, a nice product very portable, can be taken around to travel with a limit of 300 LBS, and only works with positive movement and not negative. There is a product by bodylastics that looks impressive and comes with an EZ curl bar with increments of up to 564 LBS and is very inexpensive, just under 300.00 USD. These are resistance cable bands, and they offer over five thousand free videos.
I do think bodylastics are great, the only problem I have with those tube bands (or some resistance bands set ups) is the transition between exercises.
I have been thinking about getting one of these for those long summer road trips in our RV. I wonder if it can be set up to do assisted chin-ups/Lat pull-ups? Attach the handles to a doorway pull up bar or smith bar above you and stand (carefully) on the feet platform? Probably hard coming down on the eccentric? Thoughts?
I bought the MAXPRO less than a month ago along with the bench on Amazon. But one of the pulleys still is really jittery and squeaks. I really enjoy the workouts and got a good price. When does the jittery issue go away? One pulley is now smooth but the other is still very jittery and squeaky. 😞
They have some videos on how you can fix a cable that is giving off a jagged tension. Theres's always at little friction that's different to a cable smoothness, but I'm not sure about the squeak noise. I'd reach out to them on this one.
Looks great and great review but the lack of an eccentric phase makes it a no go. Too many gains left on the table. Hopefully they will release a product that includes the eccentric phase of the movement. Nice review though!
I think there's better options if you're just starting. Feel free to ask more questions, but a good bench and adjustable dumbbells might be the best place to start first.
Wow, the Elite Bundle currently lists for $1,379 for Concentric only. Yikes. I'll stick with my $345 Synapse CCR and get max Concentric only, max Eccentric only and max Concentric-Eccentric overload modes. You can't combine Synapse with other things (except running a band in parallel), but that's OK. It weighs 2 lbs and fits in my carry on.
@@Delgado-ot4lq Bands get harder as you stretch them concentrically, and easier when you return eccentrically. So there is good eccentric force at the beginning of the lowering phase. By the end of the lowering phase, the eccentric force is smallest. Of course, we are stronger lowering than lifting. So bands understimulate the eccentric phase.
Now see, I like that idea and makes it a great deal different than resistance bands. If it were closer to 400 dollars and if the rumors of its jittery cabling weren't so troubling, I'd be all in. Oh, and as someone else said, it definitely doesn't need a hinge in my opinion. @@hybridresistance
Nice review! I get paying for workout videos but I don't plan to pay to put in my own workouts. Do you lose much functionality without the app? I'm also wondering if it might be possible to use this device to convert a total gym to a rower. I have a total gym xls and lots of loop bands and Bodylastics. I really want this but only if the app isn't really necessary to get all core functionality. Also, would you say this is easier on knees & shoulders for squats & presses due to dropping to lower position without high tension?
I personally won't use the app other than occasionally turning it on to see the rep / force from time to time, but I think it really depends on the person and their needs. I might be a minority as I never liked or would do follow along workouts or even pre-determined workouts for that matter. Your idea about using it as a rower is awesome though, I'm trying that really soon. I also can't say for sure in your situation, but I'd imagine yes, the squatting holding the handles as I demonstrated in the video wouldn't cause much stress. I also liked doing the resisted lunge as well.
I've been meaning to do an update video, but honestly can't get myself to use it based on the other things that I have. It's not that it's bad, but there's probably other things I'd use over this.
@@hybridresistance I see what you mean. I mean, I really like the HandyGym, but honestly my Body Solid Lever gym and my IsoChain are my main exercise devices. They're so much easier to handle and thus approachable.

I called customer service and they said it was because I was shipping to a different address than my billing address (Both addresses were correct). So they said place another order and they would make a note so it wouldn't be cancelled. So I did... and they cancelled it. I called back and they said they put the note on the first order, but not the second and I could place another order (#3). I'm not wasting my time with them jerking me around again.
I can see where some people aren't going to like it. Like I said in the video, that's kind of where I was at until I really started to mess with it more. I will update on longevity as that's a concern of mine, but I can see myself using this a lot for some exercises. Obviously, still loving my X3.
